Stellarium is a free open source planetarium for your computer. It shows a realistic sky in 3D, just like what you see with the naked eye, binoculars or a telescope.
It is being used in planetarium projectors. Just set your coordinates and go.

Thanks Robert, I never developed skills in this area but am keenly tuned to 3d CAD interface standards. (Which unfortunately varies a lot between brands).... Do you know of any generalized translations of Stellarium-terms into CAD-terms?

With out acting too needy, i would like to learn whether this software will ...
1] navigate with familiar 3d cursor or scroll movements
2] copy-paste coordinates easily.... aren't there too many variations of syntax for uncommitted, beginner, easy-copy-paste?
3] zoom in and out, like 3d CAD (with easy switching of perspective-projection view angles).

(I hate to add that i have wasted too much time trying to learn various software conventions, which are too un-intuitive or need constant fiddling... Just another human here ;-)

Thank you Robert.

This is a very easy to use and realistic program!
Maybe one day we will have a clear sky out here
in the Netherlands and I am able to see the real
stars
