Hi guys and gals,
I´ve notice that many of you are concerned about browsing the web with a bit more privacy. I´ve decided to make this thread, so all of us can give some tips about this subject.
Here´s what I do in Firefox. I´m not using Chrome anymore, because I´m avoiding directly using Google products.
Download and install the following plugins/extensions:
AdBlock Plus.
"Annoyed by adverts? Troubled by tracking? Bothered by banners? Install Adblock Plus now to regain control of the internet and change the way that you view the web."
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/adblock-plus/
NoScript.
"The best security you can get in a web browser!
Allow active content to run only from sites you trust, and protect yourself against XSS and Clickjacking attacks."
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/noscript/
Do Not Track Plus.
"Stops secret tracking of your web browsing."
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/donottrackplus/
Well, these are some good Firefox plugins that will help to have a safer and cleaner browsing experience.
Also, new Google privacy police is no good at all, so I advice to use alternative search websites, which (supposedly) will allow you have more privacy while searching:
http://duckduckgo.com/
https://ixquick.com/
If you´re really paranoid about privacy, there are good proxy websites, like proxite.me (http://proxite.me/):
"Browsing through us both keeps you anonymous from the sites you visit and allows you to bypass any network restrictions from your government, workplace or college."
Well, that´s all for now. Please, let me know if you also have some tips as well.
Cheers,
Raf.
