Disney sci-fi fantasy based on the novel by Edgar Rice Burroughs, in which Civil War vet John Carter (Taylor Kitsch, X-Men Origins: Wolverine) is transplanted to Mars, whose main inhabitants are 12-foot tall green barbarians.
Formerly an Earthlike world, Mars became less hospitable to life: the oceans evaporated, the atmosphere thinned and the planet devolved into barbarism with the inhabitants hardened and warlike, fighting one another to survive. Finding himself a prisoner of these native creatures, Carter escapes, only to encounter Dejah Thoris, Princess of Helium (Lynn Collins, The Number 23), who is in desperate need of a savior.
