View Full Version : Fairy rings..would you enter one?

Lore tells us that sometimes fairies come to our dimension, they dance, sing, drink and eat. Lore also says that after they finish the celebration a ring of mushrooms forms called a fairy ring "most of these mushrooms also tend to contain DMT"
Folklore states that if you enter a fairy ring it can have disastrous consequences. 1. Time- most often if a passer-bye is enticed to enter and dance with the fairies..if they only do so for 20 minutes, when they leave the ring , years in the 3rd dimension have past.
One folktale in Ireland talks of a girl who was on her way home with bread, she heard music and went to see what it was, she encountered a group of fairies having a jolly time, they induced her to dance..she did for maybe 10 minutes and told them she must go home her mom is waiting for her. When she returned home her mom was 20 years older, and asked where she had been..she said, she only went to the market to buy bread, and she gave her mom that fresh loaf of bread. The child didn't age, but 20 years past on earth.
Also folklore says that if you eat fairy food, and drink you will not crave earthly foods, and people can starve to death due to a lack of appetite..
So my question..many people are curious....I know I am..If hypothetically..you were walking alone in the woods, and heard music and dance, and seen real fairies and they invited you in..would you enter?
Picture is of folklore of a man who was enticed to the fairy circle. Unsuspecting to him when he leaves the circle years or centuries may have past.

Yes. I have.
Its one thing to do it while the fairies went away, but I am saying would one do this while the fairies are there? Not after the dance but during the dance? As we see in the photo?
Lore also tells as that the fairies make the mushrooms sprout up..They use them as stole to sit on when they tire. This is the reason of the fairy ring.
If you see any old folklore paintings you will notice fairies also alongside mushrooms. Mushrooms tend to be the doorway to fairyland.. "DMT"
Photo 1- is fairies resting on mushrooms. This is the purpose of the mushroom..same to us as a bar stool would be.
Photo 2- Is a man being seduced into entering a fairy-ring 'folklore tells us the fairies have a powerful form of enticement. The women is trying her best to pull him away cause she knows the grave dangers he in in for.

I would risk it......:)
Thanks for that...
Perhaps the world of fairies and other interdimensional little folk are closer than we think. I've spent times camping in Wiltshire and often there is a magical feeling. Like they are close.
When we are children we are immersed in the world of fairies etc etc but then puberty comes and....bang....suddenly it's not 'cool'...and the harsher realities of life take over.
I love that feeling of being close to nature and away from the hub bub of day to day life....it's like a natural high...subtly hallucinogenic.... like a natural trip.
Perhaps DMT gets produced naturally in our brain/body at these times?

Well since you are being specific: I would never think to enter a house, yard or party without an invite. So, I would request one, if it seemed appropriate. The answer would then inform my conduct.

Same could be said of UFOs, alternative medicines, religions..yet people believe them. i tend to think their is some truth in lore..Too many cultures and people have written about these things. i also think UFOs and fairies etc..all come from other dimension to this earth..not via spacecraft and stuff. Yes,,,I have entered a vortex that was very similar, but it was not of this earth. We consumed Manna (Bread) and drank many different colored liquids. We spoke through our minds not tongues, or mouths, and when the party was all over i shared my Peace Pipe with all of The Elders. Wow, what a trip it was indeed. And I do believe I saw Modwiz there as well, Bogarting The peace-pipe as usual, and he also was walking around laughing, singing, dancing and telepathically asking if anyone wanted a shotgun from this apparatus. Im ready for the next party, hopefully soon.
Heres a pic of me below, on that awesome day, i will never forget.

I chose my words with care. Some, some, some lore is blarney. That is to say that a fact, the fairies, is mixed in with other 'impressions' that then become conflated. This was my point. I would not mention stepping into a fairy ring if I thought such things were blarney.
I hope things are a little clearer now.

But do you understand you could be like Rip Van Winkle. You could end up leaving the ring and it could be the year 2232. Or then again maybe no time may have pasted. i suppose it is a risk. I think if no risk involved I for sure then would enter a ring, dance, get drunk, hopefully they have some high grade DMT to give me while there. Would certainly be interesting I would think.

I have a special soft spot for the wee ones since childhood and have ever looked to find a way to cross paths with them up to and including many hours in the woods for that sole purpose. Never told anyone about it but it was fun looking all the same! Methinks the experience would be awesome regardless of the outcome so again, I'd join them in a heartbeat!

Here is the documentary which is interesting called The Fairy Faith-2001 explore the legends and lore..all parts are on youtube enjoy!
This documentary closely follows the realm of fairy set in Europe. Many people are talked to about their belief in the little people and it's affects on them and the community. Shot on location, this film shows some beautiful scenery, and has some great close up looks at some key fairy points in Europe. You get to visit fairy locations and talk to artists who claim to see fairies, like Brain Froud. You also talk to people who claim to have seen or worked with the fairies, and how this has changed their lives, either for the good or the bad. This is a must see for those who would like to sit back and get a true look at fairies.

Ive never encountered fairies. Ive had a lot of experiences with Gnomes or
maybe you call them Brownies. They can be quite difficult beings to
associate with cos they exist with totally different rules and values than
humans do. And there seem to be places where the veils between our
and their planes is thinner as I have only encountered them on a few
specific locations.

I grew up reading every book of fairy tales that I could find, and have been enthralled with Findhorn ever since I first heard about it.
Especially the people there who can see the devas and work with them.
Just for the sake of speculation and blarney, if I could step in a fairy ring and be transported 20 years into the future, I would like to do it just so I could see the fairies for myself, and because I think things are going to be a lot better on the planet in 20 years' time.
And that would certainly be some experience!
I have 2 friends who swear they saw a little gnome while hiking through the Black Forest, and I believe them.

