Here's my amethyst, green calcite, tourmaline with mica, and quartz

some pyrite, a moonstone, hematite, and others... thats a dime in the middle for size reference.

and this is that tourmaline with mica (close up) I just got in! It's bigger than any in all of the shops I looked around in and it was like 20 bucks! Very cool.

Im the same, I collected stones since I could walk, but only now I got really into it.
But I have a small problem : every time I buy amethyst (my birthstone) it breaks into pieces within 2-3 days. They get the same treatment as all the others, are kept with my other stones or just stay in my pocket !!
Any idea why ??
Thank you

crystals have been known to literally jump out of my hands (usually when i was thinking of moving them on) chipping themselves on the ground rendering themselves less "eye candy" it's thier way of hanging around

the physical crystaline structure provides an anchoring of the energies it makes available , i rekon when it breaks into pieces it's so the field can make those energies available over a larger physical area

cos each atom of the crystal is able to access the essence behind it , just gotta go beyond surface appearances

the information is still there intact

Thanks bluestflame that is really interesting what you said, I will meditate on that. I always thought that I destroy them –or they are taken from me by something negative. I have from 1 till 10 stones in my pocket (I know, I know) and the only one that breaks is (my sweet) amethyst. I dont buy them anymore, makes me sad to see them falling into pieces. But you gave me a lot to think about. Thank you.

Here are a few of my crystals. I have many boxes of them out in my garage from when I used to import crystals and sell wholesale at the Tucson Gem and Mineral show. These crystals in the photos are from Brazil. I also inherited my grandfather's and mother's rocks and crystals. My grandfather was a geologist/mining engineer and gold miner. I remember his last gold mine up near Yosemite Park, California which we went to many times. My mother also collected rocks and crystals.

Off topic, but since you're talking crystals maybe you'll know something:

Does anyone here know anything about "peacock gold"?

A friend told me it's a lump of gold with a variety of stones embedded in it.
He held it in his own hands, and I believe him, but he wasn't able to tell me
anything about it. Can you?

Thanks. Back to topic. (Beautiful crystals, by the way.)

Peace Love Joy & Harmony,
Genevieve

My Son and I went on the best shopping spree ever today.
After watching Adam the Crystal Grid boy from the link on another thread. He decided he wanted to get some crystals.
I do reiki but have never used crystals for healing.
We spent nearly £200 and are both looking forward to getting to know them all.
I'll try and get some photo's on soon.

Hello, I'm so pleased to have found this thread.
I've often found myself drawn to crystals and pebbles while wandering around such shops, maybe due to my tactile nature... I have bought a few over the years but would love to read up more about them. I guess I was wondering if anybody had any recommendations for good source books on this topic or sites I could explore. All help would be much appreciated :o Thank you

hi Padme!:)

this book was suggested to me by Dan33, the resident crystal expert here: The Magic of the Crystals, by Fernando Bostrom.

Thank you everyone for the wonderful pictures! Today I will be going out to, hopefully, buy my first crystal. I come from a family of miners and gemstone collectors and I am quite excited to get started on my own collection. My father named me Crystal and I think it is about time I get to know my namesake. I will try to post up a picture of anything I happen to purchase today to share with everyone. Thank you all for the beautiful visual inspiration.
Cheers

Here is a picture of the stones I was able to buy yesterday. The Chapstick is there for scale. I decided to only buy small stones because I am currently traveling South America so, I needed something that I can carry on my person. I am very excited to get to know each and every one.
