Energetics of the Evil Eye

In our modern culture, fast paced world of wheeling and dealing, hearing something as archaic as “warding off the evil eye” sounds silly doesn't it? I mean, who has time to focus on that stuff? Besides it's all mumbo jumbo make believe crap that is based on superstitious old religions.

Some people are afraid of everything, and some people ignore what's right in front of them. Which dog do you want to approach?

My father was a sniper in Vietnam. I have talked with other special ops men who shared that when they were going out to the jungle, part of the instructions given to them was to be aware of their surroundings and if they felt they were being watched that they probably were being watched and more than likely by a sniper. When you get this feeling, maybe the hair stands up on your neck or arms that is a signal to stop and take cover. It's a proven fact that we have another sensing ability and though it cannot be clearly explained in science as to how it works, but there is a lot of anecdotal evidence that shows people can tell when they are being watched, especially if there is strong emotion behind them being watched. Many a soldier owes their life to listening to that intuition and changing what they were doing. It is when we do not take notice that things go awry.

This is nothing new. This understanding of energy has existed for a very long time. In Turkey, the Nazar Boncugu is a charm used to ward off negative energy they attribute to the evil eye.

The evil eye is meant to fend off energy from others looking at you with malice, envy, greed and other negative emotions. Other cultures also have their pendants, and it is just part of the culture. In the west, we have divorced ourselves from “silly” superstitions. Yes, many call themselves Christian and do not even realize that the power of energy was directly addressed by Yeshua when he said, “To hate your brother is the same as murder”.

Why would having a feeling be the same as an actual act? If you ask this question, that is the first clue that you do not understand the power of our thoughts and energy. There is another saying in Christianity that mirrors other spiritual sayings, and that is “sow to the wind and reap the whirlwind” or “you reap what you sow”. These statements line up with the adage of “as above so below”. Nothing is created in the physical world without first taking place in astral and our thoughts. One does not just pick up a gun on a whim and shoot someone. There must be some thoughts prior and feelings. Oh, it can happen very quickly or it can be simmering for a long time and finally the person acts upon what has been in their heart. It could just be something was the final straw that sets them on a course of violence. Road rage is a perfect example of this sort of energy. Someone they do not know does something that sets off this inner rage that has not taken a proper way to vent itself, and in a split second they confront someone at a stop light who cut them off and pull out a gun and shoot that person in act of insane rage!

We have all heard these stories. We have all seen the senseless violence increasing in our world. How many of you who would have confronted someone years ago for an insensitive action no longer will because that person could pull out a gun and shoot you? We live in a time where we just don't know what is going to set someone off, and we don't want to be a statistic. We say, “it's not that big of a deal, let it go” and while that very well may be true, the people who act out inappropriately are no longer under any constraints because no one will stand up to them, and we see the violence and rude behavior increasing more and more. The really odd thing is, people have reasons to be offended in our culture as they go about their business and are insulted in various ways, watch selfish people ignore those around them and cut people off in traffic, ignore basic polite interchange, and anger builds. It's actually unhealthy for society as we keep turning away and not saying anything to those who live in complete 100% STS energy walking all over others in their daily lives. We work with them, drive with them on our roads, shop with them in stores and the anger builds. How many times have we heard, “Sam was the nicest guy, I cannot imagine what made him do this!” What “this” was, involved going to work and shooting 20 people and turning the gun on himself.

Negative energy is real. Negative energy takes root. Our bodies become dis-eased by it. We develop high blood pressure, migraines, stomach problems, digestion and bowel problems. That last one is very indicative of stuffing one's emotions down and blowing one's top. Being constipated regularly might be a clue that you are not releasing emotions properly. High blood pressure is indicative of getting ready to snap, and having a heart attack (one of the number one killers of Americans) is very indicative of a population tired of stuffing our emotions and hoarding negative energy. Jesus said, “To hate your brother is the same as murder”.

