View Full Version : single tier hierarchy, could it work?

You know, I've been thinking a lot about the single tier hierarchy of the occupy movement and how this is actually giving us a blue print for new ways to work and interact with one another.

It then dawned upon me that if we were to look at our own circle of friends, we see this interaction played out daily. A group of friends may well have a leader or two, but no one actually questions their position, they were never elected, they simply proved that they were able to suggest courses of action that took the majority of the friends with them. There are no elections, a hierarchy naturally forms, but it's not based upon pay scale but on peoples personality and natural biases. There is no other motivation other than a caring environment that generally encompasses all manner of personality types and intelligence levels. Yet, you remain friends, you look out for one another and you forgive, well most of the time, infractions and misunderstandings.

If money did not exist, would people still work, would networks of friends remain together?

Could a business or governing body operate efficiently within these guidelines and would people remain motivated based upon the need to have a productive life and be of service to others?

I would love to hear your thoughts on this.

Some beautiful questions you are asking, Pete. It is enjoyable to witness these types of questions being asked more and more. In the not too distant past we all had our heads down and bums up and didn't have the time or inclination to question authority.

Life can be so enjoyable and fulfilling, and if each of us were doing what we loved, and living our passion, then I certainly would be bouncing out of bed every morning, excited at what the new day may hold. I would have a say in what needed to be done, and as long as I was treated with respect and dignity, and understood why something needed to be done in a see through society and in the interests of all, then I would have no hesitation in contributing. The problem is that in the past I, like many others, have had to work within a flawed system while our suggestions and advice, when rarely uttered, fell on deaf ears. The society of the future will nurture and support all of us.

Money is a derived system of exchange based upon need and greed. Love is the 'system of exchange' of the universe, and when we act out of love, in a society saturated in love, then money or any other system of exchange becomes superfluous.

I see our society of the future guided, and not ruled. In the future we won't be governed by those who operate out of ignorance and greed, but guided by those who operate out of wisdom and compassion. Wade suggests some sort of council of grannies, and in the short term this is an admirable vision in order to help balance the patriarchal system we have lived under for so long. Yet I would hope that this system gives way to one in which the male and female aspects are in a balanced ratio, such as has been stated of the council of Elders that guide the Lemurian city of Telos.

It is an honour to contribute here. i would like to point out that I understand my answers aren't definitive, and are merely a contribution to the combined perception of reality.;)

I hear what you say and I also recognise the place you currently inhabit. I strongly believe that you are about to find that your past work has not gone unrecognised. Congratulations for keeping true to your beliefs, expect an invite to participate!
