I've been taking cold shower for few months to adjust my body for off-grid living soon.

The steps how to take good cold shower.
Before you do it, make sure the heart beat is above average. Five or ten minutes stretching or exercise works out pretty well for me.

Assume you are in an closed bathroom.

Do it bare hand and fingers.
Get 5-10 liter water on a bowel.
Take off clothes.
Kneel down on the floor.
Start rubbing the skin from hand to lower arm, upper arm, to shoulder with water by hands.
You will see skin gets cleaned, the sensation of coldness will go away as you goes.
Chest, arm pit, belly, waist, around the rip cage.
Soak a long shower towel and rub the back.
Do hips, inner/outer thigh, sexual organ, lower leg, foot and toes.
By this time your body temperature probably slightly goes up, skin turns reddish with sweat.
Soak the shower towel and rub bar or liquid soap.
Rub body parts from fingers to toes.
Stand up and spray cold water till whole body gets clean.
Dry body with a towel.

If you want to clean hair, do it now.
Dry the hair.
Wash the face, shave.

It takes about 20 or 30 minutes.

The sensation of body remains for a good hour.

The way I tend to do it, :
Turn on shower
Take off clothes
Put toes in shower stream first
Tightly clench buttocks and go in

Works every time, but depending on mood the squeals may be louder....

I like this subject - yours isnt really a shower though is it? You use a bowl of water, rather than jets of water from a sprinker?

I've been cold showering for a while now in the weekday mornings. Heaps of benefits, including saving electricity/gas whatever

Its hard to get people to do it - here is one of my earlier efforts (http://projectavalon.net/forum4/showthread.php?4165-Cold-showers-), its nice to see the subject coming up again :)

I live with cold water out of choice in my home. No hot water on tap here!

I do enjoy a hot bath about every 7-10 days. I haven't used soap more than a handful of times in my life when I was actually really dirty with oil or some other such. My skin looks clean and fresh and is odor free. I do scrub it on bath days. I do use mild soap on my hair when I take a hot bath, otherwise I run a stream of cold water over my head each morning, and then let my naturally curly hair air-dry to set itself. Before bed I use a small cloth, and wipe private parts with cold water, to thoroughly clean.

Tonight is a special treat because I'm going to drive 10 minutes down the road to a hot springs and soak for hours. Hot water is fun, but it is not necessary for cleanliness or for the joy of having a clean body.

Someday it is my wish to have a little piece of land with a solar shower. I love the combination of a hot water and cold air shower. Exquisite.
