Yes it’s the dreaded Friday the 13th today! Are you superstitious?
Seriously, we shouldn’t laugh because the fear of Friday 13th is a genuine fear for some people – it’s even got a name – paraskevidekatriaphobic – I’m not even going to attempt to pronounce that but please have a go if you wish.
A lot of people are surprisingly superstitious.
Examples are: Friday 13th, walking under ladders(common sense that one..lol?), black cats, broken mirrors and solitary magpies’, and many more.
Some people are actually so terrified of Friday 13th and the fear that something awful will happen to them that they physically can’t bring themselves to leave their homes – they won’t even get out of bed - although even that could be dangerous – after all there’s always the chance of a terrifying sheet tangling incident!
The real purpose of this thread is to examine the ‘illogical fear’ that many people have of superstitions.
It has been suggested that this is a deeply ingrained subconscious fear base, which can be traced back to our forebears.
The surprising statistic is that superstition is not just associated with the ignorant and uneducated.
Many intelligent and highly educated people are superstitious.
So, are we right in mocking these people who are superstitious, or is there some basis to their fears?
Can people's illogical fears 'become a self fulfilling phrophecy'?
And,... can people's illogical fears be used against them by TPTW?!
What is Your opinion, & experience folks?

well I feel I may have just instilled the problem with my daughter......just texted her good morning and said Remember its Friday the 13th which is good luck for women! ( heard 13 is actually a lucky feminine number) anyway, maybe I just reminded her of the day and a few minutes later she texted me to say "on my way to work, just fell and ripped my pants"........so now I feel like if I hadn't mentioned it at all she would maybe not have had any negative self fulfilling thoughts about the day and that wouldn't have happened.....or perhaps I am the one with the superstitious thoughts

I always used to think that superstition, especially regarding "Friday 13th" was a load of rubbish.
Then I had a serious accident on "Friday 13th".
Now I just think it's a load of cobblers.

IMO If you identify 13 with being unlucky... it will be unlucky for you. Otherwise it's just another day. Why put energy into forming a negative outcome? Essentially that's what we would be doing.

I was born on Friday the 13th and constantly reminded of it by my family growing up. I remember even as a young boy thinking that if people decide that bad things are going to happen on Friday the 13th, then bad things will surely happen and it will be blamed on the date.
I notice that some people are more "on edge" if they are superstitious about the day. As if they are looking over their shoulder all day expecting the worst...
My oversimplified opinion: Reality is led by the mind.

Wikipedia: (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jacques_de_Molay) In a dawn raid on Friday, 13 October 1307, de Molay and sixty of his Templar brothers were arrested. Philip then had the Templars charged with heresy and many other trumped-up charges, most of which were identical to the charges which had previously been leveled by Philip's agents against Pope Boniface VIII.
Some say that Friday the thirteenth is unlucky because it stems from the Templar getting arrested by the pope and king of France on Friday 13 October 1307.

At one point 13 was considered so unlucky that buildings with more than 13 floors would skip from 12 to 14 when the floor were numbered. I guess they were trying a new math?????

In the lyrics of the great Stevie Wonder....
"oo When you believe in things that you don't understand,
Then you suffer,
Superstition ain't the way"

Actually, in the mistic world the number 13 is a very powerful sacred number, reason why the ptw started nonesense superstitions about it, so people would saty away from it.

If you hadn't lost it, you - as well as Loc3333 - would never have gotten that other job - much better for you, much more satisfying, and possibly better paid, too - that you are going to get. :-)
It's just one step in your life, Trail and Loc. And not necessarily a step for the worse.
You'll see.

fear is a H O A X !!
a phantasmagasm.
And on a clear day, maybe friday the 13th, you will decide not to facilitate it anymore.
It's a letting go, like you let a bird fly from your hand.
It does need vigilance though, bad habits die slow.
