2000 year old computer found, and reconstructed.
This device was found on sea bed(near a Greek island) among other debris from the Roman shipwreck.
It has taken scientists years to both assemble, and reconstruct and determine what exactly this device was used for.
Now it has been proved that the instrument was used by the ancients to: determine the orbits of the planets; when future eclipses would occur; etc
What is astounding about this devise is: the obvious sophistication displayed in its construction; an advanced knowledge of mathematics; astronomy; physics; precision engineering etc
The (one) answer as to why this knowledge disappeared from our recorded history, is that the Romans had invaded that Greek Island, and had confiscated that device along with other treasures, intending bringing it back to Rome.
The ship sank en route, along with its ill-gotten gains.
It begs the question as to how many other artefacts have been lost/stolen, thus deleting chapters of advanced civilisation from the annals of human history.
As we know all too well, history is written by the conquering nation, thus we are only now becoming aware of how advanced a civilisation existed in parts of the world at that time.
IMO, also tends to give great credence to legends of Atlantis etc
It is hypothesised that such technology found its way from Greek islands etc. to such places as: China; Middle East etc