I met an elf once. I was hiking through familiar woods, lagging behind my talkative father and husband. By falling back, I could avoid all their talking. I neared a very pretty spot, that I often thought seemed somehow magically cared for. I reasoned that if there were fairies and elves in this particular forest, they would be there. The ground was bright green and mossy. Overhead madrone trees made dappled shade and the honeyed fragrance of their shell pink flowers perfumed the air. It was just a small 100x200 ft area that was completely different from the rest of the woods, more like a tended garden than anything else. I’d been there many times before, but on this day I was surprised to find a 3.5 ft tall elf step from behind an oak trunk, and smile at me. He was dressed in clothes made from woven moss and bark with a pointed hat, light coat that hung open, and brown trousers with soft knee high boots. He was very close, perhaps 5 or 6 feet away. He nodded at me in greeting and raised his finger to his lips to ask me not to tell my hiking companions. I looked up the trail to see how far ahead my dad and husband were, and when I glanced back he had vanished. I never saw elves there again, but at least I got to meet one of them for a brief instant.

Most of the time, when I meet the beings of story and legend, they do not make themselves visible like this. If I see them at all, they are flickers out of the corners of my eyes, or dancing lights. Usually they are felt as goose bumps on my skin or as a sudden breath. Some of them have become friends, but most do not care to have an ongoing relationship to me. They mostly show themselves when I plant tree seeds in the woods, or provide gifts for the wilderness in other ways, such as making stone circles or leaving a buried crystal.
The last one I met was about 2 years ago. I haven’t seen them lately since I no longer live near the deep oak woodlands I used to spend so much time in. Here is a personal story I posted on avalon about this meeting. I’ve included a photo of the portal he used for ingress and egress: http://projectavalon.net/forum4/showthread.php?14157-An-experience-that-changed-my-life&p=305123&viewfull=1#post305123
All the tales about loosing the ability to see them as adults are perhaps about loosing the sense of the sacred earth. And also they are really stories about people who no longer walk through the woods with a sense of reverence and awe. That is what brings them into focus and that is what attracts them to contact a person. IMHO
But .... I have never seen a fairy ring. And I’ve never had an invitation to dance in one. I would probably say yes if I was ever asked. My ties to this life are not that strong, and I love an adventure.

I think we need to be clear on something. All fairies are not benevolent. In my study of folklore 'with fairies being a very interesting topic for me' I have discovered in olden times many people had a fear of fairies, and also a suspicion about them. Really only Since about the time of Hans Anderson have fairies become a type of benevolent 'kind' being.
Fairies are well know in old folktales as possessing powers of magic, theft. and were known to kidnap small children. Our ancestors knew the truth of these little people, and told about this. Fairies also tend to be very mischievous. They have been known to steal small things, confuse people.
If one enters a fairy ring..
I think they need to know a few do's and don't.
1. Don't call them ugly, Lore tells us fairies are vanity driven and love to be seen as beautiful!
2. Fairies hate greed. So if ever invited. My advise is to be generous with them.
3. Do not steal from them. "As we all know the fable of the leprechaun and his gold.
4. Do NOT eat fairy food!
5. Treat them kind and respectful. Some lore says fairies were once human souls, and have human emotions and feelings. All because they are small don't think your a 'god' to them.
6. Fairies like cloth esp quality silk. This seems to be the most received gift.
7. In lore it is said the 'bells' of towns were made for the purpose to keep fairies away. Thus I imagine fairies do not like bells.( Contrary to Hollywood cartoons of them loving bells, and having bells on them Bells in towns initially were not only for sounding the alarm, but also for the purpose to keep fairies away from the town. Pr-Chritianity. People in places like Ireland and Scotland were afraid of fairies.
8. METAL! In all lore it is said that fairies hate metal..esp iron type and copper. It is best to empty pockets of all this, and wear clothing with no metal buttons. And if searching for fairies they often arrive in places where their is little to non iron content in the area.
9. Folklore says certain type of good luck charms help. Four leaf clovers, horse shoes protect against them. It seems the horseshoe is all iron and the u shape creates a type of bad energy. This is why the horseshoe and 4 leaf clover came as good luck charms to protect one against fairies. Also why in many homes in the past they would keep a horseshoe above the door as protection that fairies could not enter the home of the dweller.
10. Here in Ukraine many people are superstitious! Much more so then the west. And here many mother who take babies out after dark always place bread in the stroller. It is claimed this protect the babies from being kidnapped. I have 2 children and my wife when the kids were small done this.
11. Fairies tend to like the color green. "possible because they are natural beings close to the earth protectors of nature." If wishing to encounter one probably the best color to wear...all green with no metal buttons or zippers.
Throughout the centuries, all cultures talked of the little people. Some tried to avoid them, some tried to contact them. if i were to contact them or see then, i would be cautious, generous "hopefully could give them a foot of silk cloth" I would try not to offend them by having iron on my body. And would treat them with respect, all because they are little doesn't mean they are inferior.

