View Full Version : Negative environments.
Negative environments.
This is a huge subject, and entails the whole of life, one's beliefs, one's view.
We do live in a negative environment...of our minds! Saying 'we' means all of us: this is quite a shock when you consider it! This planet is lovely, but it is inhabited by sentient beings who cling to ideas about themselves and everyone else.
This clinging is a not-knowing of our true nature, and could be called negative.
Resting in our true nature would then be seen as positive, but we do not notice this nature and so we live in a negative world! Oh, we can put on a brave face, and make things seem better, but these are only temporary fixes.
It's starting to sound scary, isn't it? Well, it needn't!
First we have to look at a touchy area...our beliefs. Now comes a really touchy area: what we believe may only be a partial system that is incomplete. Everyone's journey is different, but step by step we progress...get stuck...get emotional...resolve...progress...
So we go through stages of dissatisfaction...satisfaction...dissatisfaction...rough...smooth...
The individual temperament will dictate how fast we go through all this. If we adopt a system that is incomplete, there will be gaps in how to deal with everything.
If we say, “Well I'm self taught,” that is not altogether true, unless we have been in an isolated cave all our lives without contact with anyone! If we have senses and a mind, and have had contact with others, we will have been influenced. But this information may be incomplete, and as a result of that, any trauma that occurs will overtake us.
At this point, we come back to the subtle information body where feelings are stored. We can start to see how our lives are controlled by mistaken information – and this is maintained by everyone else around us. This situation is not helped by the corporate world!
We are bombarded by advertising about living the perfect dream, so naturally we will feel dissatisfied because life is just not like that. But somewhere, deep inside our minds, we think it should be. As a result of this constant disappointment, many people become more negative than normal. If one listens to (or reads) some people's patterning, it will all sound negative: they can't help having a go!
The type of negativity that arise most commonly in me is perceiving a pointlessness in everything.
I go...“What's the point?!”
This brings us back to the value of having a complete system. It's not so much dealing with other people's emotions - it's dealing with our own emotions and reactions: all systems offer plenty of antidotes to counteract our negative emotions (the only way to counteract someone else's negative emotions is to give them space, by not reacting).
The simplest answer IS love - un-conditional love. Now that is a tall order!
We begin with love for ourselves.
Not with criticism or blame or guilt or fear of our reactions. None of these are us.
Most of the time we fear our own reactions, and so we set up a barrier of defence around ourselves. We expect ourselves to be better. We want to be better at all sorts of things, but life is pretty short, so it is easy to feel a failure isn't it?
Much of the information in our heads is put there, and has nothing to do with our true being. We have to discern what is useful and what is not. The point of meditation is to separate ourself from those thoughts. Once that has been done, we are in awareness. This awareness looks in o itself and finds...nothing - pure awareness. It is empty and has a knowing quality...Pure Essence.
OK, so now we come to the good bit!
Pure Essence is a dry awareness.
Its expression is the juice...Pure Love. A Pure Heart!
Because we are not enlightened, emotions will still arise, even though we have had a glimpse of this Essence Love. This is because our awareness of essence has dimmed or gone unnoticed, and we are attached again to the feeling of “I”, and our mental image of self.
Once we have this glimpse of Essence, any emotion that arises is seem as a temporary event of an “I” identification and has absolutely no reality. The emotions are now the teacher, showing us that we have moved away from Essence.
Knowing Essence is very simple, and will be recognised through practice or through having it pointed out at the right time. It is slightly different from
just being aware. It doesn't matter if one isn't totally certain about Essence. It is just there.
Without it, we would not exist, but equally, we cannot say it exists.
I once saw a child fall over, and my impulse was to rush over to help...that was Essence Love.
However, the thought came in, “It's not my child, so I shouldn't interfere,” and I noticed that everyone else reacted the same way. I'd moved from essence to “I”.
That is the negative environment.
Even though there maybe things going on in the world, these are merely temporary external events. We shouldn't believe everything we read on forums like this!
We have to be aware of fear mongering and false promises of hope with the calvary coming.
These are subjects for comics...and they are both causes and products of a negative environment.
This negative environment is our teacher, if we can see it as such. It never truly existed in the first place: it may feel real, but it is not true.
If we can't see it as our teacher, we can just be kind to ourself, as this all takes time to digest.
Genuine Love is like a virus...it's catching!
One very last thing, we all want to make things better, to right all wrongs, to have peace in the family. It's not necessarily going to happen, in this incarnation. People need time and space, and there is a lot of time and a lot of space. In their own time they will come round to where they want to go, all we can do is not leave obstacles in the way.
Kind regards,
Tony
Did the title put you off?
It went on a bit because I was waiting at the hospital, with a eye problem, so took time writing with one eye. Concentration helps worry!
...they suddenly whisked me in for laser surgery! I was about to go blind in one eye!!! Detached thingy.
I do like to share things.
Tony...still blurry.

