What is up with FLU SHOTS? Whats up with hand sanitizer?

We never got flu shots when I was a Kid. We didnt have hand sanitizer. They push these things like "If youz dont geta flu shot youz are goin' ta DIE!!!"and "wash your hands alot and use sanitizer and you won't DIE!!!" LOL!!! I mean what is up with that? I have never had a flu shot in my life and I don't want one. I don't use hand sanitzer and I almost never get sick. When I do get the flu, once every 5 years, it goes away at some point and I'm good. I just don't understand I thought that getting sick was good for me. Thats what I was told as a kid that it made my immune system stronger. So, ok I get the flu but does getting the flu make it so I dont have immune system problems. I have seen stories on TV about people that suffer from all types of immune problems and they go get infected with some kinda of parasitic worm and all the problems go away. These people are raised in super sterile enviroments they use hand sanitzer all the time and they all kinds of problems. You have to use your immune system. You are made to get sick once in awhile. I was the dirtyest kid in town. Always "falling in the creek" a drainage ditch with some fish and frogs. I was filthy!!! I don't know? Do we NEED to get sick once in awhile to stay healthy in other ways?

There are zero reasons for a flu shot. Eat no junk, eat raw fatty acids, get copious amounts of sunshine, lots of clean water and you'll likely never get sick. The human immune system is remarkable. Let it do it's job and don't kill it off by destroying your intestinal bacteria. Most of our immunity is found in the gut.

My grandfather was 28, a fit and healthy blacksmith, when he died in the Spanish Flu epidemic along with millions world wide.

Like his, most of the deaths (as with the recent flu scares) were of the younger adults who had not been previously exposed to that virus, which is now thought to be a variant of the bird flu virus I think. Especially affected were the American forces, who were completely unexposed to the virus and sadly more were killed by the flu than died in that year of war injuries.

If it were possible to stop that sort of death toll then I think we should use all the ways we can muster, including hand-washing and inoculation.

But, by the way, I also believe children should be outside making mudpies and getting dirty, instead of playing on the computer in a sterile house.

inoculations here in the US though aren't designed to prevent diseases, they're meant to spread them and cause all sorts of evilness.

The hand sanitizer thing by the way, we go through gallons of this stuff at work( not the most fresh and clean people my clients, patients) and it is very quickly absorbed by the skin and i am always left with a splitting headache afterwards, this is of course much better then picking up hepatitis, herpes, hiv and other nasty germs and virusses.

The sanitizer is also very highly flammable a just a little bit burns for quite a while, i had one client set on fire this way when he got in an argument, nasty stuff, but somewhat usefull at least, ill take the free of charge headache any day over some infectious sh*t. IMO

I see it as a muscle..

Humans are balance, trinity balance, opposing forces equally acting against each other... if one force gets to weak, the other takes over (be it internal or external) and imbalance (dis-EASE) is possible....

that's my theory. I blatantly do NOT wash my hands and speak about it often... I also dodge shots via deception (egg allergy, skin issues. etc..)

It's not just the flu shot that gets me. There are so many vaccines that are recommended nowadays and it's just insane that they give them to little kids. Hep B? Chicken Pox? Hep A?

In someways it's really about the diseases that people are bringing into 1st world countries that used to be minimal because international travel wasn't "for the masses". A lot of diseases that we've eradicated are showing up in people who travel here. It's more precaution than anything. In other ways, I'm kind of glad for the sanitary wipes and gel because my kid's in preschool and last winter, it seemed like he was sick all the time.

That said, a lot of parents are just way over-protective with their kids. Some people really don't see the harm in having "anti-bacterial" dish soap/sanitizer/wipes......I know that I take a few squirts of the gel after being in an area with tons of kids around. However, I don't obsess about it w/my kid. He's going to get sick and he will be exposed to germs and that's life. I can't protect him from everything.

Thanks, conk...you've hit the nail on the head !! Years ago I tried to explain to my city manager that chlorine in our drinking water killed bacteria in the water AND, when ingested , killed the bacteria in our gut, as well...I asked that they filter it out at the delivery pipes...or cut back on the amount used...his reply was "not cost effective or feasable to filter....and referred to my concerns as a' tin foil hat' complaint.... seeing your avatar made me think of this...L O L.... take care. It's funny because in the world of aquariums it is clearly understood how important it is to build up a community of bacteria in order to maintain a healthy system within the tank. But we are encouraged in our own homes to KILL ALL GERMS in order to be healthy...then we end up with SUPER-BUGS that are extremely dangerous and need stronger and stronger toxic poisons (which end up in our systems) to kill them. Crazy.....

My understanding of the hand sanitizer wipes offered in the supermarkets now started after an outbreak of MRSA amongst the homeless in Californa a number of years ago. They were frantic to stop its spread. Homeless often use shopping baskets.... and those shopping baskets are held by everyone who comes in the store.
I use those wipes offered. community acquired MRSA is almost everywhere these days. Think of all the nose pickers who handle shopping carts. MRSA colonizes in the nose typically. Most supermarkets offer the wipes now. I recommend that you use them.

Otherwise I do not use handsanitizer within my home. I clean my food cutting surfaces with MMS2 and thats it.

Even if the theories of evil conspiracy are incorrect (I think much of it is true), they are making trillions of dollars out of scaring us into believing (and sometimes legislating) that we MUST have vaccinations - and we must have a new vaccination every year. I have been refusing vaccinations for over 30 years and I very rarely get sick.

How do we know that the Spanish flu was not man-made? It could have been the biggest scare-campaign in history, to make us buy medicines and vaccinations.

Computer keyboards have been shown to be far worse sources of dangerous microbes than toilet seats. I think kids should be encouraged to get dirty and make mud pies.

I said it once and I ll say it again. I HAVE NEVER HAD A FLU SHOT IN MY LIFE!!!!!! I was the dirtiest kid you ever met, always "falling" in the creek", and today I dont get sick anymore often than people w that get flu shots every year. I have to have a flu shot because as a child I got the flu regular and with my asthma I ended up in hospital a lot. The hand gel hurts a lot though and I get very sore burned hands from it, so I just use soap and water. I did speak to a nurse about the hand gels and she said the next generation of children are going to have a lot of allergies with it, as it is being over used. It is good hygene to wash hands after toilet, before eating and when handling pets but over washing or treating hands can be quite damaging to the skin.
