view this on the SECCHI-B HI-1: what looks like a large impact on the planet Venus. Just as comet Lovejoy passes nearby. The SECCHI website was "out of service" for the past several days

Hi,
Interesting the Secchi site was down at the same time. Why isnt this big news and astonomers talking about it?

Interesting
Mr. Comet Watch reported on it:

It must be all that oxygen coming off the sun

Reflection off of the inside of the camera tube as venus moves off screen. Dutch should really know better by now.
The same effect occurred and caused the same stir at least three times in the last year on different astronomical bodies.
Move along folks, nothing to see here.
Edit to add:
This happened at the end of December and was explained on NASA's website.

It seems that Dutchsinse removed the video. Maybe it was a lens flare?

Odd, the video has been removed... apparently by the user. I certainly believe the first part, not too sure about the second.

Interesting yes the video is gone?? And FYI I can not find anything that confirms NASA report on this at all...
However I did find this of interest : http://volcano.oregonstate.edu/venus
Venus has more volcanoes than any other planet in the solar system. Over 1600 major volcanoes or volcanic features are known (see map), and there are many, many more smaller volcanoes. (No one has yet counted them all, but the total number may be over 100,000 or even over 1,000,000). These volcanoes come in a variety of forms. Most are either Large Shields or Smaller Shield volcanoes, but there are also many Complex Features, several Unusual Constructs, and a few Large Flow Features. None is known to be active at present, but our data is very limited. Thus, while most of these volcanoes are probably long dead, a few may still be active.

The only thing I could find on NASA's page regarding an eruption on Venus is from 2010
Better explanation here:

This always happens as Venus moves in and out of the camera view.