something to share....
a couple or more years ago I was watching the long Marko Rodin Vortex Based Mathematics video...it's four and a half hours long so I did it over two evenings.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fI93jeaXGvs
As I was relaxing and letting the info enter...without fully understanding it and it's implications, but letting it swirl around my mind....I was also doodling a picture. The sketch was, on the face of it, very different to what I was listening to.
But then I realised that what might have happened was that listening to Marko's Vortex Maths vid....had opened up a kind of vortex and that 'the little guys' were coming through !!
After that I began to see them a lot, in my mind's eye...in the leaves of a tree, in the creases of the curtains, in the frosted glass of the bathroom window.
(I'm not crazy I promise you...lol)
anyway here is the doodle/sketch that I did as I let the Rodin info in...my little guys...
http://i365.photobucket.com/albums/oo93/beejay/my%20art%20and%20photos/littleguy001-1.jpg
interestingly Marko says that his Vortex Mathematics downloaded into him in one fail swoop as he was chanting the name of God...he is is very spiritual person and into the Baha'i faith.
so what I'm saying here is that although nature can bring us closer to 'the little folk'... that mind and spirit have no boundries...and given the right circumstances or vibration or what-ever, can be accessed anywhere...any time...any place.
But usually we are too tied up with day to day concerns to 'tune in'...?

A few years ago I created a sacred space underneath a Holly tree in my small urban garden. I made a meditation seat to watch the stars from, planted a yew tree nearby and put some windchimes in the tree. Imagine my surprise one morning shortly after when I found a large fairy ring of mushrooms on the grass underneath the holly tree! Not sure if this is related but it did make me smile! I've also noticed lots of wildlife being attracted to my garden since. When we first moved here 6 years ago, it made me quite sad that no birds apart from wood pigeons ever visited but now we have hedgehogs, bats, a family of blackbirds, swifts and yesterday a sparrowhawk was sat under the holly tree for 20 mins! A friend told me fairy rings were a portal to different dimensions, does anyone know anything about this?

I want to also state the positives of fairies! I wrote a few post back the negative implications, but I think lore, and peoples accounts also claim positive effects of being visited or having encountered fairies.
Many people who claim to have seen them while they were ill, and then once they awoke their sickness had past.
Relaxation , and calmness has also been mentioned by people who have encountered fairies.. A stressed person could feel calm, a nervous person relaxed. It seems fairies have a connection with the earths elements that they can use to sooth people.
increased meditation. One man i read of awhile back encountered fairies and claimed his left and right brain became equal after the encounter...thus having him now in a complete normal state able to meditate and think clear.
Good luck. Many accounts of people who were kind to the Fae, afterward received good luck, or were lead by a spirit type to finding lost treasures.
I read of one account of a man who was lead to a scared and very rare mushroom that contained a high grade of DMT..He took this and he recalled his encounter 'while in an altered state of conscience. Of seeing many fairies and communicating with them..he claimed he was lead to this magic mushroom via spirits.
I hope I have not given people the impression that i think all fairies are evil and mischievous. Some are..some are not. I think the main ingredient is how we as humans interact with them. if we want to use them for personal gains of find gold for material wealth or something like that, then that person may have something coming to him. I think if we enter the fairy realm with a pure heart and kind soul, the rewards will overshadow the negative.
Also i do not buy into the Irish myth that fairies were fallen angles..this myth came from right out of the Christian church! That fairies were on the Lucifer side of the angelic battle and were cast down to earth.
Photo below is the famous Leprechaun ..also a type of fairy. They were known to be shoe makers of the fairy. Also they are crafty, sly and mischievous. He carries two leather pouches. In one there is a silver shilling, a magical coin that returns to the purse each time it is paid out. In the other he carries a gold coin which he uses to try and bribe his way out of difficult situations. This coin usually turns to leaves or ashes once the leprechaun has parted with it.However, you must never take your eye off him, for he can vanish in an instant. Also they are known to be alcoholics, and often found to be drunk. They are said to make their own brew..

IIRC way back when a lot of this folklore arose re fairies, little folk etc. a more conventional explanation was that they where having the odd mishap in the making of bread...it seems that at times some of what was produced contained an over abundance of 'ergot' which apparently led those consuming such to see (hallucinate?) the wee folk at the end of the garden.

My sister and I were always stumbling across fairy rings and toadstools. I leave them gifts in my garden they gift me telling dreams. Thanks bestlion great thread. Yes, giving them gifts, rather than taking things from them is a big key. That is what happened in the experience I linked to above. When I wanted to harvest the mushrooms the gardener became quite cross and nasty. He changed completely when I offered white polished stone I treasured. After I gave the little gift, he actually blessed me and the mushrooms I harvested. It was an amazing experience. http://projectavalon.net/forum4/show...l=1#post305123

Dawn I would love to read that, but the link you posted is not opening..or maybe it is only for moderators?? Is was what the post you posted in this thread?
I agree, I think being generous is the key, i also speculate that the Irish when seen fairies always wanted to take from them "gold, wishes, gifts" and thus many fables could have spinned that fairies were bad..because the original person had a greedy heart when he encountered the Fae.
I tend to think fairies have emotions and often wear these emotions out in the open. From what i read of folklore seems the common case that fairies are very emotional, and easily offended if treated harshly.
Dawn I think its great that you have a kind heart to these wee people. I'm sure if you encounter them again you both will be blessed.

