I can't imagine that I'm the only horse owner here on the forums. But, wanted to share this for anyone that has one or knows someone.

I've had my mare for going on six years now, and in that six years I've never had to worm her or be concerned about her getting sick, EVER. She gets a 4-Way Shot and WNV Shot every year or every other year depending on how often I remember.

Aside from that. She gets fed about a small handful or large pinch? daily Of an herb called Pau d'Arco. It's great and useful for humans too. It works as an Immune System fortifier, anti-fungal, anti-biotic, anti-viral and anti-parasitic (this is why you don't have to worm with this herb!). She's been exposed to every horse virus and cold you could imagine and never caught any of it.

It's only about $4.30 a pound where I buy it, she is about 700lbs. And I go through 4-5lbs a year for her. An average 1,000 pound horse would probably be about 5-6lbs annually.

Another added bonus, with this. If they ever get cuts, they don't get infected and they heal super fast. Also, it heals scarcoids and prevents them from coming back.

I've got a good extensive list of herbs that work for all kinds of things horse related. So I am happy to share my knowledge with anyone that ask.

For humans Pau d'Arco is being known for many many different uses, it's great for those that are constantly exposed to hospital or other environmental conditions where being constantly exposed to unhealthy people. I usually take a maintenance amount myself daily for through out the "flu" season, just to stay healthy and I never get sick. The rare times I get sick while taking this it's super mild, like runny/stuffy nose for 2-3 days and I'm over it.

Thanks for the great info Dreams. Being in the healthcare field (and currently sick :p ) I would love to get my hands on some for myself and my family. Do you purchase the same type for yourself? Do you prepare it as a tea? Oh do tell more, and thanks for sharing your knowledge !
Warmly,
Kris

Yes, actually the site I buy from they sell human grade herbs in bulk, it's www.herbnhorse.com , I highly recommend though anyone that buys from the site, it's been my experience that it's in the best interest to only order over the phone and only when talking to a live person. The bulk herbs for humans can be prepared as teas. Otherwise most vitamin and health food stores sell the Pau d'Arco in capsules. Rosemary might be best for you right now since you're already sick, it's about twice as strong as Pau d'Arco. But same effects. I order what I need from them though for my family same time I'm ordering for my Mare. They always sell super quality and are most reasonably priced on the net.

i'd taken pau d arco i think for prostate, didn'[t know about the worm thing.
i think a lot of bitter stuff is good for us, at least that's what Mom alwasy used to tell us kids. she was a health nut in the 50's before it was vogue. she said we don't eat enough bitter stuff in our diet, whatever that means. she said too much processed **** and more natural/raw/ vegetables are best for ya.

It was Pao d Arco along with Uva Ursi made as a strong tea and drunk all day for 10 days that finally cured me of a 19 year old urinary tract infection that modern medicine was stumped about. Just put a palm full of each herb in a medium sauce pan filled with water. Boil 10-20 minutes, strain and drink.

Thank you so much for a great site to get these herbs at a discount.

The lady I got my pony from had Sunny on Uva Ursi leaves, swore it was for her fly allergy but I couldn't make any sense of it. I was told they would be a life long thing for her. I just took her off them once I ran out. Put her on a combination of Chamomile along with Raspberry leaf, 1-2lbs each which lasted almost a year, and then she was over her fly allergy, completely cured.
