Hi everyone,

I wanted to share with you a look at a new digital mural I recently completed for a Cafe here in Adelaide.

The owner specifically asked me to incorporate as much conspiracy theory and hidden symbolism as possible, while still keeping with the theme and name of the restaurant (Caesars).

Therefore I did a panorama of the inside of the Colosseum of Rome, and incorporated everything from Area S4 (in roman numerals) with a grey Alien to Rockefeller and the Illuminati, plus a lot of famous people in the audience. The mural is 12 metres long X 1.7m tall.

Apparently it's become the talking point of the town..

Hope you like it.

Hahaha! Very nice mate! Well done!

This is a very laborious job! Did you use Poser for the characters and Maya for rigging them? Are you into the gaming industry as well?

I ask this because the scenario texturing is very well done and the modeling looks very economic, in terms of polygon numbers.

Cheers,

Raf.

The basic Colosseum structure (all in grey) was done in Bryce 6, and then textured in 2D using Photoshop, no other 3D programs were used at all.

210 hours work all up.

I made all the costumes myself and photographed friends and cafe staff in hundreds of different poses against bluescreen outside, then added all the celebrity heads from high res photos of people in the same position.

I almost forget the rogues gallery, which is hidden away in the background...

Wow, i thought i lived in somewhat of an avant-garde region, mid coast Maine.... Naw, not really, clienteles are so reserved here, pretending to help the environment, while ignoring everything wrong. Spending profits and not questioning karma or consequence. I'd love to become surprised and see a cafe entrepreneur go bold and do something locally, by your inspiration. Straker, please post pics of the actual place in use, after installations. Banner printing is so cool. I hope you are starting a cafe evolution!

Any time an "Avalonian" shows up like this in the real world, reminds me that I'm glad to be here!

:whoo:

*** Edit:

I certainly meant this as a big compliment to that amazing mural!!!

Great pics Straker, but i meant with a more human-filled atmosphere. People conversing or better with heads back, coffee mugs lifted amused, etc...

We need to inspire more entrepreneurs! Money talks.

Great Job Straker

Funnily enough I am embarking on making a model of the coliseum with my son for a school project

I've done some murals the conventional way and have thought about sometimes doing it digitally.
What did you print the mural on to?

Hi Straker

Here's a great historical account from Cidersomerset's thread: http://projectavalon.net/forum4/showthread.php?44923-Venetian-Black-Nobility-Roots-of-Today--s-Ruling-Oligarchy......Dr.John-Coleman...&p=484829&viewfull=1#post484829

This might be inspiration for your next work of genius!

Also, what would really be cool on your next project (unless you have done it for this one) is to take pics of each step of your creation. Then I could create a video of the process for you (gratis of course). I just love to see things created.

Hi there,

What did you print the mural on to?

The mural was printed digitally onto strips approx 1200 wide, which were then hung like wallpaper by the company that printed them.

Hi Alie, thanks for the link, and yes, I do have some progress shots of the artwork in layers in photoshop, so that's a good idea. The mural was hung in a morning and I didn't see it go up, so missed out on that part. I always used to take photos along the way when I was working on projects as one day I was hoping to produce a book for my children, and of course everyone else to learn how it's all done. I've produced on behind the scenes book on a feature film, which you can see here:
