Has anyone read Greater Community Spirituality by Marshall Summers?

http://www.newmessage.org/nmfg/Greater_Community_Spirituality.html

For me, reading this book gave a profound experience of the convergence of human spirituality, ET contact and world change. As I read it I was thinking, "wow, this is the future. This is new."

Would like to hear other's thoughts on this book.

Although I have had this book in my little library for several years, I just started reading it a few days ago. I can't really discuss however, because I have not gotten too far into it. I also own the Wisdom series and have been impressed with this information for a long time. From what I have learned from these, there is nothing that makes me uncomfortable or wary. I'm very much looking forward to the two newest books.

Thanks for sharing your experience Snowbird. I've been reading these books for some time and have also been very moved.

Summers New Message website has a lot of new texts (http://newmessage.org/nmfg/Experience_the_New_Message_from_God.html) which aren't in his books and I've been reading these.

Especially important is "Entering the Greater Community" at:

I read a few of Marshall Vian Summers books about 2 years ago (Greater Community Spirituality, Wisdom from the Greater Community, Great Waves of Change, Allies Briefings I and II). I deliberately try to prevent myself from falling into and getting stuck in any one paradigm or way of thinking at this point in my development as I strive to put together the "big picture" but, I must say, they felt of very high quality to me. The books I found most profound are Wisdom from the Greater Community Vol. I and II. There is much wisdom in these books that I find very self-empowering, some of which I've been able to apply to my everyday life.

Considering the subject matter, his books have a very "down to earth" feel to me and a sobering, hard-hitting reality that I've not yet found anywhere else.

Thanks for the thread emeraldcity! Makes me want to dig back into those books now and look for the new ones coming out.

Thanks Sermac and write4change, you're getting me inspired too! There's a lot of wisdom in the New Message books that needs to be brought out about the issues facing planet Earth.

Was just reading Chapter 6 online. Profound words.

For those who haven't read the book yet, "Greater Community" = the Universe of intelligent life around us

"The Greater Community offers humanity redemption, but not in the way that you might think. It offers redemption because it poses a greater set of problems and occasions to which you must rise and to which you must now dedicate yourself. This provides escape from the terrible dilemmas and limitations that bind humanity and keep it in a desperate state of survival and self-preoccupation.

The Greater Community is your context. It represents a greater life, requiring a greater Wisdom from you and the establishment of greater relationships in your life. This is the evidence of God’s work in the world, which is largely beyond human appreciation. You have not advanced far enough to look back and see the overall impact of this. You do not see how important it is for humanity’s survival, how important it is for humanity to meet the great environmental and political challenges that it faces within its world and how important it is for humanity to meet the even greater challenges of successful engagement with races from the Greater Community. "

Now on to chapter 7.
Anyone want to join me in reading this?

"With Wisdom you will know the right thing to say to the right person in the right place at the right time. Until you are with the right person in the right place at the right time, you remain silent and observant, without condemning yourself or anyone else. Here you wait for that moment when your gift must be delivered, and you are prepared to give it in whatever form is appropriate. You may have to wait a very long time for this moment and exercise tremendous patience and forbearance. The ability to do this represents Wisdom—knowing what something is and knowing how to deal with it effectively."

In chapter 7, this leaps out at me:

Becoming wise in human affairs seems to be a formidable task in and of itself. However, becoming wise in dealing with life in the Greater Community represents a whole new threshold in learning and a greater challenge and opportunity for you.

Venturing out into new terrain requires such restraint, such clarity of vision, such alertness, such responsiveness.

He sounds pretty full of himself (just read one of his articles linked to above).
Trying to start a new religion perhaps?
Just another person who has an ego attempting to not have one, and then writing as if that is the case (but really isn't).

But I am willing to look more at his work (if someone has a different view....)

Well, Summers claims that the words we are reading are not his, but are a direct revelation sent from God, transmitted by the Angelic presence that oversees the world. I think its plausable for angels and/or God to speak in a terse, direct and uncompromising way. Nonetheless, Summers claims no authorship over the thousands of pages of his message. If these texts were written by a person, I'd agree - how can anyone claim to know all of this? But maybe it is from a higher authority, if so I don't have a problem with the directness of the words, which to some might sound like "ego."

The ideas and concepts are wonderful for expanding consciousness and our contribution to the Law of One. The material is not new to me and mostly resonates with me. I often enjoy even material I know to be false because it still stretches my brain. So I think it is good as material. But there are some red flags for me and that is from the getgo stating I am "THE Messenger" with "THE Message". This may just be his marketing folks breaking it down for us to consume. But I would find "A messenger with A message" more in line with the way I understand God to work since each of us has a spark and is a receptor of God's message. So there is a lack of humility. On the other hand, if you have an important message there is no sense vacillating back and forth. Stand and deliver. Also I am not comfortable the religious overtones when this is not a religion (that I can detect so far) but rather the presentation of a problem and an approach which involves developing the consciousness. At best he is a human filter of the message and is bound to let some of himself color the message, and it doesn't lessen the value of the message.

But, as long as the message is about empowering the individual and service to others and Law of One stuff, I am on board. Geez I go back and forth so much I wonder I can decide to get out of bed in the morning.

This book, and the other texts of the New Message from God, strike me not as material to be consumed, but as the Bible to a Christian or the Qu'ran to a Muslim. This resonates in my heart as God's word to the people of Earth at a crucial point in human history.

And to me this Revelation is more than those earlier texts, because it requires no interpretation. It is explicit and comprehensive, speaking clearly to a literate people. It is being recorded and written word for word in the time of the messenger, not mixed with legends and rumor or distorted by time and oral tradition.

Such a joy to have found the New Message from God!
