Hey Peeps, I'm starting to research The Native American Indian Shaman, I thought i'd share it with Avalon and The Path Of The Spiritual Ones As Well. Very Interesting, to say the least.

Sacred Journey:

Ancient wisdom teaches us we all have guides which are always there to help us and that it is our self-imposed isolation that closes the doors for our alignment of these loving natural spirits to support us. Indigenous People of all cultures have known for centuries that all that Creator created has the gifts of Great Spirit. When we allow ourselves to step out of own ego and consciences mind and get into the spiritual realm of Creator, we are giving the blessings beyond belief.

Indigenous People have used the drum to assist them in entering this spiritual world. Science has now discovered what the ancient ones have known for centuries, that of going into a natural spiritual state known as theta brain wave. Theta reduces the brain waves to 4 -7 cycles per second allowing us to be in deep but conscience state. Normally, we operate in beta brain wave and when we are asleep we are in alpha brain wave which is a much higher frequency. Theta is a more relaxed slower brain wave state. Important here is that we are connected with our spirit and the Native American Shamanism school of thought, that of being connected to the heartbeat of the earth.

Mother Earth is the giver of all that exists. She is our provider of food, water, shelter, and eternal substance. Mother Earth has a spirit, a heartbeat and comforts us when we need grounding. It is when our heartbeat and Mother Earth's heartbeat rejoice in harmony, we can quiet the mind enough to hear the wisdom we are all so seeking. Through the use of the drum, we can harmonize more quickly and connect with our Power Animals and Spirit Guides.

Power Animals are those spiritual beings that guide us. These "angels" are from an earth based reality. Power Animals have very simple wisdom to share with us. These animals come to us in a shamanic journey to assist us with our questions, healings, and directions we seek. They possess what is known as "Sacred Medicine". Sacred Medicine is that unique gift which Creator put in all of us. Each animal has one if not more unique gifts. For instance, hummingbird is here to show us how to embrace the sweetness of our own nectar. That sweetness within all of us to use and embrace. They will come to us when we need a gentle reminder about being loving, gentle, and having grace which our spirit may be crying out. All that Creator has created has Sacred Medicine! They all know what their Sacred Medicine is except most of the two legged - US! They are here to support us to accept their give-a-way and show us what they have to share.

Spirit Guides are also here to help us in our search for self discovery. They live in the upper world. Oftentimes, they are in human form in appearance. Their wisdom is very simple, directed, and very clear. Again, through the use of the drum they can be reached and called upon to obtain answers, direction, and healings.

In order to change the outside world we live in, we must change our inside world. For what we think we create. Therefore, the hurt, pain, sorrow, harmony, love, and peace all come from within each of us. If our outside world is not what we truly want to experience then we can change it by healing our inside world.

Our Spirit within us is perfect, whole, and aligned with the Divine. Our Spirit never dies it cannot be injured, hurt, or betrayed for it is perfect. Our Soul is our essence of ourselves. It is here to grow, experience, and evolve. Each soul evolves in this life to experience all it can, much like being on an adventure. Some of the choices we choose on this adventure can be painfully traumatic. Our soul will survive this adventure and will continue with this adventure to encounter new lessons with a new body when the soul is reborn.

Sometimes when the soul's adventure experiences a traumatic lesson, the body does not or cannot integrate this experience. It cannot comprehend or understand the experience. This sometimes causes soul loss, which shows up as disassociation, fragmentation, feeling lost and not being able to be present. For this, the ancient technique called a Shamanic Healing used to heal the soul's wound and bring back one's personal essence or life force. This process is called Soul Retrieval.

Shamans have used the use of the "Shamanic Journey" as a method to connect with both Power Animals and Spirit Guides to obtain direction on how to help their people or obtain answers for their people. An example of this is what is known as Soul Loss. Soul loss is when a traumatic experience happens leaving the person with what is called a fragmented or dissociated psychological feeling. This is when a person perceives an experience as traumatic and the soul cannot integrate this experience. In tribal experiences, it may have been a loss of a child at birth. The family, especially the mother, may have soul loss with this tragedy. The shaman would perform a soul retrieval as soon as possible to allow the family to heal this and not have soul loss. This would be done to make sure no life essence was lost and that the spirit wound was healed at depth.

These blessings come to assist us to reveal and to clear blocks to obtain healings of "Spirit Wounds". "Spirit Wounds" are caused by a trauma experienced by a person by which the soul cannot integrate the trauma. This then causes a disassociation within the psychological framework of the person's soul. This often happens at a very young age, pre-birth or one, two, or three years of age. When the trauma occurs, which is perceived by the person, often times it is misunderstood and cannot be integrated by that person. When this happens Soul Loss occurs.

Birth itself can be a very traumatic experience. Coming from a warm safe environment to a loud, bright, cold environment with the possibility of a difficult birth can cause soul loss. Often, there are loud noises of machines and the nurse/doctors giving medical procedures on the infant. Not understanding what is happening and being frightened can cause trauma for the soul. Later in life, this experience may trigger additional soul loss from what is familiar such as visiting a doctor's office, a dentist's office, emergency room. These triggers stimulate in the brain may also triggering possible soul loss. Once the original causation is healed all else is healed.