Hi, what a fantastic thread, Best Lion!
I've written quite a lot about the Fae, who I do converse with from time to time. They are the spirits of the Land and are accessed through Middle World journeying.
Through my contact with them, I've gradually learned that all those folk tales about them swapping babies for weak changelings and not eating food in their domain or you will get stuck there for a hundred years, and so on, were probably just tales put about by the Church in order to stop the 'pagans' have any kind of relationship with them.
I find them to be very reasonable people, although I do treat them with respect because, frankly, they earn it.
However, I wouldn't walk through the middle of a fairy circle, but not out of superstition... more for the same reason that you wouldn't walk through someone's home, uninvited, because it's rude.
BestLion

were probably just tales put about by the Church in order to stop the 'pagans' have any kind of relationship with them.
I don't think so. most tales come from Scotland and Ireland..whom never really accepted Christianity until around 1850s. If you read of early American, most Celts and Scots were not Christians and never even went into a church.. Most of these tales came from the pagans and druids. Sure a little superstition along the way was added by the church "possible the stealing of babies" , but many of these fables date back a long time. Sadly throughout most of the former celtic nations : Ireland, Scotland, Wales, Brittany and Germany, the fairies are becoming things of the past. Even though fairies are commonly believed to exist today, from the eighteenth century (When Ireland and Scotland fully accepted the Christ faith) and on they have been seen less and less.
The Irish still say fairies live in the pagan sidh (burial mounds and barrow graves), several hundred of which still stand in the Irish countryside today. Fairies are thought to have a connection to the deadlands as well as to heaven. They have the ability to freely weave in and out of the heavens, the earth, and the underworld. Fairies are still thought to come out of their hills (fairy hills) at Samhain or Halloween.

It is part of the reason why I returned to Appalachia
It is part of the reason why I use the avatar blufire . . . . it is a reference to “foxfire”
It has nothing to do with dmt or selfish drug induced trips . . . such things are an insult to the realm

This is nonsense especially the part in green bold
A friend told me fairy rings were a portal to different dimensions, does anyone know anything about this?
Thats where fairies come from ..other dimensions..or so this is stated via myths and legends. Also why the tales of people who enter the fairy rings often loose time-space..and reappear weeks or years ahead in time..so the ring is a inter dimensional phenomenon. It seems to lack time and space. But remember, things are not always as they seem to your outer five senses. Everything in the physical world has its counterpart, its mirror image so to speak, in the Unseen world or realm of spirit. And within that dimension lies the realm of nature spirits. When these two worlds interconnect, unexpected things can happen. Among them, the appearance of special fairy rings.
If one came too close or was foolish enough to enter a fairy ring, they could be captured or lured into hidden, magical regions. And woe to those who built a dwelling or church upon a fairy circle. Most are now in ruins. "My advise to you is do not build a barn-object on the fairy ring you seen in your yard! If you come upon a fairy ring, that is a good indication you are at a place where our two dimensions more easily meet (at some times). Nature spirits often use the circle in ceremonies and festivities. It is a symbol to us, but also a way in which we organize ourselves. When we gather in particular places, and there are particular characteristics present in the environment there as well, then the energy we generate combines with what is there, and such a ring can occur.

This is what folklore tells us. Also read Graham Hancocks book Supernatural, he talks of the same stuff with many account on it. Graham gives many lore stories about how people have entered fairy rings and came out years later in the future. As i said this is lore. i never claimed this to be scientifically proven..Most stuff on this site can also in someways be traced to lore or conspiracy..If you want science, and solid evidence then your on the wrong forum. We here are seeking alternative ways to communicate with other dimensions, and to learn the reason why we are here, who we are, and to be connected more with our lost past.
This is NOT nonsense but well documented in folklore. Some us of us think their is some truth to all this. If your skeptical about it....then read about 911 stuff or other things then fairy lore.
It has nothing to do with dmt or selfish drug induced trips . . . such things are an insult to the realm
How do you know this is insulting? And if so why is it many of the shrooms in fairy rings contain DMT? Do the fairies want to tell us something or show us something via these magic mushrooms? Please don't be so quick to jump the gun and condemn anyone who wanted to see a new dimensional world via DMT. Some of us just are seeking answers to questions that religion, history, science has not answered for us.

So your using your one experience to disclaim near all the folklore about fairies, and also disclaim anyone who has taken DMT in order to see this realm?

I am not disclaiming the faerie realm at all or in any way . . . . it is there . . . it is around us.
I have been blessed to enter the realm many times
I have faeries around me almost constantly as well as other fae
I am from Appalachia where most people are from Ireland and Scotland . . . it is my heritage
My experience is first hand and constant
My experience is not based on a book or folklore or what someone on a dmt trip experienced
I am an advanced herbalist and have been to Guatemala and understand much more than most about dmt and entheogens.

were probably just tales put about by the Church in order to stop the 'pagans' have any kind of relationship with them.
They are still around, Best Lion, but they stay out of man's way because they find him to have increased in his destructiveness and ignorance about his place in the natural world over time. They tell me that they've been here, on Earth, a lot longer than us, and they're waiting for us to catch up with them in terms of evolved consciousness. They talk about the desired state of the sacred Triumvirate of Man, Animal and Fae. They say that they and the animals are already there, and they're now waiting for us. But they won't come near us with our consciousness as it is because the waves we send out mentally and emotionally are actually like jagged glass to them, and it pierces them, painfully.

