To many catholics this is an important day in their religous calender. As a child this is the one day that filled me with fear and dread. For we had to go to church to do the stations of the cross, the church always seemed cold and dark.If we didn't attend we would be punished in school after the easter break. We had a teacher who would get other kids to grass pupils who hadn't been to mass on sunday. He would quiz us to what colour the vestments were that the priest was wearing.I brought my children up without the fear and to choose for themselves.

The sequence of Holy week events are to be understood wholy for the spiritual journey. Fear is not a part of this journey as much as the understanding of the path. There is nothing to fear in that He so loved, that he gave his life for us. Celebrate the teachings of Spiritual existense for the graces imparted upon oneself and give light not fear. Easter brings forth a new beginning, rejoice!
Peace be with you!

Easter comes from Ishtar:

She knows where she is talking about :). The real meaning of Easter is a little
bit different than our Nazi Pope is telling us, but if you know, it has no power
on us anymore.
For me Easter is a new beginning too. A New Earth, whatever games 'they' play,
I play my own.
It's time to break the shell:

At the church I play for during the service today they will one by one put a nail in a big wooden cross. Here is their explanation:
Silently, worshippers are invited to come up the aisle and hammer a nail into the wooden cross, symbolically re-enacting what really happened when Christ was nailed to the tree by our representatives. We pray that it will be more than a symbolic act for each of us but that in fact we will take up the cross of Christ and stand with him against the principalities and powers of this world, that are still determined to crucify all love and goodness! As we leave the cross, remember that our God is infinitely more willing to forgive our sins than we are to confess them. Thanks be to God! (Return to your seats by the side aisles.)
I do not criticize them for what they do. What I have learned over these past 10 years playing at different christian places of worship is that everyone shows their love for their creator differently. Mostly it is by tradition, but their reasons are always personal.
For a long time I felt I needed to shun and dismiss christianity because of all the lies that I perceive are intrinsic with it. However, all I have to do is look at my grandmother, who believes wholeheartedly in Jesus, and I know that nothing man touches can be bad because all things that exist can be great, no matter how sullied they can become.
Good as we call it, is in all things, as well as Bad. Have a great day. ;)