In addition, we can hold trauma in different parts of our body. These blocks can cause dis-ease. Recently, I had a person come to me that had been diagnosed with Colin cancer the week before and she was having surgery the next week. We discussed the trauma's in her life. She had been through a very emotional time in the last four years. Her husband had died very suddenly of a heart attack. This was very devastating for her as they were in the process of building their dream house. She was extremely emotionally distraught. Upon finishing her house, she had her mother move in with her. Her mother was demanding and they had really never gotten along. She did not stand up to her mother and speak her truth, but would hold in her anger, resentment, and emotions. She could not digest all of these toxic emotions that were being held in her digestive system. She had five cancerous tumors the size of walnuts in her Colin. During the shamanic journey, we could see the blockage as well as the spirit wound. Through the process, we were able to allow her to heal this spirit wound and three days later, she was operated on with the doctors unable to find the five cancerous tumors. She knew that this was about her emotional trauma and now she is able to stand up and speak her truth and digest all of lives lessons. This is just one of hundreds of ways our Power Animals and Spirit Guides can help us.

Healing the emotional, mental, physical and yes spiritual wounds is what the shamans of all tribes have done for centuries. These techniques have worked for centuries and are available to all of us. Spirit wants us to be whole, balanced, and well at all levels. Spirit is talking to us in so many ways. With this method, we can access the divine wisdom of Creator.

Good stuff WF, thank you.
Roman, love you heaps..
but there are many many paths to the same place,
just saying..........

Shamanism is the first spiritual practice,
and the shamanic journey is the earliest
form of mediation. Some people that can't meditate
find they can journey just fine. There are many many ways of reaching
altered states of consciousness, this is one, and one of the oldest most
tried and true ways.

Its more a method than a belief system as it is very, very fluid,
once you connect you your guides and teachers they lead the way.
It's certainly not a dogmatic path. I liken it a lot to meditation, only it
uses the drum. What i like so much about this pathway is that its one
way to access the dream state in our waking lives, where we can
"dream a new dream into being".
Everything is energy before it is matter, and in shamanism one works
in the non ordinary realities to influence, heal, manifest, things in
ordinary reality. I think everyone would agree that here in 3D, in the
more "solid dream" we need much help and healing....

Many Blessings to ALL,
Astrid.

Hi Astrid,

Absolutely, right, but, its not the content, it never was, many paths correct, but only one understanding always, the message given in hundreds of ways, but only one understanding, we are all repeating the same massage over and over from all the threads, yet there is only one understanding, its the understanding that we all need to grasp, never mind the ways.

MY regards as always

Yes, but some need different ways to get to that understanding, yes??
Just think of all the different ways that people learn.
There are many, many ways to say the same thing.
If one way doesn't get through i try another.

Personally i find meeting someone where they "are at",
and working from there is much more effective,
than trying to preach my own personal take on things.
Why i have a heap of tools in my tool box, not just one.
Shamanism is one of them,
but if they are hardcore Christians, and wanted to wake up,
i would use something else. Make sense?
I don't see right and wrong, if it resonates and helps to move
someone from stuck to forward motion, then its the right tool.

Also Shamanism has some very profound and long lasting
effects with deep trauma, that nothing else can heal.
Look up Ed Tick he has been working with
war veterans for over 30 years, using the Shamanic method
and other tools, with astounding results.
He is one amazing man.

WF, i just found this set of Vids from ED,
I think it fits in well with your research, i hope you don't mind me posting them here.
( let me know if you do and i will start a new thread).

He sums up better than i could ever do why this path is having a HUGE resurgence.
It's about healing the soul.

There is much wisdom and knowledge in the oral mythologies and symbols left for us by our ancestors, shamanism is millennia old. In some mythologies (which does not mean they are untrue - a myth is based in fact) a person has to have overcome a deadly or crippling disease in themselves in order to become a shaman. In others they must do everything healing and positive for others, but not for themselves. A shaman friend of mine says "this is tricky business. All great truths are paradoxes...the illness part is when the wisdom is there to taken, given to you, it must be recognized by the outer self (the self that has been conditioned by society). This can be a very scary time for many people and they will revert to the security of what they were, or what they are used to. If one chooses not to revert, the "illness" is what called (summoned) the teacher, whether in the form of a person, in meditation, or from another form (art, books, scripture, nature etc....) Many shamans are cyclical in nature: Illness, retreat, learn, come back with more insight, wisdom...not necessarily being more visible. When I found my personal totem animals, I had an enlightening experience just from creating it. There is more about animal symbolism and totems in Symbology: Decoding Classic Images. There is also a lot to be learned researching Celtic Shamanism, enough different from Native American Shamanism to make it valuable, and enough the same to provide stability.

WF, thank you for starting this thread, very much. I have tried researching Native American spirituality on several occasions, but always ended at a brick wall. It seemed like a well guarded secret and I could never find it. This is awesome!
