No sign of them trying to retrofit old houses with these meters where i live (In Australia) but all the new houses have them..

any smart meter on my house would be VERY prone to accidental damage....

it would also have a lot of trouble reporting due to all the shielding it would instantly receive.

Thankfully where I am now, as they forced us to take the smart meters here in San Bernardino County. We weren't given a choice, they just came in and changed them. The meter is way on the other side of the other house, as there are two houses on this property. So no where near this house. If, in the future I get a house with one closer, I'm building a copper/stainless steel box around it.

This is absurd! Another fine example of how peoples freedoms are being taken away right in front of them. I can't imagine the reasons behind wanting to know so much about people, and it's crazy how they can attempt to justify it!

That is downright creepy... even knowing when we're brushing our teeth or turning on light switches (ie. even knowing what room we are in).

Say no people, stick with analog!

This story just don't want to end. There is so much showing up on the net on this subject.
Do you have any stories in your area?

Couple of weeks ago they installed the meters in my area. As I don't own this property, there is absolutely nothing I could do about it. It is my understanding that there is some kind of law that obliges the meters to be installed everywhere.
People here are generally ignorant and unsuspecting.
