You know, I've been thinking a lot about the single tier hierarchy of the occupy movement and how this is actually giving us a blue print for new ways to work and interact with one another.
It then dawned upon me that if we were to look at our own circle of friends, we see this interaction played out daily. A group of friends may well have a leader or two, but no one actually questions their position, they were never elected, they simply proved that they were able to suggest courses of action that took the majority of the friends with them. There are no elections, a hierarchy naturally forms, but it's not based upon pay scale but on peoples personality and natural biases. There is no other motivation other than a caring environment that generally encompasses all manner of personality types and intelligence levels. Yet, you remain friends, you look out for one another and you forgive, well most of the time, infractions and misunderstandings.
If money did not exist, would people still work, would networks of friends remain together?
Could a business or governing body operate efficiently within these guidelines and would people remain motivated based upon the need to have a productive life and be of service to others?
I would love to hear your thoughts on this.
