Hey guys,

Check this out:

"When Richard Lee Norris opened his eyes after a marathon 36-hour surgery to give him a new face, he immediately wanted a mirror.

A natural reaction for a man who had been practically living as a recluse since a 1997 gun accident took off his nose, chin, lips and teeth, said doctors from the University of Maryland who had just performed the world's most extensive face transplant on the 37-year-old from Hillsville, Va."

Mainstream medicine certainly has its uses. If it were nothing but anti-life rubbish, it could never float; it needs a good raft of workable stuff to sugar the pill for the poison. But this is clearly some of that good stuff. I'm glad for the guy. That's what people get into medicine for :-)

So happy for the guy, tears almost come when I think about how his life must have been, so brave.

Pretty amazing, I bet after some more follow up touch ups it will look quite good, the nose mouth and chin is fairly amazing how symmetrical and normal looks.

so sad that this was posted today on Yahoo and right above it the news that a 33 year old Pakistani woman who was burned with acid on her face and body by her ex husband 13 years ago had commit suicide.......it is truly amazing what they have done for this young man

This is astounding surgical success. I am genuinely happy for this recipient. I also have to ask the really tough question....whose face is that? The entire face was transplanted at once. The face once belonged to someone's son or husband. We might also want to keep this recipient in our thoughts for healing so that his body accepts the transplant more easily. This is amazing.

My thoughts exactly snowbird - this is clearly a genuine transplant, not a mere reconstruction.

Amazing though, this is the type of thing technology should be used for

They have clearly and vastly improved the technique! He looks almost normal and such a short time after surgery. Impressive.
