FYI:
"The head of Italy's refiners' lobby says the European Union (EU) embargo on the Iranian oil sector will lead to a speedy closure of about 70 European refineries.

“Italy already risks the closure of five refineries and at a European level we're talking about 70 possible shutdowns,” Piero De Simone, general manager of Unione Petrolifera, told Bloomberg.

He expressed concern over the unilateral sanctions on the Islamic Republic, saying the embargo will help the Asian oil importers will thus be more powerful to undercut their European competitors.

"Asian countries not applying the embargo could buy the Iranian oil at a discount and sell cheap refined products back to us," Piero De Simone said.

The Iranians will have to unload their production somewhere and “I'm sure they'll find buyers,” he said.

In their latest meeting in Brussels on January 23, EU foreign ministers imposed new sanctions on Iran which include a ban on purchasing oil from the country, a freeze on the assets of Iran's Central Bank within the EU, and a ban on the sale of diamonds, gold and other precious metals to Iran.

The United States, Israel and some of their allies accuse Tehran of pursuing military objectives in its nuclear program and have used this pretext to impose four rounds of international embargos and a series of unilateral sanctions against the Islamic Republic.

Iran has refuted the allegations, arguing that as a signatory to the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty and a member of the International Atomic Energy Agency, Tehran has a right to use nuclear technology for peaceful use."

A little over six dollars a gallon as we dispense it here. Not wanting to be a harbinger of doom but ...its going to get much higher. More stranglehold.

Traditonally wars have generated great economies for countries , at some point the last 20 years they've dropped even that as they are able to create their own money now.

I think they are still just pushing an agenda. If they can't get a war started they will think of other means
to come with an excuse to drive up the oil prices. Italy and Greece are the most dependent on Iranian oil.

This might be enough to be the final push, wipe them of the 'European' chart while pointing their fingers
away and blame someone else.

Our cost of living is very cheap comparing it to the U.K.

We have our own oil. We get it out ourselves which is all good, but I remember that we send it to the U.S. to get refined or something like that.

It could be even cheaper but our politicians are stealing a lot of money out of those sales. But with the last two presidents which are from a different political party they have reduced our external debt by a lot ( don't know the exact number) So our economy is stable (more less)

Mexico recently bought a lot of gold with our reserves of US dollars. Which was a great move. ( so far)http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-13281716

With the global economy, if one goes down or has financial problems we all get hurt somehow.

We depend a lot on tourism, we have plenty of food which is very cheap, but our wages aren't that great comparing it to other countries.

All this saber rattling when Iran's underground nuclear manufacturing facility was already blown to shreds a week ago. And they're still crying fowl in Israel and US? Haven't they checked yet, that the facility is obliterated already?
