G'day All,

Here is an excellent example of how people with lots of imagination and a bit of ingenuity can create a low-cost environmentally friendly dwelling:
http://thatroundhouse.info/

Built from mostly local resources and using volunteer labour they really have created a beautiful and functional home for themselves.

There is a pictorial section on building strawbale roundhouses for between £80 and £700.

I own the book by Tony Wrench, 'Building a Low Impact Roundhouse (http://www.green-shopping.co.uk/bldg-low-impact-roundhouse.html)', detailing the design and construction techniques used (which are simple and easy to understand). The only problem someone with limited building experience may have is during the construction phase if they don't plan and experiment with a smaller project or two first.
Truly a simple alternative to modern lifestyles and building techniques.
