View Full Version : Go(o)d and (d)evil: The Revolution of the Human Spirit

The soul is an individualized aspect of the Grand Principle upon which this universe is founded. It can be likened to a dot in a pointillist painting. One observes an intricately beautiful masterpiece when the unique conglomeration of dots is viewed from a higher perspective. The soul, in essence, is a spark from the Divine flame, or God. God represents a principle—unconditional Love. This principle does not take sides, it is not biased, and it has no outliers. Every thought, action, word, and intention takes place within God. Life and death exist within God. Everything that is and everything that is not came forth from this Source. Let that soak in for a minute. God is within all things and all things are within God.
The word God carries with it a myriad of conflicting connotations. They are all as correct as they are seemingly unalike. Religions loose their true value when the need to be right is injected into them. John Godfrey Saxe’s elephant poem (http://www.noogenesis.com/pineapple/blind_men_elephant.html) aptly illustrates this point (this post (http://projectavalon.net/forum4/showthread.php?35019-the-Bible&p=382198&viewfull=1#post382198) also sheds some light on religion from Swami Vivekananda's perspective). The principle of God is muddied when men prate about differences in dogmas and perspectives of an infinite principle. God is infinite. Infinity cannot be bound in a book or contained in an idea. All characterizations of God are correct. They must be for if one is wrong then infinity becomes limited and this is an obvious conundrum. Niels Bohr said it best when he noted that the opposite of fact is falsehood but the opposite of one profound truth may very well be another profound truth. There is not one descriptive word that cannot be used to describe God. It is an inherent fact in attempting to describe the infinite in words. Someone may ask how can God be evil? Well, what exactly is evil?
Evil is, in varying degrees, ignorance of the Divine scheme of the Universe. The scheme of the Universe can be found in the truest desire of the heart. It is the aspiration for all to be One in Love, the realization that all is One in Love, and finally the actualization of this state of being-ness. This is the souls ultimate destiny. Every living creature seeks out happiness and love in one way or another. Every living creature wants to avoid pain and suffering. This indwelling aspiration is centralized to each individual here on earth. Everyone seems separate. The soul came from God and it is only natural that the soul seeks out reunion. An underdeveloped sense of Self fuels a campaign to fulfill this desire at the expense of others. Intentions become selfish and the pursuit of happiness leaves pain and suffering in its wake. Every evil persona in the world exemplifies this fact; they were seeking what they held to be true and they thought that the end result might have brought them peace and happiness. Their underlying intentions were for their own good, and they fueled their selfish ambitions with some numb combination of lust, avarice, anger, and ignorance. If your quest for fulfillment interferes with another’s free will then that path is unrighteous and the spoils of victory will be provisional. That which is right will lead one closer to God and anything else will just make the Light dimmer.
:decision:
Evil is not in opposition to God, it is a part of the struggle to get back to God. God is in the hearts of all men but all men do not accept the fact that they are in the heart of God. The evil in the world can be correlated with the global awareness of the truest desire of the heart (Happiness and Love) and the realization of that desires purpose. Service, compassion, and righteous discernment are values that can aide us in recognizing this common denominator that unifies the human Spirit. Pain and suffering only add to the confusion about our Divine heritage, and divides us further by means of misconstrued intentions. Following a selfish will is counter productive to the ultimate aim of life, but following the will of the Self leads back home. God is here—in each one of us and all around us. Edgar Cayce once said, “You don’t go to heaven, you grow to heaven.” Shift your old paradigms, and wake up to your higher ambition—follow your righteous will! In the darkest of rooms people stumble over one another in search of the exit, but if the Light is on the answers become apparent. The switch is within each human being and it is for them to choose whether or not to live in the dark.
Help another=help yourself

That's just it. It's the idealist's dilemma. S/he thinks, "Okay, this is my conviction, let me live by it", then adversity ensues as s/he is trying to live out that conviction in a world that lacks empathy and understanding. The "help another, help yourself" axiom is very slow to catch on global scale. It seems counter-intuitive. I myself fall prey to the stumbling blocks inherent when trying to live and understand the will of the spirit whilst living with the naturally arising fleshy sense of self-preservation (self-interest, selfishness). I think something else to note is the difference between tolerance and understanding. If more of us would have the courage to venture beyond our "tolerable" boundaries we set to divide us religiously, culturally, etc.. then, we would be in a better position to understand each other.

