Prime Minister Julia Gillard vows to reach out to Queensland voters after Labor's loss in election

JULIA Gillard has vowed to reach out to Queensland voters and has offered an olive branch to new Queensland Premier Campbell Newman as she sets about trying to boost Labor's tarnished brand in the state.
The PM will fly into a political storm in Brisbane today when she meets Mr Newman for the first time since his thumping election win and after he blamed her carbon tax for another steep rise in electricity prices next year.
Ms Gillard said she wanted the impact of the carbon tax itemised on power bills as part of a campaign of "truth telling" to head off attacks from Mr Newman that her policies are driving up the cost of living.
But she also reached out to the new Premier, declaring the leaders shared several areas of common interest in skills and education and could strike a deal at the COAG meeting in just under two weeks.

Julia - The lies are the problem. Your lies and Anna's lies. When the ALP get dumped at the next election and the carbon tax gets wound back YOU will have wasted BILLIONS of dollars on a policy / tax that you had NO MANDATE for. How many hospital beds, increase in pensions will you have wasted. It will be the most obscene waste of money by any public figure ever. Let the people decide now before further money is wasted. Like in Qld, voters will NOT vote for liars - regardless of any policy. Interity is more important and this is what has been lacking in the ALP at state and federal levels. Do the right thing please and take the Carbon Tax to the electorate or LABOR will be anililated. (PS - I voted for Labor at the last federal election)

Labor will not invest in infrastructure in my town, in fact, despite the city doubling twice in 15 years, infrastructure is cut, every year. The towns largest employer is being badly hit, by the Carbon tax and by the Mining tax. It is looking at thousands of workers being laid off. It has done so in the UK for the same tax reasons. Labor got 10% of the vote in this blue collar heavy industry electorate in Queensland. There is a reason for that, the Party elite in Canberra and Brisbane appear to hate us. Ms Gillard, in my opinion, you are TOTALLY out of touch with your electorate.

Call me "Mr Cynical" if you like, but an extended hand of friendship from Julia Gillard only makes me look even more carefully in order to find out where the other hand holding the knife is being hidden.
