I've talked about this in other threads. Thought the subject needed it's own tread. I've been eating the raw sun dried berries ($21.99 per pound @ Whole Foods) for just over 2 months. While this may seem expensive, you only need to eat 1/4 cup per day to get maximum benefits.

I consider Goji Berries a super food. Lets just say this... Even at age 53, there have been a few nights lately were I haven't been able to roll out of bed.... if you get my drift. That hasn't happened in years. That was an unexpected benefit.

The video pretty much says it all.

Goji Berry – Number 1 Superfood!
by DR. SHIROMA
Goji Berry Nature’s Energy Fruit

It may seem odd to start this list of superfoods with one you’ve likely never even heard of. But studies have shown that this little berry is one of the most nutritious and powerful foods in the world! Goji is the high-energy berry of a special Himalayan tree.

Harvested in the Himalayan, Goji berries taste like a vibrant blend of berries and chocolate. Hidden within its ruby pigment is the magic that makes it nature’s perfect energy fruit. Goji is packed full of antioxidants, amino acids and essential fatty acids. Although Goji may not be available in your local supermarket, you can find it in several health food and gourmet stores (often in juice form). A new product featuring the unsweetened pulp is now also available, and I highly recommend that you choose this form of Goji.

Goji pulp contains:

A remarkable concentration of antioxidants that help combat premature aging, with 10 times more antioxidants than red grapes and 10 to 30 times the anthocyanins of red wine.

A synergy of monounsaturated (healthy) fats, dietary fiber and phytosterols to help promote cardiovascular and digestive health.

An almost perfect essential amino acid complex in conjunction with valuable trace minerals, vital to proper muscle contraction and regeneration.

The Power of ORAC plus Goji Berry Nutrition

High ORAC food that can raise the antioxidant power of human blood 10 – 25%.

The richest and most complete spectrum of antioxidant carotenoids of all known food with more beta carotene than carrots, vitamin A, and zeaxanthin (protects the eyes).

B-complex vitamins (for converting food into energy).

Vitamin C (500 times more per ounce than found in oranges).

Vitamin E (very rarely found in fruits, usually only found in grains, seeds, and nuts.)

Excellent source of selenium and germanium (used in a number of clinical trials involving cancer patients).

21 trace minerals (including germanium – rarely found in foods).

Linoleic-acid (found to lower body fat, support increases in lean body mass, and enhance immune function).

In Oriental medicine, the Goji Berry is said to correct “chi deficiencies” such as low energy, insomnia, heart palpitations, and anxiety.

Polysaccharides (which fortify the immune system) including a powerful anti-aging agent which stimulates the secretion of rejuvenative human growth hormones by the pituitary gland.

18 amino acids (the building blocks of protein) including all eight that are essential for life.

More protein than whole wheat (13% more), the Goji Berry displays an insulin-like action that is effective in fat decomposition.

Beta-sitosterol (an anti-inflammatory agent known to lower cholesterol and used to treat sexual impotence and prostate enlargement).

Essential fatty acids (which are required for the body’s production of hormones and for the smooth functioning of the brain and nervous system).

Cyperone (benefits the heart and blood pressure, alleviates menstrual discomfort, and has been used in the treatment of cervical cancer).

Solavetivone (a powerful anti-fungal and anti-bacterial compound).

Physalein (natural compound that is active against all major types of leukemia, with broad-spectrum anti-cancer effect, and is often used as a treatment for hepatitis B).

Betaine (helps reduce levels of homocysteine a prime risk factor in heart disease; and protects cellular DNA.

Incredible information -- THANK YOU for sharing; I am waiting for my Goji plants to grow to get some berries; but your post is inspiring, I think I will just purchase some berries in the meantime.

Are You Addicted to Nose Spray? I Was Too. (http://projectavalon.net/forum4/showthread.php?44729-Getting-off-of-nose-spray.&p=482369&highlight=goji#post482369)

This is another thread where I credit Goji for helping me get off of nose spray.

I've eaten lots of goji berries (very large expensive amounts) because I love them with extra dark chocolate (one of the few fun foods I still can eat....stomach issues).
I havn't noticed benefits. But if I do I will report on them.
Love them....whether they do tons (or not).

----
PS: I realize there are new books out talking about superfoods. I've got one (of these books). And I as I am a good psychic when it comes to my own body and what it needs, then I like to add to that list (and also reminds us that we already have 'superfoods' available...maybe a tad old school...but there it is).

And guess what, it (my own body...which is injured) wants sunlight, clean water, lots of dark vegies, raw nuts (that have been soaked and sprouted) and so on. Our bodies do tell us what they want and need for repair work (mine shouts at me). You have to learn to listen (really ...truly....almost impossibly well).

pss: And what it hates, shampoo, hand soap, tide, all sorts of chemicals, aluminum and so on. I just try to get the least chemical versions (and that helps) or use as little as possible.

.....Really...tons of bad stuff we are digesting already...that needs to come out or not go in (I've personally been checking on those infrared cheap blankets.....but do they work? I can't tell...ANY COMMENTS or opinons of those?).

I should give them a try ... other Navitas products I've tried were quite good. Thanks.

P.S. -- Check out the latest (May 2012) Amazon reviews (http://amzn.com/B000FFLHSY) -- not so good -- oops

My taste, after eating tons of them, keeps changing. Sometimes I crave the big fat juicy ones, sometimes I liked the more dried out ones. I don't feel you can go wrong.

I bought me 100 grams organic goji berries, ate a few handfuls (great stuff) and planted the 20 biggest berries out. of these 3 plants grew really well, and these are now racing upwards in the poly tunnel. I am planning to propagate cuttings of these plants in this manner: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cVN4qdv9tT0 and then move onto forests of them. apparently you can eat the leaves too...

Too bad we don't have access to the raw berries.

Make sure you chew em up well, or they'll just be going out the same way they went in!!
