Energetics of the Evil Eye
In our modern culture, fast paced world of wheeling and dealing, hearing something as archaic as “warding off the evil eye” sounds silly doesn't it? I mean, who has time to focus on that stuff? Besides it's all mumbo jumbo make believe crap that is based on superstitious old religions.
Some people are afraid of everything, and some people ignore what's right in front of them. Which dog do you want to approach?

My father was a sniper in Vietnam. I have talked with other special ops men who shared that when they were going out to the jungle, part of the instructions given to them was to be aware of their surroundings and if they felt they were being watched that they probably were being watched and more than likely by a sniper. When you get this feeling, maybe the hair stands up on your neck or arms that is a signal to stop and take cover. It's a proven fact that we have another sensing ability and though it cannot be clearly explained in science as to how it works, but there is a lot of anecdotal evidence that shows people can tell when they are being watched, especially if there is strong emotion behind them being watched. Many a soldier owes their life to listening to that intuition and changing what they were doing. It is when we do not take notice that things go awry.
This is nothing new. This understanding of energy has existed for a very long time. In Turkey, the Nazar Boncugu is a charm used to ward off negative energy they attribute to the evil eye.

The evil eye is meant to fend off energy from others looking at you with malice, envy, greed and other negative emotions. Other cultures also have their pendants, and it is just part of the culture. In the west, we have divorced ourselves from “silly” superstitions. Yes, many call themselves Christian and do not even realize that the power of energy was directly addressed by Yeshua when he said, “To hate your brother is the same as murder”.
Why would having a feeling be the same as an actual act? If you ask this question, that is the first clue that you do not understand the power of our thoughts and energy. There is another saying in Christianity that mirrors other spiritual sayings, and that is “sow to the wind and reap the whirlwind” or “you reap what you sow”. These statements line up with the adage of “as above so below”. Nothing is created in the physical world without first taking place in astral and our thoughts. One does not just pick up a gun on a whim and shoot someone. There must be some thoughts prior and feelings. Oh, it can happen very quickly or it can be simmering for a long time and finally the person acts upon what has been in their heart. It could just be something was the final straw that sets them on a course of violence. Road rage is a perfect example of this sort of energy. Someone they do not know does something that sets off this inner rage that has not taken a proper way to vent itself, and in a split second they confront someone at a stop light who cut them off and pull out a gun and shoot that person in act of insane rage!
We have all heard these stories. We have all seen the senseless violence increasing in our world. How many of you who would have confronted someone years ago for an insensitive action no longer will because that person could pull out a gun and shoot you? We live in a time where we just don't know what is going to set someone off, and we don't want to be a statistic. We say, “it's not that big of a deal, let it go” and while that very well may be true, the people who act out inappropriately are no longer under any constraints because no one will stand up to them, and we see the violence and rude behavior increasing more and more. The really odd thing is, people have reasons to be offended in our culture as they go about their business and are insulted in various ways, watch selfish people ignore those around them and cut people off in traffic, ignore basic polite interchange, and anger builds. It's actually unhealthy for society as we keep turning away and not saying anything to those who live in complete 100% STS energy walking all over others in their daily lives. We work with them, drive with them on our roads, shop with them in stores and the anger builds. How many times have we heard, “Sam was the nicest guy, I cannot imagine what made him do this!” What “this” was, involved going to work and shooting 20 people and turning the gun on himself.
Negative energy is real. Negative energy takes root. Our bodies become dis-eased by it. We develop high blood pressure, migraines, stomach problems, digestion and bowel problems. That last one is very indicative of stuffing one's emotions down and blowing one's top. Being constipated regularly might be a clue that you are not releasing emotions properly. High blood pressure is indicative of getting ready to snap, and having a heart attack (one of the number one killers of Americans) is very indicative of a population tired of stuffing our emotions and hoarding negative energy. Jesus said, “To hate your brother is the same as murder”.
