View Full Version : Kung Fu Killers: 10 Deadliest Weapons
The One

This documentary is counting down the top 10 deadliest Kung Fu weapons and fighting techniques.
The Kung Fu documentary shows uses of famous Chinese weapons, including rare and unconfirmed weapons like the flying guillotine.
In Chinese, Kung Fu can be used in contexts completely unrelated to martial arts, and refers colloquially to any individual accomplishment or skill cultivated through long and hard work.
The origins of Chinese martial arts can be traced over 6,000 years ago to self-defense needs, hunting activities and military training in ancient China.
Hand-to-hand combat and weapons practice were important components in the training of Chinese soldiers.

This must be one of the worst documentary about martial arts...
It does not show any of the beauty, the discipline and interesting philosophy around Kung-fu and the weapons. You feel like you're watching MMA or wresting. All show but no dept.
I'm also a great fan of martial arts, but this video is about killing, drama and spectacular imagery. I've never seen any teacher talk like this when doing training with or without weapons. Usually there is a lot of emphasis on things like harmony, balance, respect and awareness. More like master Yoda :), defeat the inner dark side and all that.
PS: I wonder if those that did the animations of killing people, ever faced the cutting edge of a sword?

Hi The One, the critique of the video was not an attack on your person, and I apologize if you saw it like that. It's simply my opinion about martial arts.

Anyway, despite not moving at a tai-chi like zen pace with candles and flutes ( ;) ) - I am really enjoying it. I watched the first segment on swords just now and it was good stuff, and they had some proper informed opinion from bona-fide experts.
Ilie - you'll probably like this more (if you have not seen it already)