Bless you, Tony. Hope you will soon go from this :dizzy: to :cool2: to  and finally back to :luv:
I'll bet they told you to rest. So, behave, and be well.

Its def very hard to escape the enviroment we are forced into. I personally try to stay positive but I am better at being positive with other people than my self. I personally get down on my self preety hard and I have tried for years to fake it till I make it. Saying positive things whenever I think negative things about my self. When it comes to other people though I am generally very positive about their perdicaments or problems. Wish I could do that with my self. Maybe that is part of my life here on earth is to help bring peace to others troubles, but also walk around in my own sorrow. Who knows!!!! I keep the fight on to shape my positive reality.

Here I sit, on a tube. A sniveling teen's music blows out of his nostrils (cos the ears are plugged). His Nintendo or whatever it is he is attempting to control, is shouting at him, and he cant even hear it.
So yes, the title smells a little Gorgonzola-ish.
I loves ya anyway.
Ps. Can you read this?

IMO the biggest deception with out any outside influence what’s so ever, a sense of self justification, like some one trying to grab a sense of self--who am I,-- having suffered total amnesia.
As a new born baby, we gradually take on the identity of the environment, culture, language of this world we popped into, at birth. As an adult at some point, reaching the what in the hell-- is -- going on in the world and who in the hell am I? Running into this amnesia again,- only as an adult with having now, all our senses, awareness, totally clogged and backed up pipes in stagnant stinking thinking, coming to this planet born with amnesia waking up to amnesia as a adult, wandering around looking for what. With amnesia You ask some one else with amnesia? Blind leading the blind?
Picture a man traveling the universe one who is still with full knowledge, there is no place, time, being, awareness or knowing he has not encounter in his travels, he has seen, done, been, All absolutely nothing is or can be added to this man of the universe knowledge or beingness. He’s traveled infinity and back trillions of time’s. to keep from eternal boredom, as he still has infinity yet to travel on his plate, he invents amnesia and a lesser reality to hide from his total beingness and boredom 3D amnesia. Problem solved.-- not quite - how to keep from remembering and coming out of this self imposed amnesia.
Now why would he want to suddenly to remember all that he is, his beingness -- and jump back into this endless boredom?
The gift he gave himself was amnesia to keep from going galacticly mad.--- Is his form of Meditation from infinity awareness. To explore the realms of “ I’m not all that is.” there is nothing, nothing, nothing, silent watcher needs to do, to know, to be, to see, to explain, to voice, or to show. Silent watcher is all that is total conscious awareness with out end. Awake-- not awake-- Nothing, nothing, nothing, is lost or gained all thought or the struggle to understand any of this is all vanity.
To come out of amnesia to understand it all, is throwing this gift of free will to not know it all -- right back into silent watcher face-- in our total ignorance of the purpose of the gift.
To keep from going mad with infinity yet to traverse for eternity and still be all that is.
And the individual would not know this accepting this amnesia gift -- while being in amnesia God meditating in 3D duality as -- a Horse,-- bug,-- bird,-- human or even being grateful for this meditation we are in as Source (silent watcher). With this premise there is no Wright or Wrong, Good or Evil, "only" Eternity awareness for eternity, drop into duality with a dash of amnesia, were you can feel good or bad playing these games for eternity times eternity with out end. Sanity with out boredom.
