Sky News led with the news that the Muslim Brotherhood is claiming responsibility for the bombings in Damascus, which they got from a report on a false website set up by Syrian intelligence. The Muslim Brotherhood are denying it yria’s Muslim Brotherhood has denied any involvement in Friday’s bomb attack in Damascus that killed 44 people, Al Arabiya reported Saturday afternoon.

The group rejected an earlier claim reported by AFP in which it cited the the Brotherhood as claiming responsibility for the attacks based on a statement on its website, which the group said is fake.

The website is the work of the Syrian intelligence trying to drag the Syrian Muslim Brotherhood into the crisis a source close to the party told Al Arabiya.

This is just an excuse for Israel (or someone) to hit Iran with a thermonuclear strike.

Meanwhile, while Obama distracted everyone with a big "Welcome Home" speech to some American troops, thousands of them didn't get to go home at all, but were marched into Kuwait to await further orders.

My money's on Boxing Day.

U.S. sets bounty for Iran-based al Qaeda financier

(Reuters) - The United States on Thursday announced it was establishing a reward of up to $10 million for information leading to Yasin al-Suri, who is accused of operating from Iran as a facilitator and financier for al Qaeda.

The bounty is the first offered for an al Qaeda financier and is aimed at disrupting a financial network that has operated from within Iran's borders since 2005, said Eytan Fisch, a senior Treasury Department official.

Robert Hartung, a senior State Department official, said that under an agreement between al Qaeda and the government of Iran, al-Suri had helped move money and recruits through Iran to al Qaeda leaders in neighboring countries.

Hartung said al-Suri, who is originally from Syria, also was known as Ezedin Abdel Aziz Khalil.

The U.S. Treasury Department in July blacklisted al-Suri and five other members of his network, exposing what the United States says are direct links between Tehran and the al Qaeda network.

Hartung said al-Suri's network serves as an important conduit for channeling both money and fighters from around the Middle East to al Qaeda leaders in Afghanistan, Pakistan and Iraq.

"He is a dedicated terrorist working in support of al Qaeda with the support of the government of Iran," Hartung said. "As a key fundraiser for the al Qaeda terrorist network, he is a continuing danger to the interests of the United States."

Since 1984 the U.S. Rewards for Justice program has paid more than $100 million to more than 70 people who provided credible information that either prevented terrorist attacks or helped bring accused terrorists to justice, the State Department's Hartung said.

Firstly, what is strange about this is that the official narrative about al Qaeda has always associated it with radical Sunni Muslims (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Al-Qaeda) - Iran is dominated by the Twelver Shia branch of Islam, which is the official state religion and to which about 90% to 95% of Iranians belong. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iran#Religion) Shias and Sunnis tend not to get along.... So why would Iran harbour an al Qaeda financier ... that alone doesn't make sense? Besides, anyone who has done any research knows that al Qaeda was brought into existence by recruiting Saudi Arabian Wahhabists - a branch of Sunni Islam and was funded by US intelligence.

Secondly, a $10 million bounty for a guy hiding in Iran? This implies he would have to be captured and "brought to justice". The only way that would be possible is if the US had full access to Iran .... which can only mean invasion ....

The tempo of rhetoric is rapidly increasing and a strike over the winter holidays would have maximum coverage and catch people's attention around the globe.
