Well now, that's a rather unusual location for an earthquake.

Hi,

Is there a MOD base or other nearby?

I think the Pine Gap facility is not far from there.
Pine Gap is a jointly-run US/AUS military base/R&D facility.
Supposedly, it's one of the most high-tech, and secretive bases on the planet.
What made you curious?
Do you think there might be some kind of connection?

Its impossible for us to have a "real" earthquake there. Australia itself sits in the very middle of a HUGE techtonic plate. No fault lines whatsoever run on land.

Therefore, i wonder what they were testing?

As I understand it, there are some minor fault lines around our coastline.
But, definitely nothing around the central region of Oz where this EQ originated.
It's quite odd, really.

Hi,

I agree with TigaHawk. Australia is on a solid ground & is said to be one of th safe zones. Any seismic activity in or around Australia I would be inclined to cast my gaze towards the MOD. But saying that, that could also be a diversion to get folk to focus in the wrong direction?

Correct me if I'm wrong but there are major 'Fault Lines' running through the Flinders Ranges and even some of the Easten Suburbs in the CBD i.e. Beaumont, land shifts in and around the Eastwood area...

If Edgar Cayce's Prediction ever comes true, South Australia is the most vulnerable State in the entire Country...:yes4:

Here in Perth we have had some quite major shakes, the Meckering Earthquake of 1966, a tremor from the
Cadoux faultline not to mention the entire Darling Escarpment which is the coastal plain that sank into the sea
i am thinking this could sink a little further and there goes Perth...!