We are admonished to not be easily offended, to forgive quickly and to not let the sun set on our anger. It's not just spiritually that it affects us, but it is physically. When we become angry with someone we send energy to them. It's not a conscious thing, it is just how powerful we are. We are energy beings first, and when someone evokes strong emotion in us, and we react, we send energy to them. Our energy certainly affects our own body in various ways, but it also affects others. Those who can see in spirit will describe chords of attachment we all tend to have. Some of those chords are chords of loving connections built from a relationship such as those in one's family and close friends. Those chords are conduits of energy flow and can be both positive and negative. When a very important relationship becomes broken and we leave that person or they leave us, it can continue to receive energy and often it is not positive energy. There are ways to remove such chords. There are ways to use them for healing as well. There are also other things seen in spirit when someone is suffering and they look like barbs like one would imagine at the tip of a spear or arrow. It's a type of energy attack, and it is poisonous. It affects the spirit body which in turn begins to affect the physical body. This is where the saying, “She stabbed me in the back” comes from. She did not actually get a knife out and stab them, but what they are voicing is a very real energy of being attacked and for a sensitive person, they will actually feel the pain in their back! Or, the saying of , “He broke my heart”. Your heart is still beating, but the energy of loss often associated with betrayal and many hurtful things from lost dreams does it's work in them. People have been said to have died from a broken heart, and upon autopsy their heart was torn open. It is said, this is how Yeshua actually died. The proof was when the Roman stabbed him in his side and the “blood and water” flowed. Those who know biology know that was the indication of the heart tearing open and a heart being broken physically. I use these examples not to stir up any religious discussion, but to show how everyday sayings come from a deeper spiritual understanding we have within our cultures.
The evil eye was much feared in cultures and warded off via amulets, beads, paint on doors etc.. Some incorporate various metals into the beads, others just touch them when feeling someone is giving them the evil eye. Those who do not put much stock in physical things being able to protect them, simply focus on surrounding themselves with white light or a shield of some energy they feel is protective. Some say it is not a good thing because it is living in a state of fear and you draw it to you by feeling you need to be protected. I can understand that viewpoint. I can also tell you, that just because you are not looking for something does not mean it is not looking for you, and if you find yourself suffering from various ailments such as depression, suicidal thoughts, anger then maybe a spiritual house clearing is in order and you do suffer from barbs, chords, parasites who are enjoying your energy.
In working with healing others, I see their spirit body, and can see those chords, barbs and wounds. Most often they feel hot to the touch in spirit or sometimes very cold. The cold ones are typically felt in those who have shut themselves off from feeling deeply. It's a protective mechanism we do internally for self preservation. These are often more difficult to heal because as a healer I cannot make anyone do anything, and they need to open up which is a fearful thing for them. Healing cannot take place really until they recognize their pain and we typically don't want to feel pain, hence the blocking and inability to function as a whole being.
Wounds often have a black tar look and feeling. They are sticky and often go fairly deep into the spirit body. That energy has to be removed, cleansed in universal energy to neutralize it, and healing energy put in place of that open hole. It is very important that the healer not fill it with their own energy as that will put an unhealthy and unnecessary tie into that individual. I will state here, that this is another place for discernment. Not every spiritual healer is out for your own good. There are many who want a tie to you. They want you dependent upon them because typically they are paid for their work in some form or other. They may have a guru mentality and want followers. You are never more vulnerable than when you are hurt and someone heals you. It's the Florence Nightingale syndrome and it is a powerful tool that can be exploited by a dishonest healer or spiritiual teacher.
There are a lot of examples of the evil eye pendant. Many cultures have their own, and the colors they use are symbolic of various things. Blue is believed by the Turks to disperse negative energy. In some circles black disperses it, hence the use of black stones and such to protect against dark or negative energy. It's an interesting study to see how various cultures do use color, metals, herbs, crystals and such to work with energy and put it in jewelry for spiritual reasons.
Just remember to best protect yourself, it is important to recognize what is happening. To pay attention to your spirit body, and respond first by raising your vibratory level and not respond in kind. That last one is the hardest. If you find yourself in constant attack of such angry and hateful energy then you may desire to learn more on shielding and clearing your body and home.
Some would also say, if you are constantly under attack to look at your own actions. I have been told this recently because of some of my own writings. My writing style can put some off when I am in a heated debate. People react strongly to discussions of spiritual beliefs, politics, religion etc.. I think it's always a wise thing to be mindful of our own energy and actions. I also believe that anytime someone brings to our attention something about an event or actions that surround a person or event of a spiritual, religious, or political nature, that often times many who are deeply connected to that event or person will become angry, very protective, and aggressively defend against what they perceive as an attack.
It most often is not a conscious attempt to cause harm, but the energy is very real. The best course is to step back, cleanse, and use some form of energetic protection in whatever form works best for you. There are many available, but they take time to develop.
