First, let me start off by saying, if this is the wrong forum area, mods feel free to move as you wish.
Second, I'm bored at work, so bear with me.
I just saw an article on CNN where a scientist at JPL feels he was wrongly terminated due to his views/beliefs in Intelligent Design.
I do not believe Intelligent Design is a religious belief. It's not Creationism. There's a big difference. Evolution and Intelligent Design can co-exist in my opinion. Yes, evolution can answer a lot of question about the progression of a species time over time. Evolution can account for mutation and species differentiation.
But, when you go ALL the way back to the beginning, in that supposed primordial soup, the chances of certain molecules coming together to create the spark of life is an almost impossibility. DNA is the driving factor on creating cells and assigning them functions. The DNA is filled with strands that contain all the information needed to make that happen. So, the big question that Evolution does not have an answer for?
Who put the information in the DNA? How did it get there?

Disclaimer: I believe in Intelligent Design.
"Evolution" is a poor term for what mainstream science believes (some call it a fact). Ford Mustangs have evolved over time, but it is obviously not the same thing.
"Survival of the fittest" IMO is simply common sense, not even worth discussing.
The interesting question, in my mind, is what caused new species to appear?
The more I understand about human biology (in particular), the more intelligence I see in it's design. I can't fathom random occurrences resulting in anything so complicated. Is there any evidence to support the assertion that random changes can create new functionality in an offspring? I am not aware of any.
Perhaps a proponent of "Evolution" can explain something to me -- when discussing the appearance of new species, didn't there need to be a single individual who was the first instance of that species? And if so, didn't that individual necessarily have parents of a different species? If so, how is that possible?

Intelligent Design is the cause, evolution is the effect.
Not that hard really, I don't know why people still argue about this. :)

I agree and it's that easy. There has to be an architect that drew up the plan. Who or what that is is the mystery.

Somehow I fail to see why evolution (however defined) couldn't be part of the Intelligent Design / Creation. Even from a purely mechanistic angle it seems much more intelligent to create autonomous control mechanisms such as Evolution, as the alternative would be that the Creator would have to constantly control every single aspect of everything. Imagine what a monumental task it would be for you to have to consciously control every function of your body - not just the movements and thoughts, but also the growth, repair mechanisms etc. Now imagine that on a Multiverse scale ... Therefore there is no contradiction between Creation and Evolution in my belief system. But that's only what I believe. Makes sense to anyone else? (^__^ )

I'm not entirely sure where this fits in the scheme of Intelligent Design 'vs' Evolution, etc. But, it is my opinion and that of most (as based on my research thus far) who have regular on going contact with ET/ED's that terrans are a Genetically Engineered Race, and the Earth was Terra-Formed and quite probably engineered in it's self. Otherwise, how could it be explained that pretty much everything shows up already fully formed? And, there is NO way, a single cell could turn into US, a single cell does not know how to divide and become a lung cell, and a brain cell, and a heart cell, etc. The complexity of DNA/Genetics proves we were/are a Genetically Engineered Race. We contain between 22-24 different ET/ED Races DNA and their Genetic Memories.
