I certainly recommend it.

The premise of the book is the documentation of Carlos practicing in his energy body in order to pass through the gates of dreaming which will ultimately allow him to control his dreams. Though they are not dreams, they are a world just as real as our waking one...except it is a world conducted in the energy body instead of the physical.

The topic of inorganic beings comes up as well. The mutual exchange of energy between the organic and inorganic. Though this in and of itself puts you at the mercy of the inorganic being when it needs something from you. There are many examples within the book that show why Don Juan has always been put off by the inorganic beings. Kinda sounds like summoning "daemons" or reptillians..............
I digress.

I personally have the hardest time remembering my dreams...I used to have o.b.e's, wicked vivid and epic epiphany dreams, travels to other realities with a guide though being unable to control myself.
Needless to say my friend always gives me an elbow in the side and says, "Dude! You're missing out on like a third of your life." Though the book itself states that passing through each gate took Carlos months and months and months. Kind of uplifting....I guess I gotta stop smoking though.

Kind of a random post for which I apologize. Just wondering if anyone else has read the book or has any input on the concept of dreams, the ability to control oneself during them, and any inorganic beings one may have encountered and have established a relationship with.

P.S. It's funny because someone said to me if you can do that why would you ever want to wake up? (Like the movie Vanilla Sky) The next day I'm reading and it explains how the old school sorcerers made it a point to never really wake up in the "waking world" hahaha.
They eventually reached a point through manipulating and sustaining their perception in order to move out of the human world into a whole different form of reality in which energy is moving at a different speed than our own. This accounts for bleed through of reality, the idea of dimensional beings, so on so forth.

Oh yea, Don Juan states that the old school sorcerers were around 10,000 years ago and were at their height 3,000 years ago. Atlantis........among many other civilizations of the past.

It's been a long time since I've read Castaneda, but I love his books and read most of them, and some of them several times. In the absence of a flesh and blood teacher, those books filled in a big gap in my life at the time, and I was very grateful for them. I have gone through periods when I was doing a lot of lucid dreaming, but they come and go.

Yep I read it too. You did a nice job here of summing up some of the most interesting points in the book. :p

Dreams certainly are real when the intention is strong that they be so ;)

This link should have a free e book to download that is one of the best methods I've seen for obe:

Castaneda was way ahead of his time, a truly great teacher.

Sorry I can't seem to articulate more, must be half-asleep...

Yeah I read it and it really is a great book. I agree with TimeRazor you did a very nice job of summing up the key points. There are so many books out there about dreams this has to be in the top 3 for sure.

You cannot smoke weed, and you cannot drink alcohol, if you want the connections to the higher realms.

those things bring our vibration or frequency down and you can't 'make the connection'. All the Wicca, shamen, etc know this.

As a matter of fact, my Sister and I each practiced that at times in our lives, the art of keeping ourselves 'normalized' and capable of blending with the rest of mankind, her by drinking a bit each day and I by smoking a bit each day. Just so we could keep in contact with what people call 'normal'.

If and when we went 'clear', so to speak..we suddenly found ourselves with OBE's, premonitions, daylight visions, dream-walking, manifestation, reading minds, seeing the future...heck I can't eat a steak without feeling the horror of the death of the particular Cow in question.