We are admonished to not be easily offended, to forgive quickly and to not let the sun set on our anger. It's not just spiritually that it affects us, but it is physically. When we become angry with someone we send energy to them. It's not a conscious thing, it is just how powerful we are. We are energy beings first, and when someone evokes strong emotion in us, and we react, we send energy to them. Our energy certainly affects our own body in various ways, but it also affects others. Those who can see in spirit will describe chords of attachment we all tend to have. Some of those chords are chords of loving connections built from a relationship such as those in one's family and close friends. Those chords are conduits of energy flow and can be both positive and negative. When a very important relationship becomes broken and we leave that person or they leave us, it can continue to receive energy and often it is not positive energy. There are ways to remove such chords. There are ways to use them for healing as well. There are also other things seen in spirit when someone is suffering and they look like barbs like one would imagine at the tip of a spear or arrow. It's a type of energy attack, and it is poisonous. It affects the spirit body which in turn begins to affect the physical body. This is where the saying, “She stabbed me in the back” comes from. She did not actually get a knife out and stab them, but what they are voicing is a very real energy of being attacked and for a sensitive person, they will actually feel the pain in their back! Or, the saying of , “He broke my heart”. Your heart is still beating, but the energy of loss often associated with betrayal and many hurtful things from lost dreams does it's work in them. People have been said to have died from a broken heart, and upon autopsy their heart was torn open. It is said, this is how Yeshua actually died. The proof was when the Roman stabbed him in his side and the “blood and water” flowed. Those who know biology know that was the indication of the heart tearing open and a heart being broken physically. I use these examples not to stir up any religious discussion, but to show how everyday sayings come from a deeper spiritual understanding we have within our cultures.

The evil eye was much feared in cultures and warded off via amulets, beads, paint on doors etc.. Some incorporate various metals into the beads, others just touch them when feeling someone is giving them the evil eye. Those who do not put much stock in physical things being able to protect them, simply focus on surrounding themselves with white light or a shield of some energy they feel is protective. Some say it is not a good thing because it is living in a state of fear and you draw it to you by feeling you need to be protected. I can understand that viewpoint. I can also tell you, that just because you are not looking for something does not mean it is not looking for you, and if you find yourself suffering from various ailments such as depression, suicidal thoughts, anger then maybe a spiritual house clearing is in order and you do suffer from barbs, chords, parasites who are enjoying your energy.

In working with healing others, I see their spirit body, and can see those chords, barbs and wounds. Most often they feel hot to the touch in spirit or sometimes very cold. The cold ones are typically felt in those who have shut themselves off from feeling deeply. It's a protective mechanism we do internally for self preservation. These are often more difficult to heal because as a healer I cannot make anyone do anything, and they need to open up which is a fearful thing for them. Healing cannot take place really until they recognize their pain and we typically don't want to feel pain, hence the blocking and inability to function as a whole being.

Wounds often have a black tar look and feeling. They are sticky and often go fairly deep into the spirit body. That energy has to be removed, cleansed in universal energy to neutralize it, and healing energy put in place of that open hole. It is very important that the healer not fill it with their own energy as that will put an unhealthy and unnecessary tie into that individual. I will state here, that this is another place for discernment. Not every spiritual healer is out for your own good. There are many who want a tie to you. They want you dependent upon them because typically they are paid for their work in some form or other. They may have a guru mentality and want followers. You are never more vulnerable than when you are hurt and someone heals you. It's the Florence Nightingale syndrome and it is a powerful tool that can be exploited by a dishonest healer or spiritiual teacher.

There are a lot of examples of the evil eye pendant. Many cultures have their own, and the colors they use are symbolic of various things. Blue is believed by the Turks to disperse negative energy. In some circles black disperses it, hence the use of black stones and such to protect against dark or negative energy. It's an interesting study to see how various cultures do use color, metals, herbs, crystals and such to work with energy and put it in jewelry for spiritual reasons.

Just remember to best protect yourself, it is important to recognize what is happening. To pay attention to your spirit body, and respond first by raising your vibratory level and not respond in kind. That last one is the hardest. If you find yourself in constant attack of such angry and hateful energy then you may desire to learn more on shielding and clearing your body and home.

Some would also say, if you are constantly under attack to look at your own actions. I have been told this recently because of some of my own writings. My writing style can put some off when I am in a heated debate. People react strongly to discussions of spiritual beliefs, politics, religion etc.. I think it's always a wise thing to be mindful of our own energy and actions. I also believe that anytime someone brings to our attention something about an event or actions that surround a person or event of a spiritual, religious, or political nature, that often times many who are deeply connected to that event or person will become angry, very protective, and aggressively defend against what they perceive as an attack.