Carmen: The book you are talking about is called "Summer with the leprechauns" from Tanis Helliwell.
That was the first book I read about the spirits of nature or devas or elves or whatever you wanna call it.
After that I really got interested in this topic, because I am a gardener. Read more books and eventually got in touch with this beings.
I have never seen them, but I felt them, being part of my meditation and had some "short conversations".
To me they are very honest and you should be honest when you talk with them.
The shamans I have contact to, for them the nature spirits and elementars are part of their everyday work.
That doesnt mean that they (the shamans I know) see them the whole time. They feel them and ask for guidance.
There are different stages (hierarchy) in the "nature spirit" world...starting from tiny white spots that help grass growing, to flower faeries who are
studying and helping flowers to become as beautiful as we see them and to "master souls" coordinating smaller groups of nature spirits.
They mostly avoid contact to humans because they know, what we people are doing to them. So you should have a pure heart to get in touch with them.
And good intentions, coming from your heart.
RUDOLF STEINER

I would like to apologize if I have offended or hurt anyone or if anyone has felt disrespected.
Bestlion . . . I said the part about loosing time and space or reappearing months, weeks or years later is nonsense, because form my personal first hand experience you do not. I have lost time of course but at the most I would say 10 or 12 hours.
Most of what you hear about the faerie realm is folklore or myth simply from the fact that most who have experienced the true realm will not talk about it. Not out of being prideful or selfish. When the realm feels you are ready to be a part of the world . . . to whatever extent. . . you will see it and experience it.
If you desire or want to be a part of the realm it will appear to you within that place of greed or selfishness.
If you enter the edges of the realm through dmt or drugs then you will experience the realm from that “state” of mind.
You do not choose the realm the realm chooses you

Yes Ishtar... we went so much away from them that it is really hard to reconnect to the little folks.
And for them it is hard to jump in our "disturbed frequency".
But, as we need them, they also need us to survive. (Thats what I read in a book)
People dont know what they do to nature, because it comes back. Because we are living together on this planet as one organism. (That is what I was told)

I dont agree. And folklore tells otherwise. Let me tell you of my trip while on DMT since this is a fairy thread.
I did magic shrooms in Nov 09. I awake to a door..i entered the door and seen a large snake. he said beyond here you can not go...I ventured on..I then encountered 3 female fairies. All with pitch black hair..and short hair..no hair locks. They communicated with me and then i with one of them took aside. She was pretty and kind and soft. She told me I can not understand,, my mind is not equal in frequency to the realm. She took my hand and lead me ' BTW I am of the opinion that fairies have no Puritanical morals as modern men have" We went it seemed in circles until I came to a new fairy. Again a women. Black hair. "i did not in my trip see one fairy with light hair" i then was lead to a ball where they danced...music which I heard before...maybe stolen music or music which they gave the composer...now I knew something new. fairies are not immortal..they live and die like us..but with a longer lifespan. i was then lead to a funeral. A male fairy had died...he had 21 children. He was at least 900 years old when he died."but looked 45". The funeral was not of morning but of celebration, they danced, sang, and fornicated ..yes in my trip they were often having sexual affairs. My trip ended about this time lasted maybe 7-10 minutes in fairyland.

@ Carmen
It is really neat to read...and one thing that comes up in most of the books regarding this topic is, that they are trying to copy us.
Just recently I read a book where (I think) that she (Tannis Helliwell) gathered around all elementary being, nature spirits and devas from the planet to one big meeting.
Like United Nations of the elves, dwarfs, gnomes, sylphes, salamanders, undines and all the other words.
And all came in their national folklore clothing...behaving like kids, playing and fooling around-taking their existance as a funny game...
Because they know they will not die, just to ascend into another realm and growing from their experiences and eventually come back to earth.
And I think we used to see them when we were little. I am a boyscout ever since and had the great honour to "lead the kids". We often went into the woods and
they are teaching me.

Please ishtar . . . I’m really sorry and I apologize
But emphatically no . . . . . what you have said here is wrong.
This is from the human state of mind of guilt and loathing. This is ours not theirs. They are not human and therefore do not “feel” as we do
Our level of consciousness is not painful or like jagged glass to them . . . it means literally nothing to them. It does not effect them only us in our earthly journey
The realm is not waiting for you to expand or achieve another or other or higher or better levels of spirituality or consciousness
Consciousness or higher spirituality is not something one achieves or gains or masters . . . . it is not “levels” . . . higher lower better worse (duality)
It folds and melds and swirls . . . no time . . . no place

What you say is how “we” understand it. That we are lesser or bad and need to evolve or “get better”.
It is sad that I rarely observe people here on PA actually acknowledging humans in a positive light.
Not all the synergy or symbiotic experiences that humans emit or release is negative or “low vibrating” . . . . . far far from it
They . . . the fae . . . are not human nor were they ever
They have not evolved from a “lesser” human and we will not evolve into the fae
We cannot become “one” with the fae . . . .this a human desire because we view the fae as magical and mystical and special and so to be able to experience the fae realm or to become “like” the fae would by design make us special or better or magical or mystical

ishtar I do respect and honor your own personal experience. As I stated in my post #51 those of us who have experienced the realm experience it in different ways and it largely based within your personal agenda or in how your thoughts have been influenced or by true invitation.
But, again I feel I should reiterate . . . . you do not choose the realm . . . .the realm chooses you. And if you have been to the same realm I have you will understand and support what I am saying. To say that the fae in Glastonbury are different than the fae in Appalachia would be like saying that I am distinctly different than you. We are both human . . . . with all the traits all humans have. The fae beings are the same. I’m truly surprised you would say such a thing if you have been to the realm by invitation. And I need to say that the only reason I am coming hard against you and saying that you were wrong is because you are presenting yourself here on Avalon as a bit of an expert on some very important topics. You have not been shy in saying you were a priestess in a past life and bring knowledge from this life and that you are supposedly an experienced shaman. On this topic I am knowledgeable and feel it is my responsibility to at least provide equal conversation or debate.
My experiences began when I was a very young girl growing up deep in the mountains. My thoughts had not been colored or influenced by “outside” information. We did not have tv until I was around 8 or 9 or radio. I had not read all the folklore that bestlion has provided here on this thread. I had not been influenced by organized religion or new age “type” beliefs.
The only influence I had had at that time was my great grandmother (a mountain wise woman) had told me that at any time that I should see foxfire that I should go to that place. Foxfire is a beautiful bluish “fire” that on rare occasions you can see in mountains with old vegetation. Mountain people also call it “haint’ fire” (ghost) or more often “faerie fire”
And this is where my visits with the realm began . . . . . . when they lured or brought me to my first faerie ring by foxfire illumination. They quite literally “showed” me the way. I think I was around 10 or 12.
I am only speaking from my own experience and am repeating what I've learned from them.
Perhaps the Fae in Glastonbury are different to the Fae in the Appalachians?
In any case, we have different experiences and I respect yours enough not to say "No you're wrong," as I know how experiences with spirits do differ from person to person.

