FYI:
"Are we there yet?

No, but we are getting very close.

We are now at the point, I suspect, that our colonial ancestors were in the early 1770s. They were still British subjects, but had begun to question the relationship – the supposed right of the British sovereign to rule them. Within a very short time, they would reject the relationship in toto – on principle – and would become Americans.

I believe we are in roughly the same spot as those soon-to-be-Americans of the early 1770s.

An awakening is taking place. Millions of people are wising up to the fraud that is contained in the sentence, “consent of the governed.” Are learning to reflexively cringe for their soon-to-shorn freedoms whenever a politician utters the word. Have come to understand that the sprawling beast in Washington no more represents them – let alone has the slightest interest in protecting them (let alone respecting their rights) than the ossified oligarchs of parliament represented the colonists or had any interest in protecting anything other than their power and the sacks of loot that always accompany its exercise.

We – millions of Americans – now understand the nature of the relationship: Master – and slave. That due process itself has been taken away from us. That we are now to be denied even the elemental decency of being informed of the charges against us before we are taken away into the night, to be “indefinitely detained,” on the mere say-so of men with guns and badges. That when we are “asked” to “contribute” it means guns will be shoved under our chins. That we no longer have a single right that’s not conditional at best – if not entirely defunct.

Submit. Obey.

We have become aware that almost no aspect of our lives is left unmolested. We cannot eat, work or even sleep in our own beds without government supervision – and that very soon, even our recreations and private habits will likely fall under the “commerce clause” since these may be said to affect “health care” and thus, are of “interest” to the government.

We – that is, almost half the population – also knows the futility of voting.

Tweedledee replaces Tweedledum – and the machine rolls on.

We see, in the immortal language of Thomas Jefferson, “… a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object.” One that “… evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism.” The parallels are clear – and ominous.

It begs the question: What shall we do?

Some advocate violent resistance – and that day may yet come. It is as natural – and as right – to fight back against an evil government as it is to fight back against evil individuals. But it is the response of last resort, when every other effort at a peaceful resolution has failed – and when the only alternative is abject submission and the formal acceptance of the master-slave relationship.

We are not there yet.

We may still speak, and write – and within certain bounds, are still free to act. In particular, we are free to not act.

We can decline to participate in (and thereby, help to legitimize) things we know in our hearts – and minds – to be dangerous and wrong.

We can decline to vote, if voting means voting for “the lesser of two evils.” Rather than sanction evil, we can withhold our consent and force evil to operate without it. Consider what the result would be if, next year, we are presented with the false choice of Obama or Gingrich (or Romney) and, rather than hold our noses and vote for one or the other in the desperate hope that it makes a difference, millions upon millions of us just stayed home instead. Enough of us such that the “winner” could claim no mandate – no consent of the governed. He would be forced to be what the current Dear Leader is – but openly. No more gauzy talk of “democracy.”

Just: Submit and Obey.

It could not go on for long. Open tyranny never does. But give the masses the illusion of consent; let them believe they have “democracy” – and tyranny can be open-ended. Endless.

It is within our power to end this sham. If only we will refuse to act, when acting amounts to endorsing the sham.

If Ron Paul is not on the ticket, stay home. Withhold your consent. Force the system to bare its fangs and reveal itself for what is.

And:

Decline to fly.

Or rather, decline to submit to outrageous violations of your dignity as a human being, to loathsome assaults on your rights as a human being. For the moment – perhaps a brief one – we have the opportunity to stop Gate Rape and much worse to come besides. If only a few million of us simply announced that we will not enter an airport terminal (or attend a sports event) until we can do so without being subjected to warrantless, probable cause-free searches, it is a sure bet that warrantless, probable cause-free searches would end. The TSA does not care about your rights but the airlines most emphatically care about your money. If even 20 percent of current flyers openly declared that they will not fly again until the TSA is abolished – or at least, that only individuals who have given some specific cause for suspicion be subjected to searches – then group gropes of children, women, the elderly – and most important of all, the innocent traveler – would end.

The system depends on your voluntary cooperation. Withhold it now, while you still can.

And so on.

Force authoritarian thugs to state openly what they advocate – what they are – by calling them on their euphemisms. Ask your local board of supervisors official precisely what he means when he “asks” that county residents “contribute” for the betterment of the local school system – or some such. Ask him how he feels about sending men with guns to the homes of peaceable people who might say “no, thank you” and decline to “contribute.” Make him – make them – say it:

We are going to force you to hand over money by threatening you with violence. If you resist in any way, we will do you violence.

Not “public” schools. Government schools.

Maybe opt-out of government mandates that have made new cars absurdly complicated and expensive – by buying (or keeping) an older car. And tell the automakers why you’re boycotting their current products.

If stopped at a “checkpoint” by a cop, ask him – politely – how he feels about subjecting his fellow citizens to random, probable cause-free searches.

Etc.

Let’s get it all out in the open.

Perhaps enough people will recoil from the edge of the abyss before it is too late to step back from it. Reason and appeals to the human conscience are always preferable to the alternative.

I hope there’s still time.