It most often is not a conscious attempt to cause harm, but the energy is very real. The best course is to step back, cleanse, and use some form of energetic protection in whatever form works best for you. There are many available, but they take time to develop.

Superstition about the "Evil Eye" is prevalent in many cultures, and symbolizes taking power over someone through envy, with evil intent. This curse is said to cause half the deaths among mankind. Some beliefs attribute this power to envy, with the envious person casting the evil eye unintentionally. Since antiquity eye symbols have been attributed with the ability to ward off evil. The Fatima, a hand with palm towards you and an eye in the center, is a talisman that wards off the Evil Eye. Women in Egypt painted their eyes and lips to keep evil out. Other protective amulets include bells, brass, red ribbons, blue beads, garlic, and hanging charms in the window. Denying success and good fortune could ward off the effects of the Evil Eye by reducing the probability of envy. Personally, I would not choose to stay poor and unsuccessful as a talisman, but to each his own. (Ref: The World of Symbols ebook)

Most excellent post Unified. I hope that we all listen to this one, CLEAR ourselves and most importantly protect ourselves from the parasitical entities that are very real and are challenging the consciousness of Avalon today. Without this clearing we are all going to post and converse in the "Victim" mentality. Which is dangerous for those of us wishing to peacefully discuss our thoughts and facts about the issues we are all interested in. Make no qualms about it, this is a spiritual war going in here and Avalon in many ways (not all) is the playing field. The people here are either waking up, awake, or finding the tools to begin their journey. It is of the utmost importance that we view this process with Truth and Reverence. This in my opinion does not mean to quell expressions of anger & discomfort. On the contrary, we have every right to feel emotional about how Truth is effecting us... but we can not be passing judgements on others here in fast knife-like communications that wound those we are talking to. Yes, a thick skin helps. But I kid you not... There are other forces at work here that love to see us at each other's throats. Remember, I hope, please... clear these energies before they speak for you for thus: you are not in control of your own consciousness. Let's try to own our words for ourselves and take full responsibility for them, love and light included.

yeah the evil eye thing is a sort of supersticition but based in how energy works.

I call it having an 'intention' on me. Other people who sense other people's intention whether willfully or because they have no control over their emotions or their trigger points can sense on others. I know this I see it all the time. iIt no longer affects me. But when I become aware of it I don't react to it , I do respond to it in ways I'm sure the people directing it at me would pitch a fit over...lol.

Pervesely when I feel intention directed at me, and there's a very loud phsyical response that occurs here when it occurs depending on how energetically manipulative the sender is, that clues me in that someone out there in the world is unhappy with me...lol...and, then, I have a field I bring up. It takes that energy and converts it to ...abundance. Could be money, could be material goods, could be some enriching experience ---who knows how its going to come in. I've told other people about this mechanism because once that intention comes into your personal space you can do whatever you want with it once people are giving their 'power' away. And they found it works too.

I don't have to pitch it back at them because then it just becomes a game of pushy pushy . Like swatting at mosquitoes, it just won't end that way, more come in.

I just take their ill will and its transformed into something that serves me. Sorta like if someone puts a gun to your head and you take it away and get a new outfit from it. I'm happy, I don't care how they feel about it....lol. ..And I let them know this that every intntion they direct at me, serves my purpose. Therefore they are serving me. All things can serve my purpose. Sorta I'm god....lol. And they still KEEP doing it. They have zero control over it. So they throw more at me and I get more...lol (slaps knee).

But doing well is still the best revenge (wink)

Do you see the absurd humor in this? I mean I'm not the most spiritually advanced person but if I knew someone was profiting from my evil eye I'd stop doing it! Why should they profit from my misery? Then again i don't evil eye people.

If they don't like that they can stop put their intnetion on me anytime. And thats what I call that out , because I know who is doing it, and I just like them to know what im doing with it. They're serving me.

But I didn't MAKE them do it, they did it by their own choice and if they knew what was really occuring here you'd think they'd stop doing it.

i have a physical representation of myself and its nearly like a doppel ganger for me. That's where a lot of unfiltered intentions go. What people could call a psychic attack, because several times of years that furniture or room that holds that representation of myself is torn apart mysteriously.

