Dear WF, thanks for sharing those soul-stirring images. As I watched, I felt a flood of mixed emotions. Tears of sadness and disgust at the way governments and businesses all around the world have failed miserably. Tears of joy knowing that when good-hearted people take matters into their own hands, humanity can overcome the greatest evils and injustices.

Sometimes the size of this problem seems too overwhelming for most of us to cope with and as a very ordinary person, I struggle to find a way to help fix it in any way, but I can try to make a difference in my own neighbourhood, helping when needed. It is important to remember we can all show kindness, and most days an opportunity to help someone happens if we look for it. We can also help by supporting those people who are able to access the ones who need help at home and overseas. We also should exercise any opportunity which comes our way to change the larger scene for the better, and we can do this by supporting good ideas and selecting our leaders very carefully. We all know that there is disappointment in the way we treat each other on every level, and resolving to live our own lives treating others as we would like them to treat us can help in some small way I think. It is hard to do, and it's easy to be discouraged by the daily news but we must keep trying I think.

Although this saying is now a cliche I like the sentiment in-- "From little things big things grow". Every good idea and every solution has to start somewhere.