Once aware of this all’ness we are - - it suddenly become’s like ---“Ground Hog Day” and Murray wakes up at 6:00 am, “I got you babe” on the clock radio every morning no matter what he becomes, try's, or messes up, or makes good, it all starts over every time the radio go’s off in the next morning (incarnation) with out end/infinity.
And so my question is what’s the hurry to wake up -- out of amnesia, and be board out of your skulls? We throw around all this wisdom and knowing like we’ve achieved a great awakening remembering bits and peaces of this man unending knowledge who has traveled the universe trillion of time for eon’s threw infinity thinking we are on the right path and some kind of mystic saviour with this original thought, while still in amnesia?
When the path 3D duality was nothing more than a gift to self by this traveler (silent watcher) to enjoy being the being--meditateing using this life as a rest stop on the many roads of time lines for eturnity.
So is it wise to wake up at 6:00 am knowing this “I” the silent watcher, -- a rock and a hard place,--( to wake up (knowing all) -- or not to wake up (bliss for a short life in duality).
Ponder that one for a while. If your EGO new everything and spoke it, its nothing, if you were a guru its nothing. The greatest of any one thing you can think of is nothing, in the eternal light of infinity with out end or beginning.
Amnesia is the greatest gift the creator, source, silent watcher, God, higher power, self has given us.
That would be the ultimate awakening, going back to sleep, to wake up to this is "A wonderful world" or meditate in as a time line of any demension or level of the univers all over again, and again, and again. GREEN PILL or RED PILL?

Hey Andrew, me no thinks the key lies anywhere near trying to escape "it". I see it more in a water metaphor, where as the more one thrashes and fights being in water like it's their enemy, the more one tends to go under. Once we come to terms that it's just water, and all we need do is learn to be as one with it, the "enemy" is suddenly recognized as actually being our friend. Water can be fun after all...:)
IMHO, we need to stop trying to do anything about our situation, and instead start to roll with it, there's a natural rhythm to things. Once we start hearing that rhythm, and getting in step with it, we may just discover that we now find ourselves exactly where we are supposed to be. Once we've solved inner conflict, we've solved outer conflict. I think it's just that easy.
Like the Hopi prophecy says: "This can be a good time".

I find the way you describe this to be very interesting pie'n'eal. Thank you for taking the time to do it.
Regarding the term 'negative environment'... I probably look at defining 'negative' not as 'bad' but 'veiled'. My belief, in my words, is that our ego-mind (the "I") does the crazy gyrations when we are out of touch with our Essence and immersed in a veiled 'environment', causing us, at times, to create or act or react out of the ego-mind's fear of the unknown or what others will think or how they will react. It cannot see it all so 'it' is kind of innocent in my book. I do not want it driving my 'vehicle' however, though it often does :), so I always appreciate reminders like you have provided (this my interpretation) that we are much more than our ego-mind understands. At least this is what your words have meant to me at this time. Always open though and grateful to hear others' thoughts and interpretations. I do not see the ego-mind as a bad thing just limited in it's perception.

For me, negative = stress. Negativity causes (me) stress, and stress causes me to be (feel) negative. Chronic stress = the American way (it seems), unless you are part of the 1%.

