What's happenning on the moon?

A couple of days ago, I was visiting a close friend, and he told me that his wife (who works in child care) has been telling him about some strange conversations going on between the 3 and 4 year old children in her class.

The conversation goes something like this:

Child 1: "My Dad is buying real estate on the moon"

Child 2: "Yeah, there's lots of tradies already up there working on it"

Child 3: "They better watch out for the shadow, it always gets people"

Child 4: "Yeah, there's ghosts on the dark side of the moon.."

When I heard this, I was amazed. We have a 3 year old and she says some funny things, but this is a pretty bizarre conversational topic for that age group.

Then I recalled another friend had told me a few years ago, that there was a warning message on NASA's site in relation to a meteor shower or dust particles in space..

He said that he was reading down through the list of possible things that it might affect, such as radio communications etc, and near the bottom of the list, it mentioned "people working on the moon".

That's an amazing conversation for children. What does "tradies" means?

Tradies, in Aussie parlance means tradesmen.. electricians, plumbers, carpenters and the like.

Wow! I donīt know what part of Australia you are living Straker, but I am intrigued as to who the parents are of these children. You are right to be alert. This coming from the mouths of pre-schoolers? Sounds like a done deal.

Thanks for sharing.

How do you know it isn't just a conversation (or an extension of their parents conversations) about one of the current movies?

Iron Sky?

Mmmm... yes, but maybe it shows that the concept of 'working' in space is becoming part of the zeitgeist. It also suggests the softening up of the population to accept an alien presence, which so many on this site believe is happening.

Hi, we're in Adelaide, South Australia...the Festival State, oops, no wait...Halliburton, Raytheon and others have moved on in, so now they're calling it the Defence State...yikes!

Yes, I had considered that these were possibly discussions stemming from movies, but having two kids myself, there's also the likelyhood that these are conversations based upon what the parents are talking about.

But tradesmen on the moon working..that one was a bit odd, kids don't say tradies, so that must be something they have overheard.
