Thanks for posting the above...reflections...I first read about this story here: http://www.vanityfair.com/politics/features/2006/01/hitchens200601 in 2006. I thought it was shocking and sad. Then came the Blood Diamonds story - and eventually the movie --more abducted and enslaved children and adults, to get diamonds for gun money. And realized how violently controlled the corruption still is, in Africa.

Then came the reports about how the Congolese children are abducted to work down the tantalum mines so we can have cell phones and video games. And many are captured in Uganda and brought across the border. I guess joining an army (anyone's) would be a preferable fate.

I don't think I've seen a situation like this go SPLAT so fast. Video - blow back - film maker arrested for weird stuff. And what will happen to him? What's next?