Hello ktlight,

This is a true and excellent article in my opinion, with the exception that he hasn't factored in human nature. It is quite easy for the masses to regain control of their rights but the masses WILL NOT take action. What is that old story about how they came after the Jews, but I was not Jewish and so I said nothing etc etc etc. I am sure you all are familiar with that story. Until it is in one's face, coming into their front door, Americans will find this all entertaining. It will not be until a swat team bashes down their front door, in the middle of the night, killing their child "accidently" that the average American or citizen of the world will speak up and ask "if PEOPLE are just going to sit by and let things like this happen?" Sadly they will continue to just watch and do nothing, because human nature wants to go along to get along by blending in as part of the flock hoping they will not be signaled out, resulting in the very treatment they are hiding from by being part of the flock. As a group, humans, in my opinion, are cowards. It is usually only the lone individual when the mantle of responsibility fully falls on their shoulders and no one elses, will a human be more likely to take right action. I am sure you all are familiar with the story of a mob of people watching another human drown. The poor drowning human with a mob of fifty people watching, took no action to help this individual in need, because they hoped someone else would take the action of saving the human and refused to take the responsibility of helping the drowning victim . Are humans bad? Humans are a lot of things: they can be bad, they can be stupid, they can be greedy, they can be cowards, they can be selfish, and occasionally they can do the right thing, but don’t bet on it. Humans appear to feel safe in groups, like chickens, so they often demonstrate group behavior; either mob mentality or they go along to get along while watching those in authority do bad things to their fellow humans who were not lucky enough to blend in with the group. And when humans agree to go along to get along, the humans seem to also agree to be blind to where they are all headed as a group. And even if they see where they are headed, they only gossip about it for entertainment, or to release of anxiety. They will seldom actually do anything to right a wrong, because like the mob watching the human drown, humans, as a group are hoping somebody else will do the "scary" work and actually stop the madness and corruption while they all keep their hands clean. Of course, this is just my opinion. And yet writers, through the centuries, wrote volumes about the madness of human nature allowing bad things to happen by doing nothing to stop it.

Over the past ten years there were so many simple actions that the average person could have taken to keep tyranny weak, but those simple actions would have caused them to rethink how they lived, and how they spend their money. And since convenience is way more importance to People than in righting a wrong or fighting tyranny in a nonviolent way, they just keep letting the TSA feel up their grandmothers, and two-year- olds. They all just keep feeding all the monsters that are about to chop off the heads of the chickens for dinner. And being in a flock won’t help your chance of survival now because they want to reduce the flock and are doing a mass butchering.

Sincerely,

Mr. Davis

It is the "flock" or "mob" mentality that has bothered me since childhood days. The fact that the person to stand-up and say something is wrong, is ALWAYS VILLIFIED by that mentality. I'm the villian by that definition and thats ok. I've always questioned authority and paid the price for my actions. And now we all have to pay the price for the flock not acting and accepting tyranny and everything that will come with it. Yes it takes all kinds of people to make the world go around. But when the tyrants make their move to finally destroy the opposition, I will be standing gun in hand with the few who stood up and said something is wrong. I do'nt think the meek will ever inherit the earth, they will be the first to be taken out ,because of their meek flock mentality. The ones willing to fight against tyranny till death will inherit the earth and eliminate tyranny. How many in the flock never learned how to hunt, or fish, how to get drinkable water, how to skin a deer or squirrel, cook with a fire, .......The problem for the tyrants to overcome never was the flock-- It's people like me that are their biggest and only real problem.

Many people will not act until a situation becomes up close and personal.

When it does, I would not want to be in their way.

@ Crested duck. A few "I's" in the flock will be culled first, but the cunning(meek) will countermand with many more when the time is right and the spirit is strong. Best to not let ego rule your premature demise. IMHO

spiritguide-I live in a very rural area. In fact it is so rural , that all new soldiers coming out of Ft Bragg are sent here to train how to survive by helicopter loads at a time. This is their last stop before live action combat situations. I've snuk up on these youngsters myself a few times while hunting over the years. The people I've alligned with plan on surviving at all and any cost required. We're in a pretty good place with as good a chance as any to survive. There are many other like-minded small groups nearbye that are'nt going to be taken without a battle. It's the city folk living on foodstamps with no skills to survive that is going to have to be dealt with mercilessly. It's the sad reality but it's true none the less, they will be heading to rural areas looking to stay alive themselves. They have nothing but heartache to bring to the party, and they are not welcome to join. Survival of the fittest is Nature's way, and if I do'nt play by Nature's rules I will perish by my own stupidity.

Some folks are waking up but most who have anything want to mingle with the powerful for immediate short term gain and an ego boost.

Recently I was eating a a modest coffee shop. The shallow couple across the way where babbling about their stock portfolio to their "friends." I just wanted to interrupt and tell them they were phoney baloney or they wouldn't be eating in this ordinary dive.

Just too many folks out there totally mind controlled into believing the system as it is. EEK.

AA have been doing that for a long time. If my color ain't good enough, my green isn't either.

Yes, boycotting the big guys works and if people behaved themselves there wouldn't be need for cops coming to your door.
I'm just saying if WE the people don't participate in their materialistic crap shoot, like the "own your own home lie" they can't make you want their stuff or buy it.
Another thing desperately needed is carpenters, wood workers, and metal smelting/melting trades in this country. If you have to pass it on to your young, do so. The less they are in our business, the better. Auto repair, plumbing, small home builders/local or next town to build or fix our roads and homes. WE can't keep letting them ream us dry and just keep acting like it's business as usual. OUR American businesses have laws and so should the global elite businesses. If they can't follow our laws for clean air, water and land decontamination after oil spills, then let them take their nasty behinds somewhere else that doesn't care about those vital life giving God's gifts.
