Preppers take notice! And this behavior occured in at least 2 places.... to buy a pair of $180 sneakers....
The release of the much anticipated Nike Air Jordan XI Concord lead to an early morning riot at Southland Mall and resulted in the arrest of a 21-year-old Detroit man who is accused of inciting a riot.
Taylor police said Southland Mall security called police for assistance at around 5:30 a.m. this morning when a large crowd of about 300 people were lined up outside. The mall, located in Taylor, was not scheduled to open until 8 a.m.
Police said about 100 people gained entry to the mall through two doors near JCPenney and Best Buy. The crowd forced their way into the mall by pulling the main doors open and created some minor interior damage to decorations and benches that were toppled over during a scuffle.
The crowd was safely dispersed with only one arrest. There were no injuries and the property damage was isolated to the interior of the mall. The mall opened at 9 a.m.
Police officers from Dearborn, Dearborn Heights. Brownstown Township and Southgate assisted Taylor police in the melee.
A similar scene played out in Seattle, where police used pepper spray.
The black and white sneakers, which cost about $180, went on sale after midnight. There have been reports that thousands have been lining up nationwide for the shoes.

Police pepper spray rowdy Air Jordan shoppers in Seattle
SEATTLE -- Police used pepper spray to break up fights among pushing and shoving customers waiting outside a Seattle area mall to buy the first Nike retro Air Jordan basketball shoes that went on sale early Friday.
Tukwila (tuhk-WIL’-uh) Officer Mike Murphy says about 20 people were sprayed in a group. One man was arrested for assault after police say he pushed an officer. No one was injured.
Murphy says more than 1,000 people lined up to buy shoes at 4 a.m. at four stores in the Westfield Southcenter mall. He says the stores sold out and all but about 50 people got their Air Jordans.
Hundreds of customers also lined up outside shoe stores in downtown Seattle and at a mall in Federal Way.
Across the country, at least four people were arrested at a suburban Atlanta mall after a crowd of customers broke down a door before a store selling the Air Jordans opened.
