Words with a positive, uplifting vibration, please. And an explanation of what the word means to you. Love, of course, is a biggie.:p
Here's one. Miracle. For me, miracle is a special word because it evokes something out of the ordinary, out of the blue, and very, very special.

In English? Any word that starts with TH, or has TH in the middle of it.
Or at the end of it.
I just love the sound. :)
BTW, you may or may not know this, but a few years ago a British newspaper published a list of most beloved words (in English, obviously), and I believe the winner was marigold.
I like it very much myself. :)

The term "word" not as a noun but rather in its slang form. It is the terminology of "I resonate with that" or "I see a lot of truth in that statement".
So innate is resonant energy in the hip hop community that it actually birthed a new usage off the noun "word" just to acknowledge it.
The original conversational thanks button. :P

Marigold! The flowers are beautiful, too. Over here in Australia it might be more like Banksia or Orchid... Marigold certainly rolls off the tongue in a delightful way! How about rhythm, for the TH sound?;)

Oh, rhythm is nice!
(Plus it always reminds me of Gershwin, so it's doubly nice. :))
Thaw, thunder, mirth... I like them all.
But I have to tell you - and I don't think I've told this to anyone, ever - every time I see something really beautiful, includings words that I like, I feel an irresistible urge to touch them with my fingers (on the screen, in a book).
Miracle is one of those words that I touch very often. : )

Is that thaw or could it just as easily be Thor!? There is a power and a resonance in Thor that, for me, is inescapable. For a long time I've thought that if I were to have a son, I would name him Thor! Masculine, powerful....

When I was a teen, it would have been the word 'papers?', spoken as a question.
This was because the person approaching me had the 'materiel' to fill said rolling papers.

tinntinnabulation--- just for the way it sounds as you say it!
It means the sound of ringing bells- which is nice too!
And for a lovely word that is meaningful for me-' hiraeth".
It is a Welsh word (Pronounced hee-ryth) with no comparative meaning in English. it means longing for the past, homesickness perhaps, grief at the loss of a place or a past--- you see i can't describe it-- but any ex-pats among you, no matter where you are from, will know what that welsh word expresses in just one word.
It's a sad word, but sad in a sort of acknowledging way!

My, my, you're a greedy one!
You would have Thor AND thunder neck to neck? :)
Isn't that one thunder thoo much? :-)
(I would say redundant, but that's a word I do NOT like.)
Thor is a very beautiful word, of course (and a beautiful name, too, although I wonder if it wouldn't be too much thunderous pressure on a tiny tot... :-))

It really is lovely - both the word and the notion. : )
From your description I would say its German equivalent would be Sehnsucht - which, funnily enough, is my favourite German word.
And I believe the Portuguese saudade probably is very close to its meaning, although not quite the same.
(I hope someone corrects me if I am wrong.)

Chrysalis, metamorphosis. I guess I like words that act like gates, or bridges, between one reality and another. So that with one word a reality can be transcended. I remember when I first heard the word 'catalyst' in chemistry classes. The concept of two coexisting substances needing a third to cause them to interact, sometimes violently, was a minor revelation to me.

Feel. I remember a dark phase I was going through in my life, and to continue to give myself inspiration I wrote in the thin coating of dust on the back of the door the word 'Feel'. This was a reminder that no matter how dark the situation was, and how controlled I felt I was, if I kept in touch with my emotions I would get through. And I did.

Hi everyone!
Well, my favorite word is "saudade". There´s no proper translation to this word, which is Portuguese, to English.
If translated, it would be something like "I miss you", with a big tone of hope.
My second one is "esperança" (the "ç" is pronounced like "ss"), which means hope.
Cheers,
Raf.

Interesting!
I had the same reaction (referring to the "minor revelation"), now that I think of it.
And I LOVE the word chrysalis.
In fact, I also like every word that starts with CH.
Which brings me to one of my favourite English words of all time: CHRYSANTHEMUM.
Ah, it's gorgeous.... :)

'wretched' is a great word, too. It's a really expressive word.
It sounds like what it means. The hard 'R" together with the 'tch' sound really suggests someone or something lowly, being swept into the gutter, someone who's down and out...
"Lucid" is another word I like--for the same reason; it also seems to sound like what it means. 'Lucid' sounds light and fluid, like brightness and insight.
I love words that pull this off. They're so satisfying.

Already been said but.. My favorite word is "Awesome"! I am fully aware of the fact that I use this word a LOT in my day to day exchanges.
It may be cheesy slang from the 80's but it is a wonderful way to acknowledge someone or something in a positive way. As to say "I hear what you are saying and I completely agree with you"... Awesome!
Plus it invokes awe, and I find myself in awe of the people and world around me on a daily basis. :)

Serendipity, coined by the English author Horace Walpole, based on the old name for Sri Lanka, Serendip.:o And while searching for the word, I came across a serendipitous discovery! The acronym SERENDIP also stands for..wait for it... the Search for Extraterrestrial Radio Emissions From Nearby Developed Intelligent Populations! www.wikipedia.org/wiki/SERENDIP
Here's another of my words that hints at transformation and change, at least for me. Veil. There have been times in my life where I have perceived a veil between one phase of my life- one reality if you will, and another. I noticed that in the past each time my consciousness came in contact with this veil it would simply slide along it and not go through it. Yet the veil was so slight! With a thoughtful intent it was easily pierced.

I love, love luminescent myself (and most of the other words mentioned).
Illumination is also a very nice word.
Among French words, I like joyeux (more so than joyeuse) very much.
Jadis is also very attractive.
(I am noticing that, if you put them together, they can tell you quite a lot about me. :-))

I like veil myself, for its phonetic qualities (which is how I picked all of my "favourite" words).
Regarding its meaning, I have exactly the same attitude towards - or experience with - it.
Piercing it can be so easy that it is, literally, frightful. Because it shows how awe-some, in the original sense of the word, your individual creative power is.

When I read the title of this thread, I had to laugh. It reminded me of what happened years ago when my husband asked our two and a half year old granddaughter, "what is Grandma's favorite word?" And in her little girl voice she piped up, "sh!t." I was struck dumb for a moment until I realized how often I really did say that word.
Though I don't say it as often, my favorite word is synchronicity...fun to say and a delight when it happens.

Ah, mon cheri! Je t'aime, je t'aime!
Another word I learnt in a science classroom that allowed me to give a name to a future perception is.. conglomerate. For many years I was treating those around me with respect, as sovereign souls. It was only later that I realised these souls were bound together, and did not have a separate entity or understanding- that they were in fact a conglomeration that was driven by a 'higher' mind, but that they did not have cognisance of this.
