Just came across this at a most synchronistic time in my own journey.
I just felt inspired to share this.

Thanks bodhii71. This is what i've been trying to express in short sentances on the forum and it synchronistically coincides with a time when i'm confronted by my shadow once again through my Lymedisease.

A lot of gold and jewleries are stucked under the dragon in the cave. LOL
There is a time in human life to stop collecting glittering bebbles outside,
step into the cave and look under the belly of the dragon. LOL
All is well

Doesn't it go without saying that if we have a higher self that we have a lesser one, too?

Is a lower vibration any less than a higher vibration?
Until you make the unconscious conscious,
It will direct your life and you will call it fate.
~Carl Jung
It may be obvious we have shadow as well as light
But we too often suppress ,project it outside ourselves, or ignore it completely.
Isn't this a BIG part of being a light worker, or working towards ascension?

Yes, lower is less than higher. Relatively speaking.
I am my own shadow self.

of course there is nothing higher or lower. LOL But too many
try to fool oneselves into believing that the animal ie the body
is inferior and something to avoid. But try to get to any higher
densities without being grounded in the body. LOL
The attempts to do so is easily detected, even here on Avalon.
Yes, people who are trying that are only fooling themselves.

There is another aspect to the shadow that is often forgotten and that is the Golden Shadow. This is a part of ourselves we also bury within the unconscious. This is the part that we don't recognise and it is that we are Gods and beautiful souls. To accept parts of us that are shadow that are not so nice is one thing but to balance it out we have to accept the god within to try and integrate that too.
I found when I started shadow work that the bad part were so much easier to deal with and accept truly than the golden parts.

Unlimited Golden Shadow
In order to understand repetitive patterns in relationships, Dr. Carl Jung suggested what we understand the psychological rule: “The psychological rule says that when an inner situation is not made conscious, it happens outside as fate. That is to say, when the individual remains undivided and does not become conscious of his inner opposite, the world must perforce act out the conflict and be torn into opposing halves.”
This acting out involves projecting our shadow aspects, or our belief in our own limitations. The more we know about ourselves, the more choices we have, and our limitations fall away. We can then choose not to behave in a certain way. When we don’t know about something, then it will take on a compulsive, autonomous element to it. Projection is an unconscious psychological mechanism. We all project onto other people parts of ourselves that we disown, that we deny. We will usually not identify with the projected quality or characteristic at all. It’s them. It’s not us. Until we accept our own shadow.
One of Carl Jung's real contributions, was to point out that our shadow, or the rejected aspects of ourselves or undeveloped potential, contains all sorts of creative, positive content. If you were a musically gifted child, for instance, and you dreamed about playing guitar or composing a symphony but your parents felt that they wanted you to perform academically and go to law school and join the family law firm, your musical ability went into the shadow.
Rudolph Steiner's take on shadow is the Guardians of the Threshold - there are two. You cannot cross the threshold into integration until you know that you can illuminate darkness yourself. The first Guardian, contains all of our fears in aspects of good and evil. These fears prohibit our crossing the Threshold until we reconcile all good and evil within and see them interwoven into whole being. The unseen then becomes seen.
The second Guardian is a sublime, luminous beauty impossible to describe. It holds our highest potential, and our low self image and our perceived limits keep us from embracing this Guardian and crossing the Threshold. To embrace the second Guardian we must realize that invisible forces within our selves create our character and that our world of sense is a seed ground for the higher world. By embracing the second Guardian, everyone is redeemed and all are connected. We cannot cross the threshold in separation.
Once we can cross the threshold, according to Steiner, divine protection envelops us. Evil that was once part of our experience will no longer enter our experience. Because we have integrated evil and no longer hold it in separation, the greater is joined to the lesser and proceeds from us in love for all.

I'm still amused at the irony of not too long ago, when I just happened to start doing this on my own. Daring to pull back the mask we all wear and probing the deep dark places of our being that we like to pretend aren't there. It wasn't even really a conscious effort, just seemed like the next logical step to take in the journey of remembering.
Well next thing you know, then fairly new member Starsha started posting about this thing called 'Shadow Work' here, even started a group concerning it. And I was like "holy s**t, I've already been doing this....It's got a name?" http://www.bigtenfever.com/forums/images/smilies/rofl.gif
The Universe indeed has a very subtle sense of humor, I've also heard it called a "God Wink".
God Wink ; a personal signal or message, directly from a higher power, usually, but not always, in the form of a coincidence
Awesome summary of shadow work Stan!
