What are your thoughts on this?
At this point actually doing this would be purely for increasing our understanding of the extinction of a particular species, because there is limited genetic material to use.
However as a hypothetical:
If we did have the material to bring back to life a breeding population of any species,
what would the implications of such an act be?
Are we even ready take on the role of creation or recreation?
If we are at some point successful in reversing the degradation of this planet, will we soon after begin to revitalize nature in this manner?
We are obviously not ready..., but will we be?

Very interesting article STATIC. If they were successful in bringing back the "Mammoth" with this new technique mentioned in the article, whats to say that they couldn't do the same with the dinosaur. I think a good deal of research would need to be done before this happens, like how to manage an animal of that size, the basics really. I do believe that the technology already exists to carry this out, but as usual, it is probably tied up in some secret government lab somewere.

Indeed adi... Remember what happened in Jerassic Park. I think if possible to carry out, you obviously would want to start with a species that would have less of a powerful effect on it's environment.

It's horrible. I'm sure there's a very good reason for nature to decide certain species have had their time. Interfering - like who do we think we are anyway -will be the death of us some day.

I would agree,
But one aspect of that is that we as a species have had a tremendous effect on the rate that species have been going extinct.
So do we consider our actions to be part of nature?
What if someone wanted to bring back a butterfly that went extinct a million years ago.
Would that be wrong?
I just heard somebody say "We are godlings"
Fallowing through with something like this would prove that phrase to be correct, although most of this forum I think already believes this.

Here is good article explaining the natural rate of species loss versus the one we are creating.

We have many organizations around the planet that are working hard to slow down species loss. It is like putting a bandage on a cut that you inflicted upon yourself.
We are interfering with nature on such a massive scale that bringing a part of nature back that we had a hand in destroying, you would think is not immoral.
But many still think it is so. So why does this double standard exist? We can kill with impunity but not create.

Please let us start with our own species restoration first, it's in need of all the higher powers we laid down for this Earth experience. They are being activated now.
WE, ourselves, had our DNA "tinkered" with in past days. Those in control tinkered and left us with the most basic powers and our Divine aspect DNA strands were inactivated.
Our root chakra for Sex and procreation and our solar plex chakra for fear and control purposes were all that were left functioning. As a result most of the dis-functioning of the world has come from this ability to tinker and inactivate all the rest of our Divine aspects.
And we are loaded with these Divine aspects. This is just the tip of the iceberg. Today we are able to activate these and move out into the light of a new day that has been withheld from us through the mechanics of the topic in this thread.
The whole flood during Noah's time was due to some darker elements of this very tinkering so it's not like we haven't been down this road before. We have and are just coming out of the darkness and fog of it.
Our DIVINE DNA strands were inactivated and narrowed down to two of 12 strands. Other mammals had additional DNA strands injected, one extra strand per extra foot of height and so forth. Giants were born that roamed the Earth.
It didn't start out so dark but it quickly morphed into terror and madness that fed off itself and darkened the whole world. Not to mention humans were being eaten and we still retain shadow memories of those days buried deep within our unconscious mind. A time when huge predators roamed freely and killed at will.
This tinkering continued and it got so out of control by the dark instincts, the darker forces, insects were mixed with humans and every other type of creature and predator and the whole thing went into the most destructive path you could possibly imagine.
Good intent fell by the wayside of our darker instincts.
These half-humans were created with bird, insect, and predator heads upon bigger, stronger bodies and it didn't take long before ~ these creatures began killing off all the vanilla variety humans. It was no contest. It became one of the most harmful periods of the dark ages upon Earth and any books and references to it were buried deep lest we have cause to remember.
As a result when these creatures had done the maximum amount of harm ~ and it couldn't be fixed ~ The whole Earth was flooded to cleanse it. Noah was spared and a new cycle began again. Heaven decreed ~ it had to end.
All the civilizations have an oral tradition that speaks of the flood and Giants that walked the Earth but the Books of Enoch where the story is told in detail were left out of the Bible, so people wouldn't put this all together with current and past DNA events.
Our records ~ might indicate that this dark tinkering is not a very good idea. Benevolent creation is a higher road to travel but an important consideration is whatever we create ~ does no harm and works in harmony and loving intent with the rest of the universes that surround us.
Whenever the pendulum swings too far one way or another, Earth herself will seek a new balance and to "right" itself to regain this balance. It's all part of what we are seeing around us right now and certainly much, much more.
Since the whole scientific community has been funded and developed through the darkest of powers; the old controllers on Earth right now, we need to concentrate on "Activating" our own Divine DNA and moving back into the light of a new day and dawn and put these childish and destructive games away like warring against each other and creating clones of creatures meant to harm us.
We can do this because we are now able with higher consciousness to restore our own DNA stands and become all that we really are...
The highest result is coming now from this new consciousness restoration and we have celestial assistance as well.
Right now, all our energies are necessary to work within our own hearts to get back and restore all that has been lost and activate our own DNA. We need to focus on that aspect.
This journey and restoration takes place within us, and not in the world around us. The world around us manifests itself anew from the inside out ~ and not the other way around. We have forgotten this part of ourselves but we can remember.
Seek guidance ~ first ~ within your own heart and let the rest of what you think you are seeing ~ fall away. Put your focus on LOVE, kindness, and doing good for each other, and to "harm no being." It's all that matters right now.
Thank goodness "duality" is leaving because it has fulfilled it's original purpose of experiencing all of it's dark and light aspects and contrasts. We have accomplished this now and the old dark systems of control are being driven into the dustbin of history. Let these fall away from your consciousness and this new vista will manifest itself in the world around us.
It's time to be uplifted from the dark ways of past days. That is, unless we haven't had enough of the old ways of lust, greed, and power out of control. We have each played roles on both sides. So much so, it's become redundant. It's time to move forward.
Many blessings will come from our "lighter" hearts and deeds. Instead of further "tinkering" let us welcome in a New Golden Age of love, prosperity, and bliss... It's a higher more balanced and loving choice and we are making it in this very instant of time.