3 or 4 times over the summer my dresser drawer where that representation was stored at was tipped over, the drawers scattered. I intially thought these so called attackers had really bad aim, after all they aren't doing anything to me directly. Am I to be worried over someone who aims that badly? I don't self identify or have my identity bound up in my dresser drawers....lol. Once I realized that physical representation of me which is actually a doll, was attracting that energy. So I made a lot of phsyical representations of myself to lure them off.

I suspect that charm you posted there works in a similar way. A sort of energy draw off or lure.

Eagle,

Why you lil witch you! Have I told you today how much I love you? Slaps knee laughing. I like my Hecate shield and it is very useful in teaching life lessons, but dang girl, I like your style. I think I shall try out your method for a few weeks and see what happens about owning their intention when it comes into my space. To think I have been wasting some excellent opportunities. Well, it's the warrior in me not the pragmatic business woman, but here it another wonderful post!

Please anyone I have pissed off, will piss off, or just in general upset their new world order plans of take over let me own your energy, it could be quite fun!

Great post Eagle.... I always know when I am writing a new thread there is a purpose to it.

Cool post. I have been familiar with the evil eye since living in the mid-east as a teen. Generally the "evil eye" talisman itself is considered good luck. My impression was that it did not represent the evil eye but was used to ward off the evil eye. This design is also painted on the bow of many boats and ships in that region.

You are correct, it does not represent an evil eye but a ward off of someone's energy who is looking at you with evil intention.

Naomi Campbell wore the evil eye amulet when she appeared as a witness for the prosecution in the war crimes trial of the former Liberian president Charles Taylor. Why? Well look at the business she's in for a start. The girl's not stupid. And she knew what she was up against there with that whole blood diamond thing.

I always know when I'm under attack but I have never, before or since, have had it as bad as during the Charles saga. I was so ill for a week, it was like I had post natal again.Bad! And when I was post natal I had literally lost my mind so going thru it again (altho watered down this time) with Charles really scared me, I cant lie. I only posted in his thread once. I got straight out of there. As soon as I engaged in other threads, fine. Back to his thread and Bam! again. Ive upped my game since then, hopefully! I'm grateful for the experience. Keeps me on my toes!

Lisa, did you feel it was an intentional attack or just so much hyped up emotion surrounding that as some were so strongly supportive of charles and some a few were warning others? I know for most of the times that people have strong feelings about stuff I post that it is not intentional attacks. There are a few times where a gifted person will purposefully seek to harm me but they have never been successful on Avalon. For me, I think most of it is just emotional arrows flying around. There are a few people who come on who intend to stir up a lot of stuff, but mostly they are just trolls.

You are all right about the physical Evil Eye: it is in fact a protection against the energetic evil eye, probalby the way your dolls representatiion of yourself, Unify Serenity, are. However, something interesting about it is the following: blue eye people are deemed more powerful to cast the Evil Eye on someone than brown eyes. Therefore the physical representation for protection is blue, against the most powerful caster of evil energy.

This makes sense if you look at the Khazars an other blue eye people from the north going down on Turkey and Eastern steps Asians (Turks origins) and casting bad spell, as would say our "regretted" LS.

The other thing that is this:
From Lisab: I always know when I'm under attack but I have never, before or since, have had it as bad as during the Charles saga. I was so ill for a week, it was like I had post natal again.Bad!

Lisab, I am pretty pretty sure it was willful attacks, lets say a feeling.

i have a physical representation of myself ....

That's an interesting idea, I might try it out.

I also know when I'm under attack, I haven't felt it fromn any Avalonian dealings recently (thankfully) but certainly did feel it just after I first joined, in the Charles aftermath, I was horrendously ill and felt as though all my energy had been sucked out.

When I lived in Peru, my girlfriend was from a rural background, and for her and her family, the evil eye was very real. Her 3 elder siblings were all killed by brujeria (witchcraft), as was her cousin during the time I was there. In all these cases, they'd had run-ins with someone who had subsequently cursed them and they all died rather unpleasantly. Then her little sister started having problems - violent nightmares, waking up with someone present attempting to kill her. She didn't want to stay at home, so she came to live with us, and with a combination of stuff I did myself, help from her shaman uncle and also from the local church, she was fine.

