The Telegraph-

Up to 6,000 British tanks and other military vehicles could be moved to Germany because of a lack of space to store them in the UK.

For the first time since the Second World War, the Ministry of Defence is considering sending a vast fleet of fighting machines towards the Rhine.

However, rather than a strategic manoeuvre, the move has been prompted by budget cuts, which have led to plans to sell off the MoD’s complex at Ashchurch, Gloucs, where the vehicles are stored and maintained.

Faced with the headache of where to put the stock of battle-ready tanks and vehicles, the MoD believes one option could be Mönchengladbach in western Germany. link (http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/defence/9088261/MoD-considers-moving-6000-tanks-and-military-vehicles-to-Germany.html)

That's a great thing for the UK to do! I hope Germany hides them all!

I guess the Germans will ask rent for storing it there + costs of sending personnel to a more remote area ... yeah, makes perfect sense

Wait for the "invasion of Europe in progress" channeling.

Lets make a poll about who will bring it up first, winner gets a happy tank;)

OMG! This has to be one of the most false reasons to send military hardware to another country I've ever heard. It's like saying, we're not preparing to invade Iran, it's just storage of our equipment near the border! This is really terrible - there's so much room in Britain - so many abandoned military bases, carparks, etc.

Its not as daft as it sounds as the Ist British Armoured Division has been based in former west Germany since 1945 and are
due to be closed down and retuned....Although if they are running down their presence the cost of transfering them temporily
does not make sence if they have to start bringing them back again!! Unless they are preparing for something ??