Hello John,
I hope I'm not over simplifying your post.
Are you saying the past is dead, enjoy and appreciate 'now'?
Maybe appreciating or understanding 'the moment now' and just one 'thing', one will know all moments and all things!
Nice to chat again,

My little story of the man traversing the universe for trillions of years with infinity left on his plate. Was reference to GOD as the traveler, simplified into a parable or analogy what this man invented to keep himself sane for the long hall.
Inventing amnesia when he (GOD) would enter any dwelling (incarnation as god>incarnate) amnesia being the VEIL in our 3d duality play ground.
Yes in a sense - dead to the true “I” AM all things. As a human, the same way we meditate and block out the outside world all that is for a short period of time.
Free from the knowledge of “I” AM is our world of limited consciousness, amnesia of WHO I am to help in ridding the eternal horse of infinity with out going galactic brainy’ ack mad. (board to death in the face of infinity I am that traveler)
Showing up here in full regalia as the “I” am, not just you or me but all incarnations. From bugs to birds, fish to whales, from the homeless to Bill Gates, or drops of water separated from the ocean. All things knowing the full power of I AM. A tree with the full power and knowledge of self as god, times the forest time’s the valium of the world, add in the valium X all being ness with =full awareness and the power of I am, trillion X the enth power would be total and complete kayos, would it not?
If not for the VEIL of amnesia.---- this is the traveler of the univers i was trivializing, trying to point at this vastness on words can not convy, only point at or two. IMO still trying to see what may be on the other side of this VEIL. with out going mad myself in the looking in or down the rabbit hole. and there are some who have went down the rabit hole who have never returned. literaly gone mad.
Every single individual blade of grass, with the full blown awareness of its self as the all of creation? So yes, dead to the I am all things, to coexist as a dementional separateness we call the individual,-- separation from OneNess that I’m different from everything around me dead. VEILness is a deadness to the” I am”.

Hey Fred,
Very wise words here, I appreciate them.
I guess there's that point where you entirely let go and just be, without the i.
Along the way though, there's a bunch of i's that pull us to and fro and make the whole affair confusing.
To touch a bit on negative environments: I left Honduras when I was 18 and came back when I was 24. In the meantime, I lived for a year in Switzerland and then the rest in the USA. I'm originally from Honduras, and before leaving it, I had no point of reference to tell me that things (things in general) vary greatly according to your environment.
When I came back to Honduras, one of the first things that struck me, that I had not noticed, was how oppressive the environment seems to be. Think of the United States, 50-60 years ago. That's with all the racism, all the hate and all the distaste for freedom of thought.
While in the US, I lived my last year there in a co-op with wonderful people, all very aware, caring and understanding.
Coming back home is one of the hardest things I've done. Blankets of heaviness and darkness cover this land. The violence, the complete failure of the government, the corruption, the raping of mother earth, the disintegrating social fabric etc etc etc.
I'm rambling, but what I'm trying to get across is that all that is negative with my environment, does make it at least a bit harder for me to get free. When you refer to the "struggle with water" metaphor, I completely agree with it, in fact, I've lived it before and I'll live it again...but we all know that it's not easy to keep an eye on that perspective, and we all know that enlightenment is at least somewhat connected to the dissolution of the ego--And here is where "the struggle" comes in. The more "I" struggle, the more defined and solid an ego, or an "I" has to be.
I did not come back to Honduras as a zen master. I didn't come back here and say "I'm just gonna roll with this and be one with it". (That would have been great, but that's not what happened).
My inconformity with the way things are is both a sign that I am somewhat enlightened, and a sign that I am not enlightened.
Fred, I've felt the peace where you speak from, in fact I long for it and have longed for it for some time now. I also know that the struggle needs to end for that to happen.
My post is not to rebut what you posted. How could I? It's full of truth!
I merely wanted to point out that negative environments can and do make things more difficult in a spiritual journey. And if the spiritual journey is the struggle that ends with the realization that the struggle must end, and that there is actually no traveler to take the journey, peace and bliss will come at last. And the more negative the environment, the harder the struggle feels, until it ends.
Much love,
PS: Your post was extremely insightful, and I thank you for it.
