I just came across this info due to a poster on HealthSalon. He told of his recovery from Veneral Warts and Hep C with the use of BHT. You can read Fatcha's story towards the end of the comments section on this page: http://www.healthsalon.org/264/mms-de-mystified-sodium-chlorite-stabilized-oxygen-chlorine-dioxide-detox/#comment-4624

I ended up on a yahoo group page and this is a cut and past from that forum: http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/BHTcures/

BHT is an antioxidant widely used as a food preservative that has been shown in research to uncoat lipid enveloped viruses and kill them. BHT has been used by thousands of herpes sufferers since the 1970's to halt or minimize herpes outbreaks.

Now, some of us are trying BHT on Hepatitis C, another lipid coated virus. Several of us are improving our condition using BHT while others have proven to recover and test negative for HCV after routine use of BHT. This group is set up both to educate others of the potential of BHT on Hepatis C and other lipid coated viral diseases and to share and track information about our progress and results with one another.

The following viruses are lipid coated:

Herpes (all types)

Hepatitis C,

Epstein Barr Virus,

HIV

Cytomegalovirus

West nile virus

Influenza virus,

Hepatitis B

Avian flu influenza

SARS

Mumps

Rubella

Dengue Fever

Butylated hydroxytoluene (BHT), also known as butylhydroxytoluene

Butylated Hydroxytoluene
Alternative medicine Both BHA and BHT increase UDP-glucuronosyltransferase, the enzyme possibly responsible for the anticancer effects of cruciferous vegetables
Food industry A food preservative used to prevent fats and oils in packaged foods from becoming rancid; BHT may be teratogenic to mice, and cause a significant decrease in cholinesterase activity, aggressiveness, sleep disturbances, and weight loss
Quackery BHT has been recommended for ageing, hangovers, herpes, and decreased sleep
Toxicity Excess consumption has been associated with abdominal cramping, confusion, nausea, liver toxicity, vertigo, vomiting, and loss of consciousness

Vitamin Research Products (http://vrp.com) ... they've been working with BHT for decades. If my memory serves, I bought some BHT from them in the mid 1980's, from their first retail store, in Mountain View, California. I probably first learned of BHT from Durk Pearson and Sandy Shaw's 1982 book Life Extension (http://amzn.com/044651229X). You can also get BHT from the organization that has been carrying on the nutritional work of Durk Pearson -- Life Extension (http://lef.org).
