i was indeed thinking last night about Anonymous
i know very little about them
shutting down major players @ the same time....????
all this for video piracy????!!!!
if i was the head of such an important group, torrent piracy wouldn't even be in the agenda
i assume they wouldn't even have time for inferior matter such that...
they can aim way up
anyways
just a thought
cheers

another thing
why would this servers go down by a DDoS attack!!???
this is an old one, years ago!
by now every pc should be protected by it!!!
there were service packs, special updates, specific patches, also a billion 3rd party tools and every firewall and antivirus software already patched the security holes...
i'm talking entry-level consumer standard...
FBI, DoJ and co. haven't patched their systems to the point it took Anonymous 8min to shut'em down with the old DDoS???!!!
mama mia!!!
smth very fishy

There really isnt much of a defense against distributed DoS attacks. I mean there is, sinkholing, pipe cleaning filters, and other things, but alot of those are easily circumvented by switching up the attack. There are many ways to attack, SYN & ICMP flooding, teardrop attacks, ping attacks. A good attacker will switch those up randomly, and on each revolution of the attack. Most DoS attacks are done preemptively to shut the site down as a means of softening up the infiltration of the server that soon follows., typically the bringing down of the site isnt the hard part but the following infiltrating is usually the more difficult part.
