View Full Version : Michelle Obama's antics...

Michelle seems to be playing to the dumbed down masses. I have to shake my head and have a momentary feeling of hopelessness. I can't believe she is on the same side as "artillary."
Am I the only one to think her antics is embarrassing?

Who is Michelle and why should I get to know her?
Any websites I can consult or videos i can watch?
Thanks =)

I added the word Obama to the thread title, for the benefit of those elsewhere on the planet, or who don't pay close attention to who lives in the White House.

Seems like a bit of a leading question, EastSun. Are you expecting others to jump in and cheer "Yeah. Me too...!" or do you haver a point to make?
If this related to your American election perhaps the topic belongs under Current Events...?

I can only assume that you are speaking about her staged competition with a late night talk show host she recently had. I dont see why you would have a problem with her trying to promote people moving more. America is fat and needs to move, she is promoting that sentiment in the most passive way possible to not offend the obese population. I think it is nice to have the closest person to the POTUS promoting physical exertion in fun ways.

What are we talking about here?
Michelle, I did not know who it was until the title was changed. Then, antics, I truly thought that it was related to some antic furniture Michelle obama had and I did not know or understood why it was somewhat shameful.
Someone is talking about a tv show.
I am all lost.
May be if the explanations were in plain English, we would understand better (no American slang for non American forum members to understand, no American culture or social event described only with one word - re: Artillary for Clinton -, with not explanation for non American forum members)
For God Sake East Sun, do you want to write only for American or for international members as well? There is other human beings on the planet aside Americans!
In fact, I am an American from the north, French Canadian in fact and I could not understand (I as well always find it difficult that the US citizen even took the continent designation as their own, not to be share with other North or South American, but this is a personal hang up or mine) .

Well, I am an "American," and I agree with you. And I am ashamed that we call ourselves Americans. I try to go out of my way to refer to my country as the United States of America, or the USA, instead of America. But these days, even the USA is going away -- now we're just the United States, as if there aren't any other countries made up of states united together. Even on those little sliders where it says what country are you from, now it just says United States. I think it should say USA. That's what we are, the United States of America, not America, not the United States.
Oh, well. One can wish.

I am a competent English speaker. I have no idea what the OP is referring to. It would seem that one might need to be a watcher of MSM to have a clue here.(Mind reading another possibility). I am delighted to be clueless.

Here's the thing about Political statements - (Also holds true for Religion, and Income - The three things my parents taught me never to discuss in mixed company) No matter what your point of view, 49 percent of the time, you're preaching to the choir, and 49 percent of the time, you're Pi**ing someone off. Bad numbers, Man. Just ask Susan Koman, or any other organization that relies on social gratuities to make a buck. Why disqualify half of your audience to make your opinion known? Baffling, Baffling, to say the least.

My post has nothing whatsoever to do with the political elections. I'd like to see where there could be any significant connection.
I admit I was thinking of the people of the USA and anyone who keeps abreast of what's happening here. Some things are not relevant to the entire globe.
I was not born in the USA but am as patriotic as the any citizen here. I say this because I don't hesitate to speak our about anything even if it may be 'politically incorrect.'
I think that political correctness is, while having some merit, taken way too far and can be seen as a form of control.
To me using 'artillery' for Hillary is humorous and even obvious to most.
A lot of nonsense is used to occupy our minds while laws are pushed into effect while we are not watching. We would benefit to be aware of the things we take as normal being used against us.
It might be better if Michelle was to expose the FDA for allowing big corporations to crank out foods that are actually causing obesity. Or at least speak out about it. That would help a lot more than a comedy routine. IMO.

There are varied reasons for people being fat and not all of it can be attributed to being lazy or inactive. Could it be the hormones in meat that's transferring to those eating it? Could it be the side effects of the meds they're on? Could it also be in the water and air? Generalizing and assuming fat people aren't active is just not right....There are many liesand misinformation coming from the WH alone. So, excuse some of us for not being happy about Michelle's "concerns".
It seems like there are too many of the wrong people close to the POTUS....

See, I didn't criticize, I was asking for a reference to understand what you are talking about.
Honestly, I still don't know what your thread is talking about.
If you wanna have a nice discussion and you wanna have your thread build up pages.... maybe more information would be needed for the people to be part of the discussion.
A video, an article, or simply more body to your opening/following posts would be very helpful.
It's not like we didn't ask for more info, so don't be so hard on the PA community please.

I think you must be quite biased. Who said all people who are overweight are overweight because they do not exercise enough? I don't think anybody did.
There is a very real concern, which has been voiced by medical professionals of the mainstream and of the alternative side, for decades, literally, about how much less people are moving in their everyday lives, beginning with childhood. When I was little, we went outside to play every day that the weather allowed. And we ran around, climbed trees, rode our bicycles -- basically, we engaged in physical activity of that sort for a few hours every day that the weather allowed.
Kids don't do that anymore. It's been a very long time since they were free to go outside to play after school -- since so many moms went to work themselves. And then with the advent of videos, more movement gone. Then video games....
So if you find fault with a first lady trying to encourage people to move around more, then I think the problem must be in your eye. There's a quote in the Bible, but I can't remember it. I don't mean to insult you personally, but please, use your God-given mind and think. When you blindly lash out at someone because of who is in the White House, you tell us a lot about yourself, and as someone else on this thread has pointed out, when you bring up politics in mixed company -- which this forum is (mixed company, I mean) -- you are going to turn off probably close to half of them.
But, please, if you feel the need, go ahead. Just recognize what you are doing, and what you are displaying about yourself.