I would like to take the opportunity to say that you do not have to be special or on a higher spiritual realm or more conscious to experience fae Beings . . . I dare say everyone reading this thread has had several experiences in their own lifetime.
I do need to draw the difference though between experiencing fae Beings and the fae Realm.
There is one very distinct Being that I feel just about everyone has had contact with . . . my guess though is most have misinterpreted this particular experience.
Have you ever gone down a flight of stairs into a basement and felt an almost overwhelming and irrational fear? Have you felt that you are quite positive that “something” is going to reach through the stairs and grab your leg? Have you even jumped the last few stairs?
Then you have experienced the energy and presence of a particular fae Being. I hesitant to call it by the name most often associated with this Being because I don’t want to reinforce myth that is already associated with this spirit.
This Being has a very heavy powerful energy and can be very overwhelming and disconcerting. We interpret the energy with our human emotions as “low vibrating” “bad” or “evil” and that we are in danger because without proper understanding it manifests as fear in us. Actually to have this Being in your basement is a good thing and they do serve as a sort of protector although not in the manner we think as a protector.
I have felt these Beings in caves and very deep dark hollows of the mountains. They prefer darker, cool places and surrounded by the earth.
The next time you feel this energy and Being . . . . stop and let the energy wash through you until you feel a bit more settled. If you can overcome the intensity of the energy and accept it you will feel very grounded and safe. If you can’t or if other family members are upset by the Being you can ask it to please leave. You should thank the Being for its presence and voice the reason why you need for it to go. “Push” or “think” hard the feeling you feel when you experience the energy and presence . . . . it will help the Being to understand.

This thread is becoming more and more fascinating. I agree Bluefire, that the realm chooses you, you do not choose it. I have never tripped on any drug, and have met the fae only when in a reverent state in nature. I have felt very honored to be allowed to see and be aware of the various fae I've met. In each case they showed themselves to me or addressed me directly, which is why I noticed them. And in each case I have realized that the ones I've met are somehow deeply linked to nature and the earth in ways we are no longer.
I think that once in human history we were all people of the earth and very in touch with that world, however times have changed for humans. Our modern world has taken most people into a strange human consciousness which has separated itself from the natural world. From my experience and knowing, I believe that the fact that I honor all life, and take time to be in reverence and gratitude as I walk through the woods, is the reason I have been invited in, so to speak. And this has definitely not waned since childhood, in fact the contacts and the communication have deepened and expanded over the years. I walked in the woods every day for 38 years before the first of the fae welcomed me. And it seems they have spoken to others about me, which has worked as a recommendation to others in their kingdom.
I am so glad to be listening to your experiences and understandings. It has helped me to look a little at this, which I've never spoken of before.
Lucky indeed is the person who is welcomed by the fae and who finds mutual respect there.

You can find fairie folk in any virgin natural setting. That is if you have squeegeed your third eye as Bill Hicks states, or activated the Pineal Gland as Wilcock states.
Virtually any natural setting that is void of man and his nature murdering ways will turn up fairie folk, including the desert.
But as for the phenomenon you speak of, would I tamper with a portal, a visible portal going who the hell knows where, like discussed in "hunt for the skinwalker" by Goerge Knapp?

Wow Dawn, I am almost in total agreement every time I read a post of yours.
I have at times hoped our opinions would differ just so I could begin a freindly discourse over the disagreement, but it never happens.
The second time I encountered fairie folk, it was because I felt a sense of tension and unease. As I focused on my surroundings I became aware of a fairie folk person with the equivalaint of what we would call a dog and the dog was barking at me. I could tell the dog thing did not as a whole like human beings.
I found the oppurtunity to be something I repeat almost without fail in a nature setting now.
I told the little fairie dude that I meant no harm to the enviroment, that I would not hurt a plant or leave any trash, that I would respect nature in every way.
And as I told him this, he calmed his dog down and it stopped barking at me.
I don't always have my third eye blazing, so, now when I go into a nature setting, I just assume the little guys are there and repeat that phrase a few times to let them know I respect their land and person.

I haven't read much of this thread, but the mention of fairy rings made me want to mention this ...
There's a small piece of swampy land next to a river where I currently live, there is a single path that enters the area and loops around and leaves it a hundred or so meters away from where it enters, sort of like a U shape. The thing that I wanted to mention is that there's a straight line that crosses this path in two places on which a trail of mushrooms grow. Not exactly a fairy circle, but ... does anyone think that this "feature" could be somehow related to these circles?

