Is the sun dying? Here is an article that asks that question and attempts to provide some information. Information that will make you want to behave violently towards anyone (even aunt Tessie) who mentions (man-made?) global warming.

Just a bit to intrigue you:
"According to NASA, the sun will cool dramatically starting after 2013. Then for the next 30 to 50 years it will wallow in the Maunder Minimum as the northern latitudes grow colder."

I did not read any comments. It is amazing how ill informed and hysterical many people are. Reading comments makes me despair, a little.:p

Veterans Today has some of the best comments section on the web, IMO. Very low noise level.

Glad the article was to your liking. I was glad to have this thread to put it into. Very timely.

they make me despair as well, but i suppose i'm a glutton for punishment...

embarrassing admission: i'll occasionally read the disparaging comments after what i might have initially felt was an enlightening piece, and i'll think: hell, i must have missed something - and i'll read it again!:o

it's the intellectual equivalent of getting fooled by the 'ol coin behind the ear trick time and again. if ulli or carmody would kindly arrive with an astrological explanation, i'd embrace it immediately, but i fear i am without a valid excuse here.

What always amazes me is the idea that we have to get off the planet to assure human survival. Why? I think humans are a disaster. We should be quarantined.

I'd hate to imagine what would happen to the rest of the galaxy if we got out.

I just wanted to show the contradictory messages from the government. They push for a carbon tax, Gore talks about climate deniers while another agency talks about an impending cooling period beginning less than two years away.

I hope that helps.

I heard a great (erm, amusing) definition of "expert" today - anyone who appears to know 5% more than the average person on any given topic.