Hi Vivek,
Excellent post, very well written. I would just like to add that the concept of God is an incorrect concept, a lie based upon a truth. Ultimately we need to let go of it. "God" has been used to subordinate, terrorize, and control mass populations for a very long time. This biblical god, we are taught, is separate from us, he is judging us, and he will send us to hell if we do not follow the rules- rules of men. This false concept is the single reason why things are the way they are here today. Once this concept falls, once we release the idea of religions, then we shall know heaven on earth.
The truth of the matter is that there is no "God", "Gods", or any other deity superior to us. That from which we emanate is The Source- divine, intelligent, creative and infinite. We are not separate from it. It is not greater than us and we are not less than it. We are it and it is us. The concept of "God" seeks to personify something which is far greater that the human design and it's ability to understand the infinite. By personifying this Source, we limit our understanding of it. We relate to it as we relate to each other. We place our motivations, ideals and beliefs upon this concept. And then we have the audacity to wonder why things are so very wrong in our world.
This failure to understand what the Source is and how it functions is the reason for so much pain and sorrow here in the 3rd density. Universal laws are poorly understood and as a result, the concept of evil (among others) is allowed to flourish. Evil does not exist, it is only what we are able to perceive of the natural Universal laws of cause and effect. There is much to observe in the world around us that will teach us about these laws. All of nature follows these laws, except for man.
We humans have free will, and that free will allows for some interesting deviations from the understanding of universal law. The laws still apply, we just don't understand them. Of course, there have been and still are those who like for the greater majority of the population to remain ignorant of these laws. Ignorance makes the people easier to manipulate and control.
Those who have held this sacred knowledge have used it over the course of written history to subjugate and control those who weren’t even aware these things were possible. Even today, most people cannot conceptualize that it is even possible that they may have been lied to all of their lives, not by people who intended to deceive them, but instead by people who were themselves deceived. These lies are very, very old and it is high time all of the people of earth came to know the truth of our origins, history, and the true nature of creation.

I would amend that a bit...just my 2 cents as the saying goes and it reflects what 'I' desire to believe.

Yeah, I know. Splitting hairs. Blind men describing an elephant. My statement is about conceptualization- thinking about things differently than we ever have before. The God concept is deeply ingrained and causes an instant and violent reaction in people. I see it as programming. Until we as a race- the human race- can let go of that programming, nothing changes.

I agree with you. Yet, I would add that it is dangerous to think that evil doesn't exist. It's a slippery slope. Evil is very much a real thing in the world; to not recognize that it does not in fact exist can be dangerous. To understand what it truly is though, merely transforms how we define it and choose to approach it, it does not eradicate it.

Agreed, the word God carries a mainstream connotation with it that misconstrues the higher principle that it is intended to represent—Love. Even that word, love, carries similar connotations based on the sliver of reality that we experience.

Correct. The words "God" and "love" are not the problem. They are just words and as such are utilized to convey ideas and concepts. It is the programmed associations with those words that bring about misunderstanding and discord. When a word becomes tied to an incorrect concept, the very word itself becomes misunderstood and emotionally charged. Enter those whose purpose it is to cloud the waters of perception and understanding. Very easy it is to confuse and manipulate those who do not grasp, do not see the true nature of being.
Understanding the true nature of Universal law, being, and unity is not only what allows us to be free as sovereign expressions of the Source, it puts an end to all wars and disharmony between us here. It allows us to live in balance within the material realm in a way where respect for all life is the guiding principle, and experience is the driving force for our time spent here.
I wonder, what happens when we in the incarnation program are in alignment, in words and deeds, with the higher non-physical reality? Heaven on Earth?
Yet, I would add that it is dangerous to think that evil doesn't exist. It's a slippery slope. Evil is very much a real thing in the world; to not recognize that it does not in fact exist can be dangerous.
From a certain perspective, yes, evil is very real. However, from a higher level of understanding we can see that evil is merely of our own making. We choose for it to be. When we force our will upon others, when we go against their will forcibly- we are violating a basic rule of the Universe. When each and every one of us comes to understand and respect this law and each other, the concept of evil will fall away. Evil is a word we use to describe something we do not understand and perceive to be bad. This does not preclude doing and choosing that which is right, that which we understand to be good in accordance with universal laws, namely the first law- Love.
