'Carbon dioxide is controlled by world temperatures rather than the other way around'

Ottawa has pulled out of the 1997 anti-global warming Kyoto Protocol, saying the treaty is “not working.” Piers Corbyn, the founder of the Weather Action Foundation, says Canada is doing the right thing.
According to Corbyn, the solar activity – not carbon dioxide – is behind climate change.
“I don’t believe in man-made climate change because there is no evidence for it.
In fact, carbon dioxide is controlled by world temperatures rather than the other way around,” he told RT. “Climate change is going on, and the key aspects of the big, very extreme events that happened in the last 18 months were predicted by us, the Weather Action, using solar activity.
“Carbon dioxide has zero effect, I repeat: zero effect, no effect whatsoever.”
Corbyn believes that the Kyoto protocol is based on what appears to be a semi-fraudulent scheme aimed at wasting public funds which could otherwise have a better use.
“It is a complete waste of time. It’s a waste of public money. It’s a gravy train for so-called scientists looking into things that don’t exist, and, of course, for the governments to impose taxations, and oil companies to increase oil prices on the back of increasing energy prices – which is the thing demanded by the global warming’s nonsense lobby,” he explained.
“So, frankly, I’m glad that Canada has left the Kyoto Protocol process and I hope it heralds the collapse of the whole thing," Piers Corbyn concluded.

this is very interesting. How could one, I wonder, prove this experimentally? I know we can suspect it from certain data collected about the rise in temp on other planets in the solar system - but proof?

I always found it very logical that CO2 does not cause global warming.
The fact that there is so little CO2 in our earth's atmosphere to me makes it very unbelievable that this small part has such a tremendous effect on our climate.
"Dry air contains roughly (by volume) 78.09% nitrogen, 20.95% oxygen, 0.93% argon, 0.039% carbon dioxide, and small amounts of other gases"
source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Atmosphere_of_Earth
And to think that of this small part of CO2 there is an even smaller part that is caused by humans, because most of the CO2 in the atmosphere is there because of volcanic eruptions and leaves decaying in the autumn e.g.
So if someone can explain to me how this very small part of CO2 in our atmosphere can cause global temperatures to fall or rise then i will rethink the issue.

Now, let us just clean up the planet because breathable air and drinkable water are what we deserve and require. As adults can't we just do smart things because the other way of doing things is suicidal. So piggy also.

well, my science is limited in this regard, but I would conjecture that the nature of its reactivity is what's important not its proportion.
I just read a little about Piers Corbyn who apparently does his calculations using solar activity levels. This is a very valid approach and one of the 'unknowns' in determining where we're headed in terms of global temperatures. It might be extreme to throw out the carbon dioxide baby with the bath water, however.

In 1974, the National Science Board announced: “During the last 20 to 30 years, world temperature has fallen, irregularly at first but more sharply over the last decade. Judging from the record of the past interglacial ages, the present time of high temperatures should be drawing to an end…leading into the next ice age.”
You can’t blame these scientists for sucking up to the fed’s mantra du jour. Scientists live off grants. Remember how Galileo recanted his preaching about the earth revolving around the sun? He, of course, was about to be barbecued by his leaders. Today’s scientists merely lose their cash flow. Threats work.
In 2002 I stood in a room of the Smithsonian. One entire wall charted the cooling of our globe over the last 60 million years. This was no straight line. The curve had two steep dips followed by leveling. There were no significant warming periods. Smithsonian scientists inscribed it across some 20 feet of plaster, with timelines.

Everything we do, effects the world. Although, I doubt too, that the co2 is the sole re-sponsor for global warming. If you could pump enough of it into our atmosphere, it would increase temperatures... Thing is, Trees breathe it, So it never made sense to me as well, to believe the global warming mumbo jumbo. Although, I do accept, that we do effect our environment, just not to the extremes we are told. The whole system is warming up... right? Ya...

Water vapour is by far the most abundant greenhouse gas.

That's true, I remember it well and really began wondering what the hell happened when 'global warming' started. Part of that evolution was gaining insight into the global conditions on Venus. Venus defies explanation in that it lies within the 'Goldilocks' region of planetary condition, yet reaches temperatures as high as a 1,000 degrees centigrade. Upon further investigation it became clear that a runaway 'greenhouse effect' had altered Venus' condition to a very inhospitable level. Thus began the earnest search for greenhouse gases. Carbon Dioxide has been implicated in the process and is a very real catalyst for global atmospheric modification. So it is real, its effect is real...all the pieces haven't been agreed upon, as yet. What is coming to light is that greenhouse gases AND solar activity are both contributing factors.
Truth be told the real villain in the house of organic gases is methane and as ridiculous as it might seem human domestication and literal production of cows is contributing significantly to the problem. Not to mention the contribution of automobiles.

Lochinvar:
I see that you are correct...good point.
How much does water vapor amplify CO2 warming? Studies show that water vapor feedback roughly doubles the amount of warming caused by CO2. So if there is a 1°C change caused by CO2, the water vapor will cause the temperature to go up another 1°C. When other feedback loops are included, the total warming from a potential 1°C change caused by CO2 is, in reality, as much as 3°C.

Coldest Australian Summer In 50 Years

Cold Australian summer sees swimwear profits plummet
Australia's coldest summer in decades has dampened the mood for Christmas shopping and led to plummeting profits for swimwear and clothing stores.
http://i.telegraph.co.uk/multimedia/archive/02079/australia_2079755b.jpg
Australians usually head out in swimwear to the country's magnificent beaches at this time of year
Several clothing and department store chains have cut prices or closed outlets and shares in surfwear company Billabong today fell to a record low. The company said its profit could fall by as much as 26 per cent.
The unseasonal damp cool conditions – including the coldest start in Sydney since 1960 – has been blamed for a slump in Christmas shopping and big falls in sales of clothing and shoes.
"Clothing retailers are still doing it fairly tough out there," said Russell Zimmerman, from The Australian Retailers Association. "The weather has been too cold for them – they need that really good run of hot weather and they haven't seen it."
The rain and cold, blamed on the La Nina weather cycle, has affected much of Australia's eastern seaboard. Two weeks ago, the city of Brisbane recorded its coldest December day for 123 years.
The poor weather has forced stores to heavily discount of swimwear and summer clothing, with the big department store chain David Jones dropping prices by 30 per cent.

Yer-no-wat....?
with so much cooling going on there is likely to be a reduction in atmospheric CO2 in the data soon.
Bet they jump on that to say Hey, see? we're having an effect.
What a farce, the lot of it.
I can't decide if the carbon scare was just a revenue stream building excercise or if it was a deflection away from having to discuss stuff that they still consider to be off limits.
