Well shoot.... we just had another one around 4:00 pm local time....

It all started with a 4.3 around Midnight Wednesday.....followed by a swarm of smaller ones (2- 3.5 mag)....followed by about 9 more smaller ones in a swarm...and now this one....5.4 mag.

All are taking place around Parma but these three bigger ones are being felt in all of the northern part of Italy.

You can read my account of the EQ around 9:05 Wednesday here:

http://projectavalon.net/forum4/showthread.php?39299-M-5.1-northern-Italy

Just now, today, I had just gotten home from school and the kitchen door started rattling.... I thought I had run into it until I looked at the pc, which was already on an EQ site...and there it was!

woo woo! I got the willies even if I didn't really feel much shaking.

Are earthquakes unusual for your area MorningSong?

Well, having Switzerland north of me, I am used to small quakes in the 3 range... have felt quite a few in the 26 years I live here.

And quakes are pretty frequent in the east of me, in the area of Brescia.

As far as i know, Parma is not particularly prone to have them... and the way all of the north is getting rattled by these is kinda weird for all us

Let's hope that's IT.
It's good to know that you are all right, as is everyone else, I hope.
(And that includes buildings, too. I wouldn't want anything bad to happen to the Parma baptistery and cathedral.
I have a thing for Antelami. :-))

Thank you for reporting your personal experience of it.

Donegal, Ireland had a 2.2 yesterday which is unusual......although they had a 1.9 about two years ago

Here is some footage from a webcam located near the epicentre (around Parma), showing the moment of the earthquake:
http://www.corriere.it/cronache/12_gennaio_27/terremoto-nord_93751bcc-48f7-11e1-b976-995c60acee8e.shtml

Apparently this event was NOT related to the earthquake on Wednesday.
There is a possibility of new (presumably also unrelated) tremors and quakes, according to the article.

I work in Zürich and felt the building shaking slightly around 4:oo pm yesterday. Quite an interesting distance.

Thanks for your post. Nothing in the news here of it being felt though.....:(
