According to this Natural news article from Mike Adams, the GMO alfalfa scandal just got smellier with the disclosure that the USDA knew the seeds were already in the fields and contaiminating the food supply - yet they went ahead and rubber stamped this latest assault on our health by Monsanto anyways.

GMO alfalfa is not just another crop though. It is a perennial crop. That means it keeps on coming back and is highly pervasive in the environment. It is also a feed crop for livestock in the organic food supply and thus the risk extends to all organic milk-based products. That's why this crop is the line in the sand for food safety activists.
