The title was supposed to be...The insidious programming OF 'self' knowledge.

This may seem a strange thing to say...

The most subtlest of insidious programming of 'self' knowledge! Let's take a good look at this.
We all know, or should know by now that the way one controls a population is not by guns, but by ideas.
So it is all about manipulating consciousness.

For the masses, this has to be done with everyday living. Because of awareness of what is going on in the world, forums have sprung up, and this awareness has spread to the question of self identity - that we are more than body and mind.

So, concepts have been introduced to facilitate this idea.
The main purpose of this is to keep it as an idea!
If it is kept as an idea, it will have no reality. The internet is now full of little gods, who 'think' they are already enlightened. They repeat set phrases (from another source) that sound good. They are, in fact, good phrases, but they are dead phrases!

They are dead phrases because they are not practised. The very hallmark of practice of this nature is the development and manifestation compassion. Compassion is mentioned so much by many systems, because it is a safe guard against conceit. Compassionate activity is all about the other, and not one's own 'self' image.

It is no good just saying the word love, if you do not know what it truly entails! It just becomes a piece of clothing to wear to show others how nice you are.

Love is tough. It will continually test us.

We have to be aware of the possibility of this programming: because of the lack of compassion, we should be aware of hidden snipes we leave in messages – consciously or unconsciously. That is how it works...like a virus.

Essence (or whatever you want to call it) picks up these messages, whether you are aware of essence or not. And they leave a wound...but the bigger wound is left in yourself, in your own mind. That is how karma is laid down.

If one knows the workings of compassion, that wound can be dissolved.
Here are three illustrations of how this works at different levels:

Like a knot in a snake, that unties itself.
Like drawing on water.
Like a thief entering a empty house.

Be of one taste to foe and friend.
This is part of de-programming.

Quite often one hears people talking about experiencing a state of non thought.
This could easily be a vacant blank state, that seems like non thought.

Self knowledge can easily be self deception.

One really has to know the difference between a genuine cessation of thoughts and a vacancy.
In meditation thoughts are allowed to come and go. It is the essence and cognisant quality of being
that is merely reflected this activity.

We have to know the difference between being spacious in the mind, and being spaced out!
If not, one can easily be misled.

Hello , I feel that the practise of compassion in everyday life despite all other developmental input results in the greatest growth probably possible on this planet. It is hard to truly and practically "love" the vast range of peoples at all their various levels of spiritual and conscience development that we meet in everyday life, not judge them and allow for their egos. It can be even more challenging to "love" members of our own family.

Hello Lookbeyond,

What you say about family is very true, my family disowned me years ago!
The tricks about love or wisdom, or one could call it essence love,
is in knowing one, everything is known.

Meaning, whatever comes up in the mind, which is 'everything',
is recognised by one's pure essence. It merely reflects everything.
It is only when our habitual "I" image steps in that a judgement
takes place.

Knowing that one thing, pure essence, compassion arises.

Unfortunately the family don't that sort of love, they want more!
They still want us to believe in their reality.
So we have to go through the same discussion every time.

Love can take many forms, and needs much patience!

spiritual materialism... we think we know things, but we just know about them.
We are just in touch with content and not with the essence.

It is easy love a greedy person when you are able to look through that temporary appearance of greediness.
It is hard to look through it, when you are not able to look through your own greediness.
When we don't dare to look at our shadows we flee into our spiritual ego, that knows everything better... at least about the flaws in others.

I love myself in the middle of confusion... atleast that's what my spiritual ego is convinced of. ;)
I'm on my way though!