(Sebastion said) Blufire Do you have to be alone when you are with them? Are they amenable to meet others thru your introduction? Is that in any way possible?
You don’t have to be alone to see Fae Folk. In fact I have been in my organic gardens before with people all around me (people would come to my farm in Kansas for produce) and I would see Fae playing and darting around. Most times children see and interact with them easily. I would smile when I would see people suddenly become slightly perplexed when a Being would engage a bit more with them. I could tell certain people would “feel” the fae subconsciously but not physically see them.
I cannot introduce you to the Fae . . . . I have before tried to show certain friends Fae Folk that are right in front of us . . . plain as day to me but they cannot see them. But I can assure you that you have encountered them in your life. If you simply acknowledge they do exist and let human preconditioning slip away . . . . you will see.

Hi DNA your “third eye” needs no squeeging or “extra” activation of the pineal gland to see or feel Fae. I feel this is another ploy to make people feel they have to be “special” in some way before you can interact.
An older secluded forest is more often where you will find faerie rings and certain Fae Beings. But Fae are everywhere . . .and certain ones can even be in your home.
As for fearing portals . . . . you enter a pineal gland activated portal every night . . . it is called dreaming ;)
Dawn our experiences sound very similar. You are a beautiful soul! As a child I spent every hour I could in the mountains. Now that I am back in the mountains I am falling back into my childhood ways and it is wonderful.

Thank you blufire for your experiences!
I have a long history with elves (faes, fairies or whatever we humans call them)
I won`t elaborate but will mention that some decades ago in a small village in my country where my grandmother and grandfather lived ,they used to have a horse whose hair was braided by night and my grandpa before he `d enter the stable he `d always announce his presence, respecting the faes or elves there. They would usually go before he enters or he would not see them.
They tried to replicate those braids but never they succeeded.
They lived on the remote farm and few miles from the main village.
Also when my now late grandfather was very young ,his dad and he saw a fairy dance in the mountain.

Hi DNA your “third eye” needs no squeeging or “extra” activation of the pineal gland to see or feel Fae. I feel this is another ploy to make people feel they have to be “special” in some way before you can interact.
I am happy to read the experiences of my peers in this area and accept their expriences at face value. But I am only offering my own here. I was never capable of seeing these folks until I had spent years meditating doing open eye meditations. This is my personal truth and I do not have an agenda nor do I feel I am trying to create a nesassary circumstance, nor do I feel i am trying to say I or anyone else needs to be special to see these folks.
Actually, by my stating that anyone can see them if they activate their pineal gland I am requiring less of a "special" label than yourself.
I have met two people in the course of my life who could see faerie folk and ghosts with no meditation, but they were also diagnosed with acute schizophrenia, and although I do not doubt they could see things that were actually there, I personally would not ask that my pineal gland be open before I am ready for it. These folks had extreme difficulty shutting things out and living in the day to day world.
An older secluded forest is more often where you will find faerie rings and certain Fae Beings. But Fae are everywhere . . .and certain ones can even be in your home.
As for fearing portals . . . . you enter a pineal gland activated portal every night . . . it is called dreaming ;)
A pineal gland activated portal isn't what I'm talking about. And as for the pineal gland, I thought you stated it wasn't needed.
I was talking about thin dimensions on the earth, like the bermuda triangle. This is the type of place I think most fairie circles are referring to.
Especially in stories like Rip Van Winkle.

I thought I would add a few artistic photos of fairies here. They are very lovely I use them as wallpaper.

Thank you Beren for sharing these wonderful experiences and stories.
I especially love the one about the elaborate braiding of the horses’ tail and mane. And we wonder where all the incredible Celtic knots and patterns come from . . .
Your grandparents must have been beautiful and special people to receive such a gift.
They saw elves dancing in the circle and they were struck about their beauty but were afraid and moved on ...

Thanks Blufire.
I have experienced that type of entity, and at first I was frightened, but then I felt the "other side" of that being and realized it was actually protective energy for the house I was in (in the basement), though I was curious about the source.
I didn't realize it was a being at the time; initially it felt like thought form energy, but I didn't always feel it, just some of the time, which is not typical of thought form energy.
So it makes sense that it was a kind of being.
Perhaps it was withdrawing itself at times to make me pay more attention.
In any case, I never felt frightened in that basement again, after that first time. :couch2:

I love this thread too, Dawn.
I've never been very visual, more of a feeling type.
So I don't often have visual experiences, though I would love to develop that ability (which I'm sure we all have inherently).
I live in the Ozark mountains and my favorite thing to do is go walking in the woods, and sit quietly with my back resting against my favorite tree.
When I was in my 20s, I lived in the mountains of Virginia in a sort of Zen/commune.
It was a fairly remote spot, and we had ample time to get in touch with Nature.
I felt like I came to a sort of threshold after I'd been there for a year, of being reacquainted with the natural world, which I believe indigenous people still maintain in certain parts of the world.
Unfortunately, I was not able to stay much longer after that, and had to return to city life, but it was a life-changing experience.
My hope is that returning to that connectedness will be a part of the new paradigm, as well as being able one day to visit the stars.
I think when we are using free energy technologies on our planet, we will be able to allow Nature to return to her former glory, so both the realms of the fae and the ETs will be available to us to experience and to grow with.
Meanwhile, I miss that deep connectedness to Nature even more than I look forward to connecting with ETs, but perhaps they aren't really all that different...
Thanks to everyone for their contributions to this thread!