Well technically speaking we wouldnt be reviving an extinct species we'd be creating a new one because they're mixing the marrow with an elephant egg. so the animal will be part mammoth part elephant. Would the creature then be sterile like the mule? and if so why create a creature so large without the means to reproduce unless to study it further like a lab rat.
If they had good intentions to revive an animal, like say a species that died out but is important to the environment and structure of life, instead of just to study an animal or "see if we can do it", then i can see it being useful. this just sounds like a fun challenge for the scientists and this poor animal will just be another test tube or trophy to them.

I agree with you completely darla,
It would be nice if we actually knew our true history... This way we would know how to walk a straighter line to the place you speak of.

I guess what I was thinking was much more of a hypothetical question.
What you say here is obviously much more realistic as applied to the mammoth thing.

That is the control aspect that the scientists have. You have to go through a specific company to get that particular type of animal. Think of a zoo... if the new creature had to be bought then the zoo couldn't produce offspring themselves to possibly sell to other zoos. Again... it is all about money and control.

My work involves protecting threatened species, both plants and animals. It is my passion really. But once a species is gone, it is gone. We threaten many species with extinction through our actions, and it is only right that we try to save them, but we need to have a blanket "non-resurrection" policy in my opinion, because otherwise, where do we draw the line?

We have no known historical example of bringing an extinct species back to
nature wot I know. When a species disappear nature heals itself and close
the place where the species performed. We may preserve species in zoos
but its questionable if they can be brought back to the wild. Maybe we may
find out how this should be done in the future.

I just had a thought relating to david Wilcocks new book. I wonder if what we perceive as a species going extinct is not entirely the case.
If all life is interconnected in what DW calles the "Source Field", what if the template of a species expression in our world is permanently stored in that field;
And that the field can manifest that template for life not only here but anywhere in the universe. We have heard of people that look just like us that exist elsewhere. Can that also be the case for say a tiger, or any other form of life that we see here on earth.
What if instead of doing crazy stuff like is suggested in this article, we could just give a species long gone on our planet a relocation from another where it still exists.
Of Course that would require disclosure...

Hi static, There is a body of opinion that same life force flows through a blade of grass an elephant or a human being and in this respect all living beings are equal. Could there be mammoth souls waiting in the hereafter for a biologist to engineer their path back into creation?. If the Buddhists are right about the transmigration of souls, then we should all find a transient niche during our journey. The bison amongst others nearly went the same way as the mammoth probably for the same reasons?.

If their intentions are not evil and they succeed without causing suffering, then what is to say they shouldn't? If nature could decide that a species has had its time, then it is equally capable of preventing this from happening. That being said, nature can be very allowing at times...