Wow, that is a killer story. Sounds like you need to flesh that out and start a new thread with it.
I mean, it sucks for everyone involved, and I'm sorry about anyone dealing with death and tragedy on that level, but the fact you experienced all of this stuff first hand makes your telling of it extremely valuable.

The thing I learned through taking like 15 credits of useless anthropology in college is the difference between a sorceror and a witch.
In all primitive cultures across the world, a witch is someone who through negative thinking and or negative wishfull thinking brings about negative happenings to folks.
A sorceror is a conjurer, or some one who uses a ceremony of some sorts to bring something about. The witch just makes it happen by thinking about it.
This is just a by-product of thought, kind of a negative version of the power of intention. This is what I think the ancients meant by the evil eye.
The evil eye was associated with someone who was considered a witch.

Thanks for the definitions.

It was an interesting experience, not least because I was (once again) faced with a dichotomy - My belief was that someone could only cause you harm if you believed it; and here was a family, indeed an entire culture, who did believe it ! Which version of reality should I accept ? So I did what I knew best, rode the knife edge in between.

If others would like me to flesh the story out, I'll do so, but I don't really want to give it its' own thread, right here is perfect. I'll see what the response is, and sometime next week I can tell you all more, if required. I don't really want to make a drama out of someone else's siuffering, I'm sure you know what I mean. ;)

I'm not sure what qualifies as primitive culture, but a lot of cultures understand that one does not have to be a witch to cast energy. I hope no ill will is expressed towards my friendly witches via this thread. I have worked with many an amazing and gifted witch, sorceress, and such. We all have the capability to positive and negatively impact those around us in the physical world as well as cyber space. The energy is very real, and unless you are aware of it, you can be affected by it. Ever hear of a glamour charm? I obviously have not been employing them, but I sure can spot them when they are employed.

We have to examine root meanings of words such as wizards and such ...wizards meant wise men...

But as deeper in ignorance the bigger the need for mysticism and veils around people and might.
Liberating thought is always the one which connects with Creator-Source-Love.

Smiles, hello Beren,

It's been my experience that witches was the translation of wise ones from the word witta. Wizards are not witches, but from my background were actually used in the hunting of witches. Of course that is from a Stregheria root. Many think a wizard is a male witch, but a male witch is just a witch.

I think the basic concept of witches being 'wicked' comes from the social/political/spiritual switch over from a matriarchal society to a patriarchal one.

Lately, when I look at someone who is facing away from me they almost instantly turn around and look at me. It used to take a lot longer and often didn't work at all. I wonder what changed.

Single women into herbal remedies are easier targets and scapegoats. Wherever you go in the world there will be someone closeby who is looking for a target. When times get tough there are more. People don't like to point fingers at people they perceive as being stronger than themselves so they usually go for the skinniest little woman they can find. :)

That's possible, my own opinion is that, that's another misdirect "they" are using to keep the human race fighting and that the real underlying reason was to get rid of anyone who could see through them and their designs and devices and fight them successfully on their own spiritual/psychic ground as was the case with the Cathares or Albigensians and, later, the real Templars

Oh, the Catholic church most definitely gained more and more success because the land grabs and other material possessions that were allowed to be stolen from those labeled "Witch". I loved the test of if they used the dunking chair and you survived you were a witch but if you drowned you were not a witch. Gotta love those trials. It's sort of like asking someone if they've quit beating their wife yet, lol. catch 22

That of course is a favorite tactic of those who manipulate information and debates. They throw out information that is not germain to the discussion, focus on red herrings, and confuse the topic. People get tired of it, and stop interacting.

The energy is very real, and unless you are aware of it, you can be affected by it. Ever hear of a glamour charm? I obviously have not been employing them, but I sure can spot them when they are employed.

I think you are getting caught up in semantics. My use of the term primitive culture does not need clarifying. Your use of the term witch reflects a pagan connontation, where as I was not reffering to paganism, or wicca or anything like that.