Some interesting info -folklore about fairies
Doorways
The threshold of a house is an uncertain place, neither inside nor outside, but a boundary between the two. When a person crosses a threshold they move from one state to another and may be in danger from the spirits that dwell between, as many spirits do. In many cases, it was thought unlucky to tread on the threshold itself, and people were always careful to step over it. This is why brides, in a transitional stage of life, are carried across it. A number of fairies live beneath thresholds, including the French Follets [who are bad tempered but will act as house fairies if you win their respect] and the Russian house fairy the Dĕduška Domovoy. Because not all fairies are kind or welcome, the Irish scattered primroses on the doorsteps to keep them from crossing it, and in England thresholds were made of protective holly wood for the same reason. In parts of Britain, defensive designs called ‘step patterns’ were drawn on the doorstep in salt or chalk, or reproduced in mosaic. These took the form of knot work and ‘tangled thread’ patterns since the fairies like to follow straight paths when travelling, and get caught up in trying to follow the twisting lines.[i]
Hearth
Hearth stones were similarly decorated, since the hearth is a threshold too. There are many fairies associated with human hearths, and they often gain entrance to homes via the chimney or smoke hole. One such is the Italian house fairy the Attilio who, like his Welsh cousin the Bwciod, likes to warm himself by the fire. Both become angered if people try to keep them out by such methods as putting ash on the fire, or placing a piece of iron on the hearth. The Italian Fireplace Folletti live in the hearth and many other fairy homes lie beneath hearths, with the hearthstones are their doors. In Italy, at the Feast of the Epiphany, children hang up stockings for the fairy Befana to fill with gifts.
She was once a deity of fate. In Germany the hearth is associated with the fairy Perchta, once a goddess of the hearth fire, home and marriage.
In the past, the hearth was the central focus of the home, providing warmth and food. It was the place of the fire, which meant the difference between freezing and surviving, eating and starving. As such it was sacred and the focus of many customs. The fire had to be kept burning, as it was, or represented, the living spirit of the home, and was only put out at certain times of year, to be re-lit from a sacred flame.
Because the smoke rose to the sky, it was a message rising to the spirits or gods, while below the hearthstone lay the underworld. Therefore the hearth was also a domestic cosmic axis via which the gods or spirits could enter the home and a shaman’s spirit could travel out; this is why Father Christmas enters the house via the chimney.
Gateways
Gates on old roads and tracks are magical boundaries, and often the place where fairies are seen. In Wales it is said that a fairy sits on every stile. Cunning men often used field gateways as places to perform magical operations.
Bridges
A bridge is neither on land nor water, and therefore shares the magic of liminal places; a curse broken on a bridge will be washed away. Bridges are frequented by various types of fairies like the lovely White Ladies who ask passers by to dance with them. If the travellers are polite, the fairies will bless them. If they are rude and refuse the request, the fairies will toss them into the river to learn better manners.
On the Isle of Man is the Ballona Bridge [‘Fairy Bridge’] which no local will cross without offering his or her greetings to the little folk beneath.
In Sweden, people can visit bridges to meet with the water fairies called the Naecken to ask them to bestow the gift of music. A fiddle is hung beneath the bridge on three consecutive Thursday nights. On the last night, the seeker will find two fiddles hung there, and he must choose his own. If he does, he will become a great and famous musician, but should he choose the Naecken’s instrument, the water fairy will take his soul.
Bridges can be dangerous places since they are also the domain of trolls, who lurk beneath them, attacking animals and throwing stones at humans.
Fords
Several fairies were encountered at fords, and there were special shrines for the traveller to invoke the ford spirits to allow him or her to cross the river, or to give thanks for being allowed to cross safely.
Wells
Well represent life force and always contain a spirit. They also act as entrances to the spirit world, where people can go to speak to the gods or fairies, perform divinations, or make offerings. Many wells, when excavated, have been found to contain numerous gifts of pins, pottery, bronzes and so on.
Water fairies have healing powers, and theirhelp is still solicited in parts of Britain with offerings of coins thrown into wells. A well near Penrhos in Wales allegedly cured cancer. The sufferer would have to wash in the water, curse the disease, and drop pins into the well. Some special trees, called cloutie trees, which grow near holy wells and springs are hung with rags [clouties] to solicit blessings or healing from the spirits. As the rag disintegrates, the wish will be fulfilled. [Those people who hang up bits of plastic tape misunderstand the custom, and not only will they be disappointed in their hope, they will also anger the wildfolk by polluting the environment.]
In England, principally in Derbyshire, well dressing customs are still enacted every year, during which wells are decorated with pictures made of flowers. These were originally constructed to honour the well spirits, though the events now take place under the auspices of the local churches and the themes of the pictures are biblical ones. The wells which were once shrines of the spirits of healing waters have been re-dedicated to Christian saints with similar names like Anne [Anu], Brigit [Brighid] and Helen [Elen]. Almost every English town has a well dedicated to a female saint that would once have been sacred to a healing spirit. Fairy wells are more common in England, Ireland and Norway than elsewhere.
Water spirits are often described as beautiful women, though there are records of guardians taking the form of salmon, snakes and toads. There is an ancient healing spring at Acton Barnett, in Shropshire, England, where the guardian fairies of the well appear as frogs. The largest of the three is addressed as the Dark God.
In Scotland, the Cailleach Bheur[‘Blue Hag’]guards a well near the summit of Ben Cruachan, which is inclined to overflow. She had to put a slab over it every sunset, and take it off every sunrise to prevent this. One evening she was so tired that she fell asleep and the water flowed down the hillside, drowning many people and beasts before forming Loch Awe. In Germany, the fairy Frau Holda’s realm is reached through the bottom of a well.
