Peter Schiff vs Cenk Uygur - Who Won?

Dec 22, 2011

I'm not a fan of Cenk nor the Young Turks, but I'm no fan of Peter Schiff either...Cenk and Peter Schiff, a self-declared "one percenter," go to the mat over tax rates for the rich. "Are you saying the bankers are not guilty of this at all?" Cenk asks. Schiff responds, "We don't have the benefits of capitalism any more because we don't have capitalism — we have a centrally-planned socialist economy, and that is why the average American is getting poorer."

Cenk cuts Schiff off — though Schiff keeps talking for two minutes into the void — and Cenk says, "He wants to blame the government for the problems, but he knows it's his banker friends who have given those donations, who buy their senators, who buy their staff members, so they can get more money. He doesn't want you to pay attention to that, because that's how they rob you. And he comes on here and goes, 'Oh, no no, it's socialism.' Socialism, my ass! The real problem is — and he's talked about it in the past, but he didn't talk about it there — corporatism, where the corporations come in and rob us blind."

I think you are taking Schiff's blow this place up out of context. He was saying if we knew there were weapons and we knew where they were located, we should blow up the location of the weapons, not all of Iran.

Schiff was the one warning everyone about the bubble for years before the collapse which hurt so many while guys like Krugman, Bernanke, Cain, Romney, Frank, etc were saying everything is fine.

I listen to Schiff's show on occasion and think he is pretty much on the side of the average American. I don't see how you can argue against the fact that we have a centrally planned socialist economy. Maybe he would have been better off saying we have corporatism but he agreed that the bankers are funding the government cronies. If you are going to play a game of poker where 2s are wild, you can't call the someone a cheater for having 6 aces. That is his point about removing the power from the government.

G'Day risveglio,

I too have listened to Schiff's show on occasion, but something in me just does'nt resonate. Call it intuition (Spidy Sense), IMHO I do here what your saying, but I still just can't bring myself to totally 'Trust' the guy...

Maybe it's got something to do with his 'Surname' who knows...:noidea:

If a congress critter is accepting bribes, also known as campaign contributions, they are the problem.
If the upper part of the 1% are offering bribes, they are also the problem.
Arguing who is the worst problem is useless.
The link needs to be broken.