I agree that energy can affect folks even through cyber space though. I remember in my first couple of weeks here, back in May, folks were clamouring for Bill's attention, and I guess he had better things to do because he wasn't responding to anyone. I called out one thread creator in particular for his song and dance in this vein and did not realize the avalanche of posters who would rush to his defense. On top of this, I felt a psychic indigestion from all the negative attention for a good two days. I look back on it now and can see I was a bit obtuse, but se le ve, sometimes you have to break a few eggs to make an omellete.

Well going on the descriptions above I feel almost demonised. I feel so angry all the time. I suffer with constipation and feel the heat more than a lot of others around me. Everything winds me up, sometimes to an extreme point. My marriage is suffering and my kids think im a total tw@t. Iv'e just bought meditation for dummies, but only just got to page 30ish, so not really got into it yet. How the hell do I stop it and become serene? I feel so down most of the time.

Thanks in advance.

I can give you a simple way to stop the babbler and quiet the mind. Get it busy doing two things at once, it's the trick of speaking in tongues or saying the rosary. I don't really care what method you use, Greek worry beads work well. Here's the trick. Saying the rosary is not about actually getting through ten hail marys, a glory be and an our father then rinse and repeat. It's about focusing on say the mystery of X while doing a rote behavior you don't have to think about really. This causes you to go into an alpha state and then delta, where spiritual connection begins in earnest.

Speaking in tongues (No I don't want to debate this as I don't have time, but charismatic christians do this babbling and it's not a miracle or special angelic tongue, but it does open your mind up to the spiritual plane and that is not so bad) does the same thing. You focus on babbling while also meditating on a thought. Pretty soon that stupid babbler voice that never shuts up in our head is quiet and we are spiritually open and able to rest and gain some insights, healing, forgiveness for self or others etc..

Yes, I know you feel stupid doing this, but I do believe it's one reason we see schizophrenics babbling to nothing because they are speaking inwardly to some spiritual entity or experience we cannot see, but they can see. No, you won't become schizo doing this though friends will think you are so don't do it in front of others. It's like yelling / screaming as loud as you can while driving to work can clear your energy paths, just dont do it at a stop light with your windows down.

If you need some more help let me know. Also, 4,7,8 breathing is excellent. Inhale to the count of 4 through your nose full chest inhale, hold for 7, and exhale to the count of 8 through your mouth a full exhale.... do this 4 to 8 times and you will switch from your stress mode to your relaxed mode or better known from para-sympathetic to sympathetic mode. Look of Dr. Weiss as he has several relaxation techniques that work well. Oh, while doing 4,7,8 put the tip of your tongue just behind your upper front teeth on that ridge... it helps connect to your spirit and body.

Much love... now take a deep breath and relax...

Okay I'm not to analyze you in public but before we go into the demonising part of it , you are hoarding or rather holding on to something from early childhood. That's the consipation talking, your emotional disorientation is expressing in the physical. Literally one's body talks to them in this fashion. You can't give you're **** up , I now that sounds facetious but truly its really as simple as that. I'd have to ask you why are you angry? All the time. Do you know? Sometimes we don't know why we are angry and the anger becomes a subconscious thing always lurking about and ready to leap out .

Like pull yourself into the present moment when you get angry and ask yourself why you feel that way. It is okay to be angry, for one. Don't suck it back in, even if you don't know why you have to honor that you are angry and it may be anger that has been instilled in the past, imbedded, so we can't relate it to something in the present.

Why we are angry is the telling part. You may be behaving like a twat but chances you really aren't so we have to separate our anger behavior from what we really are to manage it. Judging ourselves doesn't help the anger it frustrates us more. Correcting our anger mechanism is more productive but we have to find it first and you may not have conscious recall of it. Some people get angry because they don't know what they are feeling.

If you are that stirred up traditional meditation will likely frustrate you. I'd try brain entrainment first .

Part of the reason you may be frustrating yourself is the expectation of serenity. We are hear to experience a variety of emotions the thing we just can't let dominate our lives. And most people who float around in a state of serenity are usually sucking something up and its just sort of external facade they put on. It's how your emotions are managed, that is really what serenity is about. Some gurky emotion rises, we manage, find out what we are reacting to and it's blown right there and the waters become still again. When they begin to manage you is where we get in a kerfluffle so...

Staring inside helps to alleviate any influence that is comes from the outside because once the internal mechanisms are dampened the external ones don't have any place to attach to.
