Finland 'finds Patriot missiles' on China-bound ship

The Finnish authorities have impounded an Isle of Man-flagged ship bound for China with undeclared missiles and explosives, officials say.

Police are questioning the crew of the MS Thor Liberty after what were described as 69 Patriot anti-missile missiles were found aboard.

Interior Minister Paivi Rasanen said the missiles were marked "fireworks".

The MS Thor Liberty had docked in the Finnish port of Kotka after leaving Germany last week.

Dock workers became suspicious after finding explosives poorly stored on open pallets, and the missiles were then found in containers marked "fireworks".

The managing director of the ship's owner, Thorco Shipping, expressed surprise. Thomas Mikkelsen told AFP news agency from Denmark that he was unaware of the matter.

Another company official, speaking on condition of anonymity, confirmed the ship had been detained in Finland and said the missiles could have been loaded on to the vessel by mistake, AFP adds.

Police did not confirm Finnish media reports that the ship had also been scheduled to stop in South Korea, Reuters news agency reports.
'Quite unusual'

The MS Thor Liberty left port in Emden, northern Germany, on 13 December and docked two days later in Kotka, southern Finland, to pick up a cargo of anchor chains, said Finnish Customs spokesman Petri Lounatmaa.

It was bound for the Chinese port of Shanghai but there was no indication for whom the military cargo was destined.

Routine checks by Finland's traffic safety authority revealed a load of up to 160 tonnes of improperly packed nitroguanidine, a low-sensitivity explosive with a high detonation speed.

"Actually in our investigation at the moment, we have got the information that we found 69 Patriot missiles on the ship and around 160 tonnes of explosives," said Detective Superintendent Timo Virtanen from the Finnish National Bureau of Investigation.

Interior Minister Rasanen said she had not heard of a similar case.

"Of course, there are legal transports of weapons or defence material [through Finland] but in this case the cargo was marked as containing fireworks," she told Finnish media. "That is quite unusual."

Mr Lounatmaa said customs officials and police had launched a joint investigation into a possible breach of Finnish export and weapons trading laws.

He said that the crew of about 32 were being questioned.

Patriot missiles, designed by the US company Raytheon, are supplied to "US and allied forces", according to the company's website. South Korea is among states which deploy them.

I saw it on the Drudge Report a few days ago. A few facebook friends posted it, but other than that there's been no mention that I've found. However, it's not too surprising. What are they going to do - admit what's been going on behind the scenes????

I got a good chuckle not so much because it happened, but more because it was reported by the BBC (British propaganda station). I'm just glad they were intercepted so we could know (if we paid attention) and pray (meditate) about making our world becoming a safer place. I'm sure that someone's really upset that their missiles didn't get delivered. However, I'm glad to know that a plot against the decent people of the world was exposed and hopefully stopped. Seriously, don't we have enough missiles in the world already to do significant damage, if need be? Why do we need more sailing around the world?

God only knows why the Chinese would pay for Patriot missiles. I remember during the Gulf war Patriots were used against Saddam's Scuds and if my memory serves me they only managed to shoot down TWO Scuds. Remember the Scuds were very primitive weapons just bigger squibs you buy in a shop at 5 November. I think the US/British set of a hundred or more and about 99% of them never hit a scud.
Hmmmm....I wonder why?

From what I can find both China and the US say the missiles are bound for south Korea. In case the North does something silly , though I cannot see that unless they are provoked.
Could be a political compromise so both countries can save face ??? If So why carry them on a ship with no security, it looks more like a dodgy dealing to me !!

For what I know about miss-iles (old warhammer 40k joke) they were sent from germany (damn those NAZIS!) to south Korea (damn those Japs! We remember Pearl Harbor!)

They were labeled as "fire works". Mistake or not, that sucks. Ship carrying them were caught in storm and needed assistance of tugboat. Later the captain of tugboat said there were those crates (that later were found to be missiles) laying around the deck.

Funny part is those missiles were armed. So there was great risk of massive explosion (69 missiles, like 150tons of explosives). At friday ships captain and chief officer(?, not sure about title) were at travel ban.

Now I put my foilhat on my head and start massive OT.

- Finland keeps those missiles, as NATO slips in.
- Papermachine parts from finlad (Thor Liberty's reason to travel finland) are going to S-korea (why you say?)
- Now as Kim Jong Il is dead (murdered of course!) there is no leader
- S-korea and US lauch mega-ultramassive assault to N-korea and take over it.
- So now the Rothschild bank makes NEW central bank to United Korea and need to print billions of dept money
And so this puny Finland became part of massive dept fraud.

Israel is acting as a proxy for the USA. There's NO WAY the USA could sell them to China directly, so Israel has come to the rescue again - remember the USS Liberty was attacked by Israeli Air Force jet fighter aircraft and Israeli Navy torpedo boats, on June 8, 1967, during the Six-Day War. This was done to blame on Israel's Arab Foes. I've read that all countries's secret services are all controlled by the Elite, so it looks like they are all acting in cahoots to build up China for WW3. It also looks like they want the US & Nato to lose.
