Question about making MMS with Sodium Chlorite Powder

Please, help me with calculations, it's so confusing:eek:
The following quote is from a site that explains how to make MMS with Sodium Chlorite Powder at 80% Technical Grade, AND I'm hoping someone could help with the calculations using a 90% (NaClO2=90.44) Grade Sodium Chlorite Powder (maybe a chemist or someone good with numbers).

"The 28% MMS Formula is in fact a 22.4% Sodium Chlorite Solution.
This is due to the fact that 28% of the total solution is Sodium Chlorite Powder
by weight. The original Formula was created using 80% sodium chlorite powder.
When 80% Sodium Chlorite powder is used to make the MMS, the resulting
amount of actual sodium chlorite in the solution is 22.4%. The water weight
is 72%, and the remaining 5.6% is mostly common salt, (used as a stabilizer)"

By my calculations, with 90% grade: (:confused:I'm hoping these figure are correct)
Please correct me if I'm mistaken in my calculations:doh:

great that you are able to obtain the powder-form of Sodium Chlorite. For me it would be impossible buying it without any permission for dealing with explosives. Seems to be more easy in Japan.

this has always been a bit odd to me,as most collections of chemicals in a given house, in the western world, are more than enough to qualify for this 'license' they speak of.

An example is that one can go and buy 'peroxide solution', from a pharmacy, for example...and make highly concentrated peroxide in very short order (a day or less). This is a problem, as chemists are made to remember a little line that goes 'peroxide kills chemists'. This is due to the fact that concentrating peroxide..is dangerous. It becomes explosive when nearing the 30% concentration point.

All one has to do is put their bottle of 3% antiseptic solution in the freezer, the water freezes, and then one has a concentrated solution. A few more cycles like that, and one is in the danger area.

The only thing that keeps most folks safe, is the same thing that endangers them the odd time. Which is: ---knowledge.

I tried to buy some sulfuric acid the other day to play with batteries..and I found that it was difficult to do in some places, and some other places....simply gave me some. Yet most of us have at least a few liters of sulfuric acid around, as it is in our car batteries.

Well ... gosh darn. From a couple of search engine optimization web sites, it seems to me that themmsstore.com stopped being a useful URL about Feb 2012.

I no longer have useful information, based on my own experience, on where to purchase MMS products.

FORMULA FOR CALCULATING PROPORTIONAL WEIGHT of NaClO2 is to H2O for making 28% sodium chlorite solution

If,

W = Weight of water (grams) = Volume of water (ml or milliliters or cubic centimeters)

N = Weight of Sodium Chlorite (gms or grams)

Then formula for calculating quantity of one ingredient when we know the quantity of other is,

N = ( W X 0.28 ) / 0.72

W = ( N - 0.28 N ) / 0.28

Example:
If we have 90ml of water(=90 gms) then how many grams of sodium chlorite we will need ?

N = ( 90 X 0.28) / 0.72
= 25.2 / 0.72
= 35 gm's

If we have 100gms of sodium chlorite How many grms or how many mls of water we will need ?

W = (100) - (0.28 X 100) / 0.28
= 100 - 28 / 0.28
= 72 / 0.28
= 257.14 ml's or gm's

To get Sodium chlorite in good price is to get it from chemical shops were they sell chemicals for laboratories and various small scale and large scale industry.
On this forum we encounter many chemical that are useful. We get suggestion that 'you can get this food grade chemical from this shop or this website'. These chemical are decided to be food grade from their CAS NO. wich are based on some of these -- purity{fine grade/labortry grade}, form{flakes/powder/liquid etc}, number of OH ions etc. Most of the time it is not necessary for it to be a fine grade chemical.

Therefore in chemical industry chemicals are identified by their CAS NO. and FINE GRADE/ LABORTRY GRADE. Fine grade chemicals are necessary for those reactions were impurities in chemical will not result in desired chemical reaction in laboratories or in an industry.

You can use SODIUM CHLORITE NaCIO2 80% which has Cas No : 7758-19-2 in the form of Flakes or powdered form.The other 20% is just sodium chloride.
Search 'Chemical Price List Canada filetype:pdf or filetype:xls'. Find the various packing's and prices of your chemical of different brands, and go to the chemical shop.

If in your country these shop keepers are used to ask their customers for what reasons they are going to use this chemical then make one cool sounding reason for yourself. Because if you tell them that you are going to use this for making a medicine they will not give it to you. Tell them you want to wash water tanks or you want this chemical for you kids for science experiment etc.