No, Kerrigan I was not referring to you. As I said, I was thinking of the American audience. I had no idea there would be so much confusion.
DeBron added to my first post with, 'her staged competition' which was shown on tv and internet.
and Paul put in , Hillary Clinton to explain who I was referring to. Thanks to them.
If we discuss something that happens here in the USA it will be understood here and not is a lot of places the same as if someone mentioned something that happened in Italy or Germany we might not know anything about it. But, you are right about my not explaining it thoroughly. I didn't think it would matter to anyone outside the USA.
Sorry if you were annoyed in any way.
P. S. Even some of those who know what it was about will criticize. That's how these forums are.
I don't mind criticisms if the person is willing to discuss the topic.

Not talking about income is both polite and a way to keep the playing field level and treat each other as equals. Financial anonymity facilitates that.
Politics and religion are both subjects that cannot be discussed or reasonably debated. The reason for this is because these two subjects are emotionally based psychological structures. What ever crumbs of logic can be found for discussion in these topics is just useless verbiage because emotions and logic have no common ground. Emotions are feelings, not thoughts, and have no objective relevance beyond their recognition. This is why these topics can get so heated. Both politics and religion are designed, from the ground up, to appeal to our emotional natures. When we own a political or religious 'view' it is a part of us and not some cool intellectual idea for discussion.
Your parents were/are wise and are typical of the 'old school' where civility mattered and the obscenity of cheap reality shows would be seen for the utter garbage they are. We live in very indecent times into which we have been purposely led. Shame on us for not noticing, until now.

Actually, East Sun, you did not refer to 'artillery" you originally referred to "artillary". As my Spellcheck knows, there is no such word as "artillary". - I am still in the dark about your motivation here. Inventing a word and posting it on an international forum seems unusual at the least. It just makes no sense.
I'll repeat my original comment--- Why artillery? ---spelled as you now choose to-- It still is not apt or witty. In what way does "artillery" resemble or satirise Hillary Clinton, except for an ephemeral, inconsequential partial resemblance to the spelling of her first name.

So far as I can tell ... your opening post did not discuss much of anything that I could identify, and was understood nowhere :).
I added "Obama" to the thread title only after someone else guessed you might be referring to Michelle Obama. I had not figured that out myself.
I guessed "artillary" was "Hillary" because in a past portion of my life, as a right wing critic of Bill and Hillary Clinton, rhyming variants on Hillary's name were a familiar and enjoyed sport, and this (rather literally) resonated with that.
Please re-read your opening post ... and note how non-specific it is.
Good threads usually (unless your name is Pie'n'eal - hi Pie :)) start with clear and coherent opening posts.

I misspelled the word but it happens to be ok imo because Hillary is spelled with an 'a' and if you are following Hillary's activities around the world you may see what her name has to do with artillery, indirectly of course. I did make up the word but now know that it had been used before.

Hi East Sun. I didn't follow up on my remarks, because, I basically moved on. When someone campares our Past First Lady Hillary Clinton, and our Current First Lady Michelle Obama, and Artillery, for me at least, it is Passive/Agressive for Democrats, and War mongering. I, like others here, may have misunderstood your initial motive, and if so I apologize profusely.
But history and many people here or in any public place or forum, disagrees with your sentiment. And, as Modwiz, so elequently described, this particular topic is just that - Sentiments. It's like Abortion... some are for, some are against, and if one were to start a thread deriding a Womans Choice, at least 49 percent will react angrily. (In a dimished view, it's the same reason I dislike bumper stickers)
As for the historical account... Yes, Hillary Clinton is the Secretary of State, so she has a big say whether we bomb other nations. I can't imagine the daily pressure she must feel, holding that kind of power, but I do know that her husband was in office for 8 years, and never started a war! (hopefully, she learned a thing or two) Yes, Pres. Clinton dropped a few in Sarejevo/Bosnia... but only after about a million people were slaughtered. I believe, and hopefully my sentiments don't deceive me, that Hillary was put into this position because of her husbands distinction for dealing with global unrest diplomatically, rather than the alternative. But again, 49 percent of the US would disagree with my Sentiments. Too often "We Americans" tend to criticize our leaders before they do anything wrong. Now, if Obama starts dropping bunker busters anywhere other than a testing ground, I could just as easily change my sentiments.
Thanks for the exchange..

As her posts had to be guessed on even by Americans, and that her excuses is that she/he is surprised they did not understand, because in other forums they do (which I doubt) and not that she did not write properly enough to be understood,
As it is now clear to me it is about opinions on local politics and politicians, not on information

My post was not political. I'm a pacifist as much as I can be and no longer vote. If you are familiar with David Icke's forum which I mostly agree with then you would know where I'm coming from. If not, if you want I can explain further.
I already explained about deviations that occupy the minds of the majority of Americans while hell is happening and not even seen in the MSM.
All this makes me feel like PA may have changed somewhat.

To clarify :
On going over my OP to see what could be 'political' in it I did find this.
Mentioning Hillary as artillery did make a statement about the role of the US in foreign policies.
And because I mentioned the first Lady it was seen as political. Saying her 'antics' was just a part of a deviation to distract people away from what's really happening could be seen as political.
It was not political as in steering anyone to or against any political party as they are all the same to me.
The world and domestic scenes, as I see them, are much more serious and do of course include politics of a different kind as members on this forum know or could benefit from.
I really appreciate this forum and the informed people on here from all around the world.
